Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., whose presidential candidacy languished for the first few months of her campaign, is starting to climb in polls, and her proposal to cancel most student loan debt may be a major reason why. On April 22, the day Warren released her plan for free college and canceling student debt, she was down in sixth place for the Democratic nomination in the RealClearPolitics average. I criticized the plan at the time, but also noted that the political logic was clear. Free college proposals only benefit people who are in or near college, or parents of kids in

Cancel all loans and it will be socialism. If you think college is expensive now wait until the higher leaning types have a direct line to government money. Maybe the student loans wouldn't be so large if they didn't have to pay Princess Liealota $ 400k a year to teach nothing.

"Climbing in the polls" is relative to the competition....even the dem front runner is dumber than a box of rocks. Plus, who on this board couldn't taylor the question to demonstrate a higher poll number for one of the 23+ demon-crap faux candidates for prez? Spare me the polls and analysis. Who got it right in 2016? WWG1WGA! MAGA! KAG!

Perhaps an opponent might try to explain a bit of economics to the idiot voters who might consider voting for Fauxahontas. . .. That it isn't the 'evil banksters' who will be losing money over college debt being canceled, but the peasant Federal Taxpayers who will be on the hook for the money, since 0bama had the Federal Government (peasant taxpayers) take over the student loan business. (Too bad that most people who would vote for Lieawatha don't pay taxes, so the money won't be coming out of their pockets, so that at least the ones who voted for it will be hurt by their idiotic choice.)<.i>
And once they can get THAT concept through to the idiot voters, they might start explaining that "Free College" is not free, and again that the peasant taxpayers are the ones who will be paying for it, and that the costs of "free college" will actually increase vastly above 'free market' college, as does everything that the government (taxpayers) pays for and distributes to the moochers.
And in the end, those 'free college" degrees will be worth exactly what the students paid for them... (nothing)

Can my kids apply for retroactive loans? I worked hard and my wife and I were frugal (my car is 26 years old) so we could put all four of ours through school with no student loans. I guess we were stupid.

Don't stop there. Home mortgages. Car loans. Gambling debts. Credit card debt. Overdue taxes. It all should be wiped clean. We deserve it.

Why is Warren being so shortsighted in her delusional pandering. She should promise that, if elected, to expand this debt forgiveness plan to all firsf and second home mortgages, to car, boat and aircraft loans and to all other consumer financing. Would eliminate all outstanding debt and guarantee that all future debt would be forgiven within, say, 12 months of origination. The 12 month period would give borrowers the pleasure of knowing that whatever reason and amount that they needed the loan for, that President Warren would have the US Treasury assume the burden.
For those worried about how to pay for such a ridiculous program, relax, Warren is confident that the rich will be happy to pay higher taxes to cover the enormous costs. As to unscrupulous people taking advantage of this federal largesse, a Warren Administration will trust the American people to do the right thing.

At this point in the election cycle, polls are utterly irrelevant except to those trying to skew the campaign. Ignore them...

So Sen Lie-a-Watha Warren wants to give away taxpayers money all for the express purpose of buying votes from the ignoramus-class. Accumulate debt? Hey, vote for me and you'll be out of it. Got responsibilities? No problem, vote for me and someone else will shoulder your burden. Want a house, car and new Iphone? We'll handle that for ya, just check that democrat box and you'll be home free. Better yet, let us check it for you. No sense in burdening yourselves by having to travel all the way to the voting station.

What are the commie party candidates gonna do if Trump actually
zeroes out the student loan debts while they’re all talking about it?
And what if he then points out how useless if not harmfully divisive
many college degree programs are? Ooh, what if he then introduces
Mike Rowe, the host of Dirty Jobs to say a few words about America’s
need and gratitude for the people who manufacture, build, repair and
transport the things that make our lives comfortable?
