During a private dinner last week at the Capitol Hill Club in Washington, D.C., I was taken to task by a Republican congressman after I pressed him on his lack of support for President Donald Trump’s proposed space force.
The congressman is a war hero. His service is unimpeachable and I maintain a deep respect for his commitment to our country. Yet his responses to my questions were flippant, painfully uninformed, and dangerously rooted in a reflexive NeverTrumpism that is unworthy of the man.

Tell me, again, why we can't have a name of the congressperson. How else do we send a message to a Deepstater than to vote him out of office -or a least threaten?

We are taking for granted that nearly all elected congressmen, after only a short time in DC, become corrupted and end up working against the interests of the people who elect them. I don't think we should take this for granted, but instead get to the bottom of who is doing the corrupting and how they are going about it, even if it means exposing the threatening criminal activities of one certain political party...

Can we just get rid of the "war hero" stuff?

Military personnel that claim to be war heroes are phonies. Think about John Kerry. Real heroes eschew that term.
I. too, being a career military man, do not think that the vast majority of us are heroes just because we served. We just did our jobs. The ones that actually did things worthy of the term will never brag about it!

If your not going to support the defense of this country or this President, then I don't give a rat's rear end about your service to this country. Weather a space force is needed can be discussed, but to just dismiss it because you don't like the President is childish. If that is your attitude, then why did you enter the armed forces?

Russia and particularly China are years ahead of us in weaponizing space. Trump proposes addressing that, comedy writes itself for Colbert, Maher, Noah et al.

The USAF is not very interested in anything beyond their latest cool, high speed aircraft.
They ALWAYS neglect the close air support mission. Once they had the A-10s, ideal for
this mission, and proven effective in actual wars, they have spent decades trying to push
them to the boneyards so they can spend that 'wasted money' on their fancy high fliers.
They absolutely forbid the Army from having their own fixed wing CAS aircraft, and yet
they neglect the mission. Coming up with stupid, unworkable ideas like using the
single engine, unsurvivable, very limited load and fuel F-16 for CAS. But they WILL
absolutely not permit the Army to support their own. Fortunately the USN is smart
enough to give the USMC their own CAS capabilities, and they are known as THE
best at CAS.
So - why would space be any different? USAF wants that money for THEIR projects
and not "wasted" on some damned 'space nonsense'. And our absolutely mission
critical satellites are as vulnerable as a Sunday school class at a mall in South Chicago,
totally undefended and with NOBODY available to protect them when they start being
wiped out.
We need the Space Force, and President Trump, once again, is the smartest guy on
the block.

David Poyer has a very interesting series of books about all things Navy, and the last several are about war between China and the U.S., with lots of action in the South China Sea. The war began with China knocking out our communications and GPS satellites and massive cyber attacks on our infrastructure and communications. We had (have) very little to counter such attacks, and ended up with no power, no energy or fuel, no internet, no communications, no food in our stores. Imagine living in such an America. We are thrown back to the 19th century.
Meanwhile, the demoncrats have lost their minds because they lost the power and influence they expected to wield during a Hitlery administration, and how it set back their plans for socialism and a One World Government. They have no interest in any legislation or planning for defending America. Others are anti-Trumpers who will not support anything he proposes. The Wall, a Space Force, etc.

I really wish people would quit with the "I respect his service but..." line. It is as meaningless as the "I'm a gun owner but..." routine. Just stop it.
