NEW YORK - The Trump administration has repeatedly assured Americans that it will not use data from a proposed citizenship question on the 2020 Census to target undocumented immigrants. But more than a quarter of Americans don´t believe it, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll. (Snip) A substantial majority of Americans generally support the citizenship question, the poll shows. Sixty-seven percent said they approve of its inclusion, with 41 percent saying they "strongly" approve. Republicans view the attempt to gather data on non-citizens much more favorably than Democrats. Fear of the question could upend the survey by sharply reducing participation

The really important thing about the census´ citizenship issue is voting fraud. If the census shows that a city or county has X number of citizens, but Y number of ballots are cast in an election, there is fraud.
Identifying how many citizens are eligible to vote is critical. Chasing illegals is down the list in priority.

It´s a moot point... Trump is a leader. Leaders don´t follow polls. Got it? Good!

I would expect that “quarter [who] don’t trust the Census on citizenship” are not citizens, not even Green Card holders. Illegals. Maybe a few SJWs, but mostly those who are hiding in plain sight and don’t want to be outed ….

The Census also governs the apportionment of Representatives.

I recognize that the census is necessary for representation in the House of Representatives.
Census 2020 will get this info from me: one Caucasian male born in the USA and nothing else. I will not answer intrusive and unnecessary questions.

You are never going to have any poll where about less than 30% disapprove of anything that is in question. Besides most polls today use questions that are formulated in such a way as to illicit a response that corresponds with a specific political agenda, with a big percentage of the people being polled not having an informed clue as to the complex issue that they are being asked to comment on.

Are you a citizen? Yes or no. "No" can mean green card, not necessarily illegal.
It is illegal to use personal identifiable information from the census, kind of like tax returns (but tax business only).
Census determines apportionment based on the number of people, not citizens. The Left has nothing to worry about except raising mistrust of government by opposing the question so loudly. It´s working against their goals.

1/4 of ´Americans´... aren´t.
They may have been born in the hemisphere that has "America" (North, South, Central) in the name of the region from whence they originated, but they are not native born citizens of the United States of America.

I would rather the Trump Administrator did use data from the census to target illegal aliens. What is wrong with targeting illegal aliens? If we don´t know how many reside in the U.S. and their status, what is the point of the census, anyway?

If these illegal’s were classified as Trump voters then the Dems would be for removing them and sending them back to the country of origin today.

Pfft. About a quarter of Americans are brain dead Democrats.
When you get down to those numbers (a quarter think Trump is Satan, etc....) that means that everybody with more brains than a bucket of spit knows better.

#7: You don´t even have to tell them that much. They´re only entitled to count the number of people living at any given place.
Otherwise, it´s all just information to learn about who we are. Some people will be asked to fill out a "long form," which is VERY intrusive, but you don´t have to.

Happily, the Real Clear Politics poll average shows President DJ Tump approval at 45.1%. This is the highest in two years.

Duh. If the illegals lie about everything else to get the bennies they think they deserve, why would they tell the truth on the census, provided the question was even there.
That´s why the government constantly told us that we had eight million illegals in the country when we knew it was at least 30 - 40 million - and growing.
