The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) conversation is returning to Capitol Hill Tuesday as the House Judiciary Committee hosts the first congressional hearing in 36 years to discuss the legislation. The hearing will bring together four witnesses including a state senator, legal experts, and actor and advocate, Patricia Arquette Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, D-New York, is the sponsor of H.J.Res.35, which would restart the amendment ratification process, and has been introducing ERA legislation DURING each session of Congress since 1992.

I think it was Rush (yesterday?) who pointed out that the Constitution doesn´t single out men when enumerating rights. It uses the word "people". Besides since gender is fluid and self-defined and self-chosen any distinctions based on sex have become irrelevant. At least that´s what I keep hearing.

Equal rights or preferential treatment? My money is on the latter. So much of what goes on in Washington is a contradiction in terms.

Wymmen, minorites and illegals already have more rights than the rest of America. What more do they want, more testosterone, better gaydar? They aren´t after jobs toward the glass ceiling because they could just run for public office and have THAT.

How about white men #2. We are the only ones who can be legally discriminated against these days. Oh and perhaps we need to add asians into that since they are way too smart.

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union,... do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." My guess is the Democrats and Rinos supporting this have never read the Constitution or don´t know the word "People" is plural including women & children! The Constitution also uses "person" which is gender neutral. Complete waste of time and effort but that´s what Democrats specialize in doing. Unecessary and unwanted nothing more than virtue signalling!

Democrats would be embarrassed if they went to work four days a week and did nothing.

The amendment failed to gain the support of 38 states, an decades have passed since the amendment was even under consideration. The deadline for ratification was set at March 22, 1979!
If its supporters now want to propose the ERA again after - let´s see, almost four -- decades, then they should have to restart from Step 1, that is, in Congress.
It will fail again and they know it, but changing the rules after a loss is sooooo much easier! (Does that sound familiar from recent political events?)

Poster 10: I suggest the word “would” be replaced with “should.” Liberals do not have the capacity to be embarrassed.

This is another attempt to push an agenda and fundraise!
Men and Women who are Citizens of this Country should and do have equal rights! Period. Done. Game set and Match. Over.
This another one of those ´winning´ policy statements that Politicians trying to please everyone (so they can garner power and contributions) have trouble committing to!

I hope they pass ERA and on that same day end all preferential hiring for women and grants for women owned businesses. Also, all women between the ages of 18 - 25 should be required to register for military service.

Typical Leftists. Refuse to take the will of the MAJORITY as a no. Yet these are the first women to come running to the cameras and complain about the men they claim won´t take no for an answer. Hypocrite much ladies?

The so-called ERA is not needed, except for those with a victim mentality.

Darn it. I read thru the whole article, hoping to see a photo of Patricia Arquette, but came away with nothing.

In fact women are privileged since they can conspire in and pay for the murder of an unborn child with no legal consequence. Further, ask any guy with children who has been divorced about the disparity in treatment over custody of and visitation with children.

Used to pay a lot of attention to the Earned Run Average (ERA). Then lost interest in baseball.

Oh boy! This gonna be great.
If it passes, black women in TV commercials will chided about their weight, poor parenting skills and bad behavior. Black men will be portrayed as the burglars in security equipment ads instead of white guys. There will be no more kneeling or raised fists when the Anthem is played. All snow-flakiness will screech to a halt because nobody will be able to claim discrimination. When crimes are committed and reported by the media, names and faces will be immediately shown so the rest of us knows who dunnit. Can’t wait.
