Senate Republicans are waving President Trump off from nominating Kris Kobach, a favorite among conservatives who want tougher enforcement of immigration laws, to serve as the next secretary of Homeland Security. GOP lawmakers are already scrambling to contain the controversy surrounding two potential nominees to the Federal Reserve Board — Stephen Moore and Herman Cain — and they don’t want to find themselves in another political fight with the White House over the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

In other words putting someone in place that might actually do something would disrupt the status quo.

So, the Republicans are suddenly worried about politicizing something? Where were they when every agency was polarized under obomba? It´s easy to despise people like scrambling weenies who can´t handle more than one "political fight" at a time. PDT is the one doing all the fighting; these monkeys only have to hold his towel. But they´re scared of a political fight. Give me a freakin´ break!

I suppose the payoffs from the coyotes, drug runners, cartels, etc., is too much to ignore. Both parties participate in the big bucks.

Well when I get that frequent phone call from President Trump where he keeps repeating "I will fight for you" etc. etc. etc. Then President Trump better bring those GOP lawmakers in and tell them to buy some extra depends because they will be in a fight. I am tired of QUALITY people being discarded because if might make some GOP lawmaker work and stand up.

It’s clear that most of the Republicans in the Uniparty Congress are a pretty wimpy bunch.
In that respect if a leftist or liberal Democrat President were to nominate a leftist Democrat in the vane of the Rev. Al. to head the DHS, he would fly right through, with most of those RINOs who are in DC to feed on special interest’s lobbying handouts going right along with the leftist and liberal Democrats.
It’s really up to the State Republican Parties to get rid of those RINOs through the State level Republican Primaries and replace them with true Republican conservatives who put the welfare and security of the country first.

Make those Senators vote against someone who can effectively influence the immigration issue. They will be primaried and lose. Or have to retire like so many of their colleagues in the House did last cycle.

There is absolutely no one this POTUS could appoint whose appointment would not be met with a boatload of protest from the Democrat resistors. He could nominate a dead McCain and they´d rip him apart for being a hypocrite. Democrat reaction should not be a factor in any cabinet or judicial appointment. It´s going to be negative no matter what.

Cornyn is becoming a real traitor.
Kobach would be a perfect DHS Secretary. If not that, he should be some sort of a paid consultant.
Maybe a "czar" like The Zero used to avoid any Senate confirmation problems?

Kobach is a courageous, patriotic American who dares to stand up for the U.S. Constitution and America´s Rule of Law which have served this country abundantly since the Founders in their brilliance and Wisdom established the USA! Kobach is likewise brilliant, having been a legal scholar who taught Law in a university in Missouri. For boldly standing up for the Laws of this land, he & his family have been persecuted by the vile radical socialist lefty zealots who showed up at his home in his yard & terrorizing the entire neighborhood!
Kobach is willing to serve this country with his exemplary knowledge of the Immigration Law and courageous enough to lead DHS into the future during these times when such dedication to securing America is needed. It would be a shame on the GOP & the entire Congress to not give him this opportunity!

(hit submit too soon)
The Tea Party never really went away, nor will it ever. As an organization it got top heavy and those at the top may have taken gotten full of themselves. Happens all the times. But the Tea Party is an ingrained philosophy, a state of mind, that transcends organizations.
It is here. It will be here.

See, the GOP still doesn’t get it. If Trump continues to work his heart out for America without the full-throated support of the wimpy party leaders, the Grand Old Party is toast. Ed Rollins said so and I agree. It is clear many think as soon as Trump is done in another five years, the Bush globalists can count on our support. So so wrong.
Kobach is just what we need and the BEST man, if a real intellectual conservative, is exactly the one our Republican leaders will denounce and deny powerful jobs to...

Kobach and Cain are both excellent nominations. Romney and other McCain lite Republicans make me ill. Republicans fund raising organizations keep emailing, mailing and calling asking for money. I keep saying I will be able to find some money when they find a way to fully support Trump´s nominees and legislative priorities. I notice that some mailers now ask if the respondent supports Trump and not the Republican party. Let them know what you think.

John Cornyn is a Senator from Texas. There are a lot of entities and individuals in Texas who have profited either directly or indirectly for a very longtime from the massive smuggling of contraband, dangerous illicit narcotics, and illegal aliens that is coming across the insecure borderline into Texas. Those entities and individuals, some of who are very influential in Texas politics, for fiscal reasons of their own want the borderline to remain insecure, especially so a large amount of cheap foreign labor can continue to gain entry to Texas that can be hired at very low wages by Republican supporting business interests. Cornyn knows that, so it is fairly easy to see where he is coming from when he essentially wants DHS to remain ineffective at stopping the flow of smuggled goods and people across the borderline. Allowing President a Trump to make the DHS effective could very well disrupt those flows and discombobulate a lot of Cornyn’s special interest constitutency groups in Texas and Cornyn is showing that he will not go along with that happening.
