To use a term from Greek philosophy, the telos (purpose) of government has been misplaced. Instead of designing laws and methods to enhance the dignity and freedom of the individuals living in our society, the government has been designing laws and projects that are either (1) guided exclusively or primarily by utilitarian goals of the greatest good for the greatest number, or (2) by socialistic goals that government expansion is the greatest good in itself, or (3) by identity politics where the good of identity collectives is more important than the good of individuals.

I enjoyed this longish, cerebral exposition of where society has been heading the last few decades. It is thought-provoking and correct, I believe. Understandably, the author lays out the situation, but can offer no solutions. Of course the first step is to recognize the problem, and here that is well done.

On the contrary, the author does offer a solution: returning to faith in God, who imposes order in an otherwise chaotic universe.

Interesting article. A symbiotic relationship exists between anarchy and socialism despite being polar opposites. The deliberate creation of disorder through the breaking of or lack enforcing laws can be expected to result in calls for more government to step in and restore order.
The symbiotic relationship between anarchy and fascism also exists and is closer to our current state where enough laws are on the books to arrest a ham sandwich and the enforcement is arbitrary with relationship to equal justice but rather deliberately selective based on loyalty to the power class elites. Our ruling elites are filthy rich while earning an upper middle class wage from we the people. We have lost control of our government. And some people are still mystified why we elected Donald J Trump and unfurled our Gadsden flags.

It is no accident. The Russians and other Communists and proto-Communists immigrated here, and the Frankfurt School and other international leftist groups have put many academics in place, and they have been working since the 1930s, inside our systems, to destroy America, to collapse our system, so that Communism can take over.
Read Horowitz´s book: Radical Son. He spent his early life, until his middle 40s as a confirmed Marxist, working to destroy America, as his Russian immigrant Communist parents had done as teachers. He eventually realized his error and has been pointing out the International Left´s insidious efforts to destroy America from within.
Now they work with the jihadis, on the "enemy of my enemy´ theory.
And too many sit complacently, failing to understand what is happening.
Trump is the first real pushback since Reagan.

It sure is. I have been thinking exactly along these lines lately, as the Democrats have completely destroyed our rule of law, and the Republicans have sat, and let them get away with it. The only way for this system to work is for the parties to operate as a legal check and balance on the other, or we will have a lawless society, which is what we have, as the Republicans have not checked out of control Democrat lawlessness. Democrats claiming any law they don´t like broken, using prosecutorial discretion shields, intimidating and bullying, advocating to add SCOTUS judges, overthrow the electoral college, make DC and Puerto Rico states, opening the border for a foreign invasion, anything to get their way.

Before we lie down in despair we must realize that there has never been peace on Earth. The great civilizations of the pre-BC times were made up of small tribes or city states ruled by despots. Egypt, Greece, Sumeria, China, Korea all ruled their people with an iron fist and put dissenters to death without a second thought. Jews were held in contempt for no reason as they are today. Then Persia, Rome, Alexander the Great, the Mongols all built larger kingdoms through violent conquest which then fell into bloody wars of rebellion and freedom. The Middle Ages followed the pattern of warring city states. The crossbow and then gunpowder changed the face of warfare but not the need for battle. We built America after first taking it by force from many different tribes. We had Indian Wars, a Civil War, a war with Mexico and two World Wars. The fact that we are not living in peace today means nothing, man is not a peaceful, compliant creature. We have our disagreements, attempt to settle them amicably and then resort to bloody wars, just like four thousand years ago. It is not over, it will never be over.
