A lesbian minister in Nantucket, Massachusetts, is canceling her church’s annual Fourth of July celebrations in an act of political protest apparently against the country’s — as well as her own congregation’s — “whiteness.”
Rev. Erin Splaine announced to her community Thursday that the Second Congregational Meeting House Society, Unitarian Universalist church would be canceling its customary July 4th celebrations, which include a public reading of the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. "We came to this decision in large measure because of the recent gutting of the 1965 Voting Rights Act by the Supreme Court,” Splaine wrote in a letter to the Nantucket Current. She was referring to

President Trump is touting a performer who draws larger crowds than “Elvis” to headline the Great American State Fair on the National Mall, after numerous high-profile cancellations — himself.
Trump posted about the idea Saturday of giving a “major” speech and holding an “AMERICA IS BACK” rally, after a series of musicians pulled out following the announcement of the scheduled lineup in DC – among them Poison frontman Bret Michaels, country crooner Martina McBride and R&B group The Commodores.
“I understand Artists are getting “the yips” having to do with their performance on Wednesday, so I am thinking about bringing the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World,

Host Kristen Welker said, “You’ve heard about the president’s $1.8 billion fund, the so-called anti-weaponization fund, to pay people who say they were unfairly investigated or prosecuted by the government. It’s tied up in the courts right now. But, Mr. Vice President, should the government, in any instance, compensate people who attacked law enforcement officers on January 6?”
Pence said, “Well, look, I think that the weaponization fund is a bad idea from the start. And, I would encourage the administration just to drop it. Look, the Justice Department has the ability—

America’s most infamous tech company has a bold, potentially risky plan to supposedly reduce the spread of mosquito-borne illnesses, assuming the federal government will sign off on the proposal.
As The New York Post reported, Google wants federal approval to unleash approximately 32 MILLION mosquitoes into the states of California and Florida over the next two years.
This is supposedly part of an effort to halt the spread of several serious mosquito-borne illnesses, including West Nile virus, St. Louis encephalitis, dengue, Zika, chikungunya, and yellow fever.

We often hear and read about men brutalizing women, and it is a national disgrace that so many women live their lives in terror. I’ve written many times about the battering situations I came across as a police officer in NYC.
But there’s another type of battering I’ve witnessed, albeit not nearly as often: women brutalizing men.
While working a tour in Brooklyn one night, my partner and I were summoned to an apartment to handle an assault in progress. When we arrived and climbed a few flights of stairs, we heard moaning sounds coming from behind an open door of one of the rooms. Other occupants

We reported earlier on Saturday on Jill Biden's remarks about Hunter's pardon, and they truly did beggar belief as she tried to blame President Donald Trump for Joe Biden going back on his word not to pardon his son. Indeed, she claimed he had to do it because they were fearful Hunter would be targeted by Trump. That took some kind of gall, after the lawfare efforts against Trump for years. Jill also got a lot of backlash for saying she had never seen anything like Joe's confusion during the debate before or since, claiming she thought he was having a stroke or medical issue. That's hard to believe,

The wife of Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner said she was “deeply hurt” after details of her husband’s extramarital sexting became public Saturday, accusing a former campaign official and confidante of betraying her trust.
The statement from Platner’s wife, Amy Gertner, came after both The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal reported that shortly after Platner announced his Senate campaign last year, Gertner flagged to campaign staff sexual text messages her husband had with other women.
“I know who Graham is,” Gertner said in a statement delivered through Platner’s campaign. “I know the man I married

Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt's leftist opponents are not happy with how his campaign has taken off.
Listen to how upset the Los Angeles city council member Nithya Raman is about the amazing ads supporters have been putting out that have so animated Pratt's campaign.
Raman tried to claim Pratt was promoting his campaign with AI videos, and that was "deeply insulting" to the industry and workers. Interviewer Elex Michaelson then brings her up short, telling her these are videos by supporters, not made by Pratt. That just killed her argument, big time. She knows it, and she tries to shift to another attack.

On May 29, 2026, in Modesto, California, Joaquin Escoto, 28, a Mexican national and illegal immigrant, was arrested and charged with three counts of murder.
He allegedly stabbed to death Fabiola Gonzalez, 23, a devoted mother, her own mother, and loving grandmother Silvia Nuñez, 54, and Fabiola’s 2-week-old infant son, Mateo Gonzalez.
A surviving child of approximately 4 years old was found in the home and taken into custody by Child Protective Services. [snip]
But San Joaquin law enforcement officials hogtied by California’s contested sanctuary law failed to notify the feds, and Escoto was set free, the official said.

The wife of Democratic Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner told his campaign in 2025 about sexual messages he had sent to other women.
Amy Gertner, whom Platner has been married to since November 2023, told the campaign about the texts during an internal vetting process last year at the beginning of his campaign. Gertner's disclosure of the texts were first reported by the Wall Street Journal.
In a statement from Gertner provided by the Platner campaign, she wrote that they have gone through counseling and that their marriage today "is stronger than ever before."
