Earlier on Saturday evening, there were reports of gunfire during the White House Correspondents' Dinner being held in Washington, D.C. The U.S. Secret Service, in coordination with the Metropolitan Police Department, is investigating a shooting incident near the main magnometer screening area at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. The president and the first lady are safe along [with] all protectees. One individual is in custody.
President Donald Trump survived two assassination attempts during the 2024 election, and Saturday night he was whisked away again from another lethal threat when a heavily armed gunman briefly breached a security checkpoint at one of Washington's most famous black-tie galas and exchanged gunfire before being subdued by the Secret Service.
But Trump would not recoil.
First he wanted to return to the White House Correspondents' Dinner before it was canceled, hoping to send a signal to a nation gripped by political vitriol and shaken by recent assassinations — from Charlie Kirk to Minnesota legislators – that “sick people” cannot “change the fabric” of the United States.
That description comes from Chamath Palihapitiya, a venture capitalist, and relates to the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) which was just indicted by a federal grand jury in Alabama.
The SPLC formed years ago to seek damages for KKK victims. Over the years it amassed a fortune and used it and its connections with the media and the Democrats unfairly to tar and ruin the livelihoods and reputations of individuals and organizations with which it disagreed -- including groups like Moms for Liberty and Parents Defending Education. The switch proved immensely profitable.
It's pretty safe to say at this point that Democrats want as many illegal immigrants to enter the country as possible because they believe they will eventually become loyal Democrat voters. So it's no surprise that they have complete disdain for agencies like Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), who are trying to remove those potential Democrat voters. And as Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) demonstrated, they don't care who knows it. According to Breitbart Texas, during a late-night Senate debate on funding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ending the partial government shutdown that, yes, is still going on, Schumer said this:

I sat there stunned doing spit-takes with my coffee while thinking, “holy cow, who has that kind of money to blow, just renting Holiday decorations?”
