The U.S. military has launched operations to begin de-mining the Strait of Hormuz, U.S. Central Command (Centcom) said on Saturday. Centcom said in a social media post highlighted by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth that two Navy guided-missile destroyers began “setting conditions” for this mission on Saturday morning. The USS Frank E. Peterson and USS Michael Murphy have previously operated in the Arabian Gulf to help clear the strait of sea mines set by Tehran, according to Centcom. “Today, we began the process of establishing a new passage and we will share this safe pathway with the maritime industry soon

Piratical behavior and smuggling is the name of the game in those waters. Iran activated their only existing doomsday device: the Strait of Hormuz. The US Navy said "nope." The Iranian regime gives the appearance of being emasculated.

If you read or listen to main stream media and Democrats (is there s difference?), you would think Iran is winning the war big time and that Trump has made so many mistakes that it was all a waste of time and money on our part. I pray the U.S. negotiating team is able to convince Iran that they must meet our conditions to stop the war. Marco Rubio is proving to be remarkable in the job he is doing and J.D. Vance is among the others who are on the negotiating team. I shudder to think what would happen if it was anyone on Biden's team considering the disaster he made in leaving Afghanistan.

US should issue a clear warning to Iran in the Pakistan talks. We are going to resume open traffic through the Hormuz straits. For every ship that is directly attacked or damaged one power station or one bridge will be gone - as a start. It could get a lot worse if you don't get the message. Secondly the US should simply buy the ship and it's oil before it enters eastward passage out bound. When the ship clears sell it back to the owners. One catch the price will be 10% higher for those who opposed or sabotaged us and that much lower for our allies. Transfers can take place electronically to a special account set up by the Treasury.

#3- I like it! #6- I agree. The mullets SAID they 'mined the Straits'..... but then they 'allowed' some ships to go through? A mine- at least a contact mine, or a magnetic mine- cannot be 'turned on' or 'turned off' remotely. A contact mine explodes when one of it's triggers is activated, and a magnetic mine explodes when the magnetic field it detects changes as a steel ship passes close by. This told me that the mullets were lying.... as usual. Saying that you laid mines, when no mines were actually laid- is a standard practice. Just the possibility of there being a mine is enough to frighten the ship insurance 'money men' quivering in their expensive suits while sitting in their fancy chairs at their fancy desks in their fancy air-conditioned offices.

I think our Treasury Secretary has undercut Lloyd's of London already. Brittain used to be known for their navy and their banking. The Royal Navy is tattered and now Lloyd's will suffer from the wobbly kneed Kier Starmer's lack of strategic insight.

It is likely that Iran anticipated this scenario years ago and the mines have been there for some time. I am not an expert on mines, but modern technology should support the detonating of a mine remotely on command, rather than depending upon contact by a ship. We shall see.

It took 21 hours for the American negotiators in Islamabad to confirm what we’ve known about the regime in Iran for the last 47 years. The IRGC won’t ever negotiate in good faith. And this time, even J.D. Vance had enough. In a presser from Islamabad, the Vice President announced he would withdraw from talks after the Iranian regime refused to come off of their list of demands. Vance told reporters that he left our “best offer” on the table and said it would be up to Iran to figure it out. Well, this should make for a pleasant ice-breaker in Islamabad. Negotiating teams from the US and Iran had a meeting scheduled for the morning in Pakistan, in large part focused on Iran's pledge to allow unfettered traffic in the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for [checks notes] not getting bombed back to the Stone Age. Instead, Iran attempted to force shippers to pay exorbitant "tolls" in cryptocurrency while continuing to export its own oil. We'll get back to the opening session in a moment. The US Navy decided to enter the chat – as well as the Strait of Hormuz: Several U.S. Navy ships crossed the Strait of Hormuz

California Congressman Eric Swalwell is one of the most reprehensible people in public life. After years of ignominy in Washington, he is running for Governor of California. At least he was until today: his campaign may be over. Apart from the fact that he is a terrible human being and a far-left fanatic, Swalwell has a problem with women. Numerous women have now accused him of sexual harassment or worse. Of course, they could all be making it up. But California’s Democrats aren’t betting that way. Thus: As a Democrat, when you lose the teachers’ union, you have lost. But there is much more:

The Artemis II astronauts safely splashed down off the coast of San Diego at 5:07 p.m. Friday after a historic 10-day mission around the moon, finally letting the crew and NASA officials breathe a sigh of relief. NASA regarded the high-energy reentry — streaking through the atmosphere in a nearly 5,000-degree-Fahrenheit fireball at more than 30 times the speed of sound — as one of the riskiest moments of the mission. Space agency officials’ blood pressure was further elevated as experts closely watched the performance of the craft’s heat shield — which astronauts rely on to slow them down and keep temperatures livable.

The Trump administration scored a significant appellate win on Friday with a 4th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling regarding DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) access to Social Security Administration (SSA) records. The appellate court, sitting en banc, vacated the preliminary injunction issued by Maryland District Court Judge Ellen Hollander in April of 2025 — a decision that blocked DOGE personnel from accessing sensitive SSA data. The Trump administration appealed that (district court) decision, even filing an application for stay with the Supreme Court when the 4th Circuit denied its motion for a stay pending appeal. That application was granted by the Supreme Court in June,

On Thursday, the Board of Immigration Appeals denied Khalil's appeal to drop his deportation case. A final order of removal has been issued. That, as the saying goes, would seem to be that. An immigration appeals board has denied Mahmoud Khalil’s latest bid to dismiss his deportation case, a largely expected ruling that brings the former Columbia University graduate student and Palestinian activist one step closer to re-arrest and possible expulsion. The Board of Immigration Appeals issued the final order of removal on Thursday, according to Khalil’s lawyers. The board’s rulings are not public,

It used to be taken for granted that immigrants to the United States would assimilate, adopt American cultural values, and become Americans. That idea, of course, was lost long ago as the lust for “diversity” and “multiculturalism” overtook the political and media elites, but up until Old Joe Biden opened the floodgates to any sentient being that could be relied upon to vote Democrat, most Americans took for granted the idea that people who settled in this country should obey the existing laws. No more, however. On Wednesday, Shadi Hamid, a Washington Post columnist and professor at Georgetown University,

What does this mean? Perhaps Donald Trump's latest statement is meant to paraphrase a line from the most worthwhile Star Wars film: You have altered the deal. Pray I do not alter it further. Sometime in the next few hours, talks will begin in Islamabad between the US and Iran in an attempt to end the war. Trump agreed to a two-week cease-fire that stopped a massive American attack on energy and transportation infrastructure in exchange for a full re-opening of the Strait of Hormuz and an end to Iranian missile and drone attacks.
