Pope Leo XIV used part of his Palm Sunday message to castigate the United States for attempting to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear power and threatening the world with mass destruction. In doing so, the "American Pope" confused the real enemy in the war. Addressing thousands in St. Peter's Square, the Pope claimed that God rejects the prayers of leaders who wage war. He called the Iran war "atrocious" violence that cannot be justified by faith. He further said that God doesn't hear the prayers of people whose "hands (are) full of blood."

A man who sits in a walled city, with highly restrictive citizenships, and an army protecting him, suffers a little credibility gap when he lectures that we should lower our fences, welcome all comers, and yield to those who want to kill us.

A Christian Pope should be doing all he could do top convert Muslims to Christianity, not make excuses for them.
Accepting Islam as a religion is wrong. They are Satanic worshippers who wish to die to receive Virgins. What could be more misogynist than that? What do the poor Virgins have to live for. A religion that promises pussy in death instead of spiritual life.

The Holy Father (my childhood neighbor) risks demeaning even his predecessors who recognized the evil and danger of Islam and the NECESSITY to sometimes wage real, not just spiritual, war against it as in the call of Pope Pius V and the Battle of Lepanto. Even a Doctor of the Church, St. Thomas Aquinas, acknowledged that some wars are 'Just'.

Nukes would get him, too. What a fool not to recognize the implacable, violent evil that is Islam.

Both Leo and Francis have been a great embarrassment to Catholics the world over. We are in a battle against the forces of evil and they cheer for the other side.

Just so tiresome these useless homilies. But hey, he's protected behind the walls of the Vatican which is located in Italy which is part of NATO and well, as with the rest of NATO - they'll be looking to the USA for protection...

Agree completely with comment #1. Easy to pontificate about what should or should not be. He’s not living in ‘the real world’ nor paying attention to actual facts and ‘truth’ as we see it. Sad and puzzling.

This new pope, Pope Leo's true colors are coming out. He's an anti-war zealot with Trump Derangement Syndrome. He's also a liberal with far Left leanings and doesn't know scripture. He doesn't know there will be times when God/Jesus Christ will lead a nation to remove an evil nation that is murdering millions (Germany.) Was World War II a righteous war Pope Leo? We've heard that the pope at that time was helping the Nazis. That pope was on the wrong side of history. Maybe the Pope Leo should stick to preaching from the scriptures rather than play a politician.

Bear in mind that Catholic doctrine states that the Pope is infallible only in matters of faith and morals, when speaking ex cathedra. So everyone, especially Catholics, should ignore his irrelevant ramblings such as this one. His political views should be ignored.

I'm thinking with one exception (who happens to be the nephew of my late Godfather, a US Army priest and followed in his footsteps and serves as a Catholic priest in that city), nothing good comes out of Chicago.
Prove me wrong. And pizza and hot dogs don't count. Lots of places have great pizza and hot dogs.

For the ten thousandt time, the Pope is a leader on principles, not on their application to specific cases. It is like the division of powers in the US government as it is supposed to work. He can say it is atrocious to kill bazillions of civilians and OK. When he adds that this is what the US is doing and it should stop, he is outside his lane as Pope. he is entitled like anybody to say what he thinks, but everybody knows he is no wiser than anybody else. We listen to him kindly and attentively and then, considering that there is no presumption in his favor - this is our job to do correctly before God - and taking into account the advisors the Vatican supplies, we can and do not listen much. We have to do what is right and there is no escape from that by hiding behind the Pope who is opining outside his responsibilities. Go Trump.

I wonder what “Pope” Leo has to say about the Popes who sponsored the Crusades in the Middle Ages. I had high hopes for him, but he continues to disappoint. As other posters have pointed out, he’s the ultimate hypocrite, living in a walled city-state with his own army to protect him.

So, the prayers of FDR, Churchill, Lincoln, et al. were not heard? I must have a different understanding of scripture. What do I know? Then again, I'm not a Roman Catholic and thereby a heretic. Oh well, it's all in the hands of a just and merciful G-D. Keep lookin' up,

I understand what he is trying to do, and I think we all want to live in a peaceful world, but he is only addressing one side of the issue. He wants us to welcome an unlimited number of immigrants, but never says a word about the responsibilities of the governments of their home countries. He wants us to not respond to Iran's terrorist actions, but says nothing about Iran's leaders and their actions.
Doing nothing is a choice and all choices have consequences.
I will continue to pray not only for peace, but for wisdom to do what is right in God's eyes.
