Spanish lawmaker Alberto Ibáñez called for the imposition of strict controls on the nation’s inbound tourism industry to force it to reduce in scope during a Sunday interview with the Madrid-based Europapress.
Ibáñez is a member of Compromís, a leftist Valencian regionalism coalition. The lawmaker stressed to Europapress that limiting Spain’s tourism industry is necessary, as he believes it has already made it “impossible to live” in cities like Alicante or Valencia.
Europapress reports that Ibáñez recently submitted a request to the Spanish Congress to establish a parliamentary subcommittee to analyze the impact of tourism on people’s quality of life.

Off the top om head I cannot recall any products from Spain worth buying, how the hell are they gonna survive without tourism? Ther most famous export, The Spanish Flu, is the only thing that ever made a difference in the world!

I think he got his terminology mixed up. Tourists pay for food, lodging and sightseeing, then go home. Illegal immigrants are pretend citizens that stab people, rape your women and get everything for free. They also want your country because theirs is a Shiitehole.

Fine by me. I just wish I had plans to go so I could cancel them. I don't go where I am not wanted although I expect there are a lot of Spaniards in the hotel, restaurant and other tourist related businesses that would like to strangle this lefty fool.

Having spent a lot of time in Spain and loved it. What is ruining Spain is your average British tourist. Overweight, opinionated, falling down drunk by noon, wearing weird clothing, bizarre tats, eccentric haircut , and finally bad teeth. Went to Benidorm twice and bit times the Brits were putting on horror shows

Well that’s up to Spain as to how many aliens they allow into their country for any reason. Of course, in that respect, the USA could also limit the number of tourist visas that are given to Spanish citizens each year for them to enter the USA as tourists!

We did a summer study program in Spain for 5 weeks and then traveled around France, Italy, Germany and Switzerland for 2 weeks in 1971. Very interesting, and had a great trip, but the biggest revelation was the return home. If any native born American has doubts about this country, they need to spend a couple of weeks anywhere else. There is something missing or obviously wrong about everywhere we went. You might not know that until you live and breath it. Too many people think life is what they see on TV.

Generalissimo Francisco Franco is looking better and better all the time. At least he protected the borders and cared about Spanish heritage. Spanish culture will cease to exist if the current communist leaders have their way.

Two things:
1. Ok Spain. I'll go to Portugal instead - or Poland
2. WRT to the Spanish Flu. Spain is probably one country where we KNOW the 1918 Influenza epidemic did NOT start. Most likely started in Fort Riley Kansas or maybe a British military base. Spain was a neutral country without censorship so early reports came out of there.
