A Democrat running for Senate in Maine who previously apologized for a tattoo resembling a Nazi symbol is now defending the design as nothing more than a skull-and-crossbones. Graham Platner, who hopes to run against incumbent Republican Senator Susan Collins, was mired in scandal last year when it was revealed he has a tattoo on his chest resembling the Nazi 'Totenkopf' or 'death's head' symbol adopted by Hitler's SS. (Snip) During the interview he also recommended the war movie Come and See, which prominently and repeatedly shows the similar 'Totenkopf' on Nazi uniforms. 'Everybody should watch Come and See,' he

Comments:

He liked parading around with a bad-azz tattoo. Now he can't quite get his story straight.

The movie "Come and See" is mentioned. It portrays the brutality Belarus suffered at the hands of the Nazis and their collaborators, the Ukrainians. The film is on the short list of greatest war movies.

HAVANA - Cuba's national electric grid collapsed on Monday, the country's grid operator said, leaving around 10 million people without power amid a U.S.-imposed oil blockade ‌that has crippled the island's already obsolete generation system. Grid operator UNE said on social media it is investigating the causes of the blackout, the latest in a series of widespread outages that last for hours or days and that this weekend sparked a rare violent protest in the communist-run country. Officials ruled out a major power plant failure, but had still not pinpointed the root cause of the grid collapse, suggesting a problem

NEW YORK CITY – New York City will add 800 more “slow zones” capped at 15 mph by the end of the year, officials said Monday. The move will bring strict speed limits to schools across the city, increasing the number of schools with slow zones to 1,300. City officials said every eligible school across the five boroughs will receive a reduced speed limit by the end of Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s first term. They described the expansion as the largest use of Sammy’s Law, which allows New York City to set its own speed limits. The law is named for

NEW YORK - A new bill could push New York City’s minimum wage as high as $30 an hour, setting the stage for one of the highest local pay floors in the nation. What we know: The proposal would require employers to pay workers at least $25 an hour if they provide qualifying benefits and $30 an hour if they do not. Lawmakers would apply the same standards to independent contractors, including those who perform work through digital labor platforms. Dig deeper: The bill directs the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection to adjust the minimum pay rates each year

NEW YORK -- Both chambers of the state Legislature agree on increasing taxes on the wealthiest New Yorkers and corporations, which Gov. Kathy Hochul has said she will not support. The one-house budget resolutions could raise roughly $5 billion more for the city through a mix of taxes and other state aid. Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who has made tax increases on the wealthiest a signature proposal, said he agrees with the move. Though their proposed tax increases are smaller than Mamdani's, they are both calling to raise a variety of taxes, including the personal income tax and the state's top corporate

Republican Clayton Fuller and Democrat Shawn Harris are advancing to a runoff in the special election to serve out the remainder of former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s term in Congress. Fuller, a local prosecutor and Air National Guard member, is heavily favored in the April 7 runoff in the deep-red northwest Georgia district. He overcame a crowded field of Republican competitors with the help of an endorsement from President Donald Trump in early February. After nearly half a century, Yamaha Motor Co. is moving its U.S. headquarters from California to Georgia. On Tuesday, Gov. Brian Kemp announced that the Japanese company would be relocating to Kennesaw in the next few years. The company said that the relocation will begin at the end of 2026 and last until the end of 2028. The company's headquarters in Cypress, California, had been its home since 1979 after Yamaha acquired the land the year before. The manufacturer of ATVs, boat engines, personal watercraft, and other motorized products had already moved its marine business to Kennesaw in 1999 and

The rumor that's circulating in Middle Eastern political networks claims that Iranian cleric Hojtaba Khamenei may be in poor condition while he struggles to command respect among key figures inside the regime. Mojtaba Khamenei remains widely viewed as the center of Iran's leadership after the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who served as Iranian supreme leader for over 30 years and whose death created a sudden leadership vacuum. Iranian state media later confirmed the killing and declared a 40-day national mourning period as the regime moved quickly to maintain control and reassure supporters that the government remained intact. The Iranian supreme leader has held ultimate authority over Iran's military forces,

France’s government is bolstering the country’s military presence in the Middle East, dispatching its aircraft carrier and other warships, while President Emmanuel Macron engages with key players in the conflict, including Iran, in a bid to position Paris for future diplomatic talks. Macron said that France’s military involvement is strictly “defensive” and aims to avoid making the country a party to the war. He reaffirmed that position after one French soldier was killed Thursday in a drone attack in Iraq. “We are not at war with anyone,” Macron said.

President Trump was stunned to learn last week that US intelligence indicates new Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei may be gay — and that his father, the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, feared his suitability to rule the Islamic Republic for that reason, The Post can reveal. Trump couldn’t contain his surprise and laughed aloud when he was briefed on the intel, according to sources. Others in the room also found it “hilarious” and joined the president’s reaction, while one senior intelligence official “has not stopped laughing about it for days,” said one person familiar with the briefing.

oday, most of those self-identifying as LGBTQ are young women. The growth has been dramatic. In the US, some thirty percent of Gen Z women (age 18-27) are self-identifying as LGBTQ, etc.—mainly lesbian and—compared to around 1-2% for women in the World War 2 generation. This means that almost a third of traditionally marital-age women are likely disinterested in traditional marriage. This is a significant factor in why almost half of Americans are unmarried. As a result of the decline in marriages, the American replacement rate continues its slide south of the 2.1 children per couple needed for replacement. It is now hovering at 1.6. If one argues that lesbian couples
