How Meet the Press Harms Our Democracy

We should all be concerned about serious problems with our elections, the heart of our democracy. But we can’t fix problems that we refuse to face. There was no better example of the head-in-the-sand attitude than what was recently demonstrated by Kristen Welker of NBC’s prestigious Meet the Press, as she held forth with House Speaker Mike Johnson in February, regarding, among other topics, the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. In the wake of the Trump administration’s FBI seizure of 2020 Georgia election records, Welker barked at Johnson that raising questions about the validity of the 2020 election is dangerous to our democracy.

Ever since Nixon chose not to question the obvious voter fraud in Chicago in the 1960 election to Kennedy, "For the good of the country", democrats have thought that Republicans are supposed to concede all obviously bogus elections, because it would be "Dangerous to our democracy.". They play Republicans like saps.

I live in a little apartment building in Lost Angeles - please pray for me - when the 2020 election was decided, via mail-in balloting. My mailbox received two ballots. One with my name. And later, another for another tenant, who had moved out three years before. So, please don't tell me the 2020 election was "the most secure in our history." Kristen Welker is just the latest mouthpiece for the Radical Left on Meet the Press.

There is nothing "prestigious" about Meet the Press, I can't recall when I quit watching. Long ago.

Why every candidate for Congress should

By blocking a Senate vote that would let the SAVE Act become law, Democrats are setting themselves up for big trouble — since their arguments against voter-ID are so transparently absurd. Per Pew, 83% of all American adults support requiring some form of ID to vote in US elections — and that includes 71% of Democrats. Which explains the massive alliance of left-wing groups mobilized to fight the voter-ID measure that should appear on the ballot this fall in California, a state Democrats now completely dominate. The ACLU, Common Cause and so on would love to derail the measure before it faces a vote, even though

Critics who call Operation Epic Fury folly or a distraction are missing the point: Iran is just one front in an ongoing, evolving global contest that includes Russia and China. It stretches to other fronts as well, though President Donald Trump has shut down the one in Venezuela and looks to have Cuba headed the same way. But Tehran is much more entangled with Moscow and Beijing, exchanging arms, technical know-how and intelligence. Even now, Russia is giving Iran high-quality intelligence to target missiles on US installations, experts conclude: Such precision is beyond the limited capabilities of the Islamic Republic’s handful of military-grade satellites.

Former President Joe Biden told mourners at Rev. Jesse Jackson’s memorial service Friday that he is "a h--- of a lot smarter than most of you," a pointed remark that stood out during his tribute to the late civil rights leader. Biden made the comment while recounting how he was mocked as a child for his stutter and how speech impediments are often mistaken for a lack of intelligence. "If I told you I had a cleft palate or clubfoot, none of you would have laughed," Biden said. "But it’s OK to laugh at stuttering. … It’s the one place where people think you’re stupid.

Perhaps we forgot what it’s like when politicians act on their promises. Perhaps our enemies forgot as well. For decades, American presidents — Democratic and Republican — have said the theocratic dictatorship in Iran cannot have nuclear weapons. For decades, those same administrations were strung along by the ayatollahs. American negotiators — like their European counterparts — sat through years of negotiations. And every time, the revolutionary government in Iran got closer to the bomb. Well, not this time.

The potential appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei is proving what Israel has long known: It has no intention of ever abandoning its destructive doctrine: Death to America, and death to Israel. Mojtaba Khamenei, the second-eldest son of former Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei, is reportedly set to succeed his slain father as Iran’s next supreme leader, as the Islamic Republic moves to preserve continuity while battling Israel and the United States. He has long been considered his father’s chosen heir apparent. He is reported to have formed close ties with the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and is thought to have gained increasing control over the regime’s decision-making

State Rep. James Talarico said just that on Tuesday night — "A little bit of hope is a dangerous thing" — and he meant it as a call to action, a summons to the faithful. But the line lingers in the Texas air for a different reason. Democrats are about to invest a great deal of time, money and, yes, hope in the notion that a young state legislator from Round Rock is the man who will break a nearly four-decade winless drought for his party in the Lone Star State. Hope can animate. It can also delude.

“When riots broke out recently at a prison in Cuba’s Ciego de Avila province, the videos that circulated showed something remarkable,” reports Daniel Allott at The Hill: “Inmates were shouting, ‘Long live Trump!’ ” Along with a growing dissident movement, this “marks a significant psychological shift inside a nation long defined by resistance to US intervention.” Independent journalist Camila Acosta reports many Cubans “long ago” stopped believing the US embargo was behind “every shortage, every blackout, every empty pharmacy shelf.” Notes Allot: “When Cubans protest — and there have been hundreds of demonstrations since July 2021 — they do not chant ‘Down with the embargo.’ They chant ‘Down with [President Miguel] Díaz-Canel.’

Gavin Newsom endorsed the lie Tuesday that Israel is an “apartheid” state — a damning sign of where the Democratic Party is headed, and how far it’s already sunk. At an event promoting his new book, the California governor said Israel’s critics are “appropriately” calling it an “apartheid” state — i.e., a knockoff of South Africa’s old segregationist regime. This is a lie — one so egregious that many deem it a form of antisemitism. Apartheid South Africa denied blacks the vote and forced them to endure separate hospitals, separate schools, and even separate bathrooms. Arabs, 20% of Israel’s population, vote and serve in the government and even the military; there is no segregation
Iran war: Why is Russia not coming to

The beleaguered Iranian regime, with very few international allies, has been counting on Moscow's support amid the ongoing US-Israeli strikes, but so far it has been left deeply disappointed. Just hours after Israeli and US bombs started hitting Tehran on Saturday, Russia came out with a blunt statement, with the country's permanent representative to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, calling it an "unprovoked act of armed aggression against a sovereign and independent UN member state." Moscow is one of Tehran's few but staunchest allies, and a possible collapse of the Iranian regime could be a blow for its geopolitical and economic interests. Then why has it not come to Tehran's rescue?

A major talking point among Democrats and their media handmaidens is that President Trump launched a “war of choice” against Iran. Given American casualties and the earth-rattling impact, the criticism could be a powerful political argument in the midterm elections — if it’s true. But it’s not true. In fact, we now can be certain that the war on Iran is not a war of choice. It is instead a war of American self-defense and maybe even a war of survival for Western civilization and Israel.

President Trump didn’t attend the star-studded memorial service for the Rev. Jesse Jackson but he was at the top of mind for many of its speakers. Kamala Harris, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Al Sharpton all used their eulogies to take pot shots at the president, his policies, and his vision for America. “Let me just say I predicted a lot about what’s happening right now,” Harris bragged as the crowd roared in applause. “I’m not into saying I told you so but we did see it coming." At times, you could be forgiven for having thought that Kristi Noem wanted to be a uniformed Department of Homeland Security officer rather than the secretary of the department. Democrat state Rep. Dave Pinto stated, "Yesterday, there was a presentation from a group seeking to change how we address organized retail theft, and I actually had not occurred to me to ask, it probably would have been good, it would have been good to make sure that they would study sort of the benefit of shoplifting and of retail theft because perhaps people are relying on that and sort of using that. That effort, the New York Times reported, was “particularly aggressive in how it would erode the fortunes of billionaires” and “would cut in half the wealth of the typical billionaire after 15 years,

A long-time U.S. Supreme Court reporter for the New York Times, Linda Greenhouse, recently wrote a surprisingly candid description of how U.S. Chief Justice John Roberts added "gratuitous" language into his opinion on the recent tariff case, personally criticizing the president on record. Greenhouse conveniently frames the justice's indulgence, however, as a legitimate "warning" to both the president and "the waiting world." She states that Roberts "is losing patience with Trump." Apparently, the chief justice is thought to be entitled to act as a shadow president.

Does being an European "ally" of America even mean anything anymore? That's a valid question after several NATO nations not only initially denied the use of their military bases during Operation Epic Fury, the ongoing attack on Iran, but also offered tacit support for the Islamic regime. Perhaps the most public betrayal came from Spain, whose left-wing prime minister claimed the United States was violating "international law."Given Spain's history over the last century or so, it wasn't exactly surprising that they'd take the side of Islamic fascists over the country that pays for their defense.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) were expected to vote “no,” a full 53 proved somewhat surprising.
