The "French far-left"? What the hell did those starry-eyed peace-and-love idealists do to deserve that designation? Well, just a few hours north of where I chance to be, on the streets of Lyons, they beat a guy to death: Quentin Deranque. - or, if you read the worthless French newspapers, merely "Quentin D", it being a convention in the Gallic press that the dead should be rendered anonymous and generic even in their own slaughter.
M Deranque was a twenty-three-year-old student, who had gone along to a protest by seven ladies of conservative bent. He was there to keep an eye on his friends in case "the left" - an Antifa

The armed madman who was shot and killed by the Secret Service after he snuck onto President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate Sunday was reportedly obsessed with the Jeffrey Epstein files — and implored others to “raise awareness” just days before the deadly encounter. Austin Tucker Martin, 21, was gunned down by local Florida police and members of the Secret Service after he brandished his shotgun in a “shooting position” on Trump’s property, authorities said. He was reported missing by his family after he vanished Saturday. His mother, Melissa Martin, made a missing person poster for him, describing the silver Volkswagen he

President Donald Trump and his allies are launching a double-barreled U.S. census strategy that could eliminate a big electoral and federal funding mechanism for blue states: illegal immigrants. Missouri Attorney
General Katherine Hanaway said her office is asking the courts to bar the federal government from counting immigrants living in the country illegally when determining congressional representation and federal funding, a move she argued should shift political power among the states for decades.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has reportedly taken steps to prepare for the possibility of his assassination or removal as tensions with the United States and Israel intensify.
According to a New York Times report published on Sunday, Khamenei elevated longtime ally Ali Larijani to serve as the country’s de facto decision-maker during January’s anti-government unrest.
The move has effectively sidelined Iran’s elected president, Masoud Pezeshkian.
Larijani, a former Revolutionary Guards commander and current secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, is now taking on an expanded role in the state’s affairs.

Unfortunately, part of the story of the 2026 Winter Olympics was the number of American athletes who decided to speak negatively about the United States rather than display pride for the country they had the privilege to represent on the global stage.
Here are the U.S. athletes whose political comments drew the most attention during the Games, and how they fared. Spoiler alert: not well.
Hunter Hess, Freestyle Skiing
What Hess said: "It brings up mixed emotions to represent the U.S. right now… there's obviously a lot going on that I'm not the biggest fan of, and I think a lot of people aren't," the American skier said on February

Hockey star Dylan Larkin thinks his late NHL teammate, Johnny Gaudreau, may have cosmically had a hand in Team USA's win in the gold medal game at the Winter Olympics.
After the United States defeated Canada 2-1 in the highly-anticipated match on Sunday, Feb, 22, Larkin, 29, spoke to reporters, including PEOPLE, about how the team has remembered the former star during the Games. Gaudreau, who died in Aug. 2024 along with his brother Matthew when they were hit by an alleged drunk driver, was on track to make the Olympic team.
"Johnny and Matty should be here and that is still the biggest loss that all of us at USA hockey,

Jack Hughes was feeling "proud" to be an American — and ready to get back to the U.S. for some dental work — after scoring the Olympic gold-winning goal.
Moments after Hughes, 24, sealed Team USA's win over rival Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics on Sunday, Feb. 22 with his overtime goal, which came 20 minutes after he had several teeth knocked out mid-game, the NHL star was filled with enthusiasm for his country and his teammates.
"This is all about our country right now. I love the U.S.A. I love my teammates, it’s unbelievable," Hughes told NBC. "The USA Hockey brotherhood, it’s so strong. We had

The U.S. has arrested Venezuela’s former leader and appears on the verge of toppling Cuba’s regime through stiff economic sanctions. Are Americans tired of this? No. In fact, a majority want the U.S. to either maintain its level of activity in the Western Hemisphere or to expand it, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows.
The national online poll, taken from Jan. 27 to Jan. 29 by 1,384 adult voters, has a margin of error of +/-2.9 percentage points. The poll’s main message: If Americans are tired of President Donald Trump’s activist foreign policy in the Western Hemisphere — jokingly called by some the “Donroe Doctrine”

During an appearance on Breitbart News Saturday, Breitbart News Deputy Political Editor Bradley Jaye asked why the State of the Union is “so important” and why so many people tune in to watch it. Bednar explained that “the electricity in the room is incredible.” First of all, it’s just — the electricity in the room is incredible. You have the president, you have the Cabinet, you have Members of Congress, and special guests. They really all tie the room together. And, it’s just an opportunity where, actually, Americans can come and celebrate, not just the policies, not just the wins, but actually, just come together …

On Sunday, we reported on the developing mess in Mexico: The resort town of Puerto Vallarta locked down, travel warnings, tourists "advised" to stay within the resorts, to shelter in place. There were rumors that the fighting was kicked off by the Mexican military's killing a notorious cartel goblin, Ruben "Nemesio" Oseguera Cervantes, known as "El Mencho," leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). That killing has now been confirmed. Now, over Sunday night, Mexico is plunged into warfare between the Mexican government and the cartels; the military is again involved, and there are indications that the cartels may have the government outgunned.

“Are you crazy?” hollers the second guy. “Lions can reach a top speed of 50 mph! You can’t outrun a lion!”
“I don’t need to outrun the lion,” huffs the first guy. “I just gotta outrun you.”
That’s the blessing and the curse of binary decision-making: Unless perfect is on the ballot, whoever the voters choose will have flaws.
It’s a curse for good governance, because it means the process itself is inherently flawed. Its features and bugs are one and the same; it’ll always be an arduous, inefficient, slow-moving system. (Which, in all honesty, is often a positive.)
But it’s a yuuuge blessing for candidates, because having flaws and character defects isn’t fatal.

FBI Director Kash Patel responded to criticism after video footage surfaced of him celebrating with the Team USA Men’s Hockey team after their win against Canada.
In a post on X, Patel expressed that he “was extremely humbled” when Team USA’s Men’s Hockey team invited him “into the locker room” to celebrate their Gold Medal win.
“For the very concerned media – yes, I love America and was extremely humbled when my friends, the newly minted Gold Medal winners on Team USA, invited me into the locker room to celebrate this historic moment with the boys,” Patel wrote. “Greatest country on earth and greatest sport on earth.”

While much of the transgender debate has surrounded restricting so-called gender affirming care to minors, most acknowledge that legal adults can make the decisions to undergo hormone treatments and consent to such surgeries. However, with the federal government and certain states restricting taxpayer dollars from funding youth transgender surgeries, hospitals that offered this service are closing their doors in order to protect their Medicare and Medicaid funding. This has also produced a chilling effect on the less lucrative adult-end of transgender surgeries.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), Tennessee's sole provider of adult transition surgeries, has decided to discontinue the practice, "citing operational limitations."

A few days ago, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) gave America some very welcome news. During a press conference he said that his Democratic members had two choices with regard to President Trump‘s upcoming State of the Union address: “The two options that are in front of us, in our house, is either attend with silent defiance, or to not attend.” This will definitely be a win-win for everyone who tunes in Tuesday evening to hear what the President has to say about his first-year accomplishments and future plans for the country.
