Trump’s Iran Conundrum: Navigating Talks
Amid Tensions and Turmoil

As year two of the Trump 2.0 presidency begins, President Trump faces a pivotal decision on Iran: pursue a grand bargain with the Iranian regime through negotiations or leverage military might to undermine the regime and bolster efforts by the Iranian people to oust their murderous government. Iran’s domestic upheaval presents both risks and opportunities for U.S. policy. Protests that erupted in late December 2025 over economic woes, inflation, and governance failures have spread to all 31 provinces, even loyalist strongholds, marking the regime’s weakest moment since 1979. Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s regime responded with a deadly crackdown, including mass arrests and executions.

Read what Kurt Schlichter has to say about our dealings with the mullahs - sans any evidence or progress in dealing with them and given their unrelenting behaiors, you might end up agreeing with him. Too bad we weren't in a position to decide and move while they were murdering their thousands of protesting citizens...

President Trump launched his TrumpRx website on Thursday, vowing Americans would “save a fortune” from cheaper drug prices on everything from Ozempic to fertility treatments. “This is a very big deal. People are going to save a lot of money and be healthy,” Trump declared at an event announcing the new program. Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, was at the launch and boasted that “America will lose about 100 million pounds this year” from cheaper GLP-1s drugs.

Mayor Karen Bass claims that she did not edit the LAFD’s after-action report on the Palisades Fire to shield the department and the city from responsibility. She admits, however, that she told the authors to check information about weather and budgets. That sounds like it might have been benign — until you consider that weather and budgets are at the core of what went wrong last January. The National Weather Service predicted an extreme high wind event, with life-threatening winds, days before January 7. The mayor knew about these predictions and left the country anyway. Ultimately,

In my meandering imagination, I was a liberal, yearning to join the anti-ICE peaceful protest in Minneapolis and trying to figure out how I would let our government know how strenuously I object to their policy of deporting illegal aliens. I summoned up an article I had read by the esteemed Daniel Greenfield in which he spelled out in vivid detail the exact kinds of people I would be supporting, defending, and advocating for, all who had been charged with or convicted of the following crimes:

Hamas terrorist Muhammad Issam Hassan al-Habil, who, according to the Israel Defense Forces, killed 19-year-old surveillance soldier Corporal Noa Marciano while she was held hostage in Gaza, is no longer with us, the IDF reported Wednesday. The Hamas cell commander was eliminated in an airstrike in Gaza City’s Shati refugee camp, they announced. The IDF alleged that the savagely violent group violated the fragile ceasefire negotiated by the Trump administration, and that this was the consequence. So long:

Experts are warning that a new social media platform launched on January 28 exclusively for artificial intelligence bots is “a security nightmare.” Modeled after Reddit, “Moltbook” allows autonomous AI “agents” to post, comment, upvote, and interact with each other in real time. AI agents are intelligent digital workers that actively perform tasks on behalf of users or organizations. The platform was created by entrepreneur Matt Schlicht, who used his own AI agent, Clawd Clawderberg, to manage and run the site. The AI agents on Moltbook are primarily powered by OpenClaw (formerly Moltbot/Clawdbot), an open-source, locally-run AI system developed by Austrian developer Peter Steinberger.

Las Vegas Police and the FBI raided a illegal Chinese biological lab running out of a Las Vegas home on January 31, collecting more than 1,000 samples. Several people allegedly became sick after being exposed to the laboratory in the home’s garage, 8 News Now reported. “Initial search of the residence on Sugar Springs identified a bio-safety hood, a bio-safety sticker, a centrifuge, multiple refrigerators, red-brown unknown liquids in gallon-sized containers and refrigerated vials with unknown liquids,” said Christopher Delzotto, FBI Special Agent in Charge at the Las Vegas office.

The prevailing wisdom in Washington is that Republicans are all bark and no bite when it comes to channeling their disdain of Obamacare into action. The truth is, the GOP actually has a pretty good story to tell. It’s not often that you hear Republicans discuss what they’ve done to prevent some of Obamacare’s most harmful provisions from coming to life, but GOP lawmakers have quietly chipped away at the law for years. During President Trump’s first term, Republicans eliminated Obamacare’s individual mandate, repealed its “Cadillac tax,” terminated the law’s Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), and axed its medical device tax.

Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC’s “Today” show anchor Savannah Guthrie, has been reported missing, and law enforcement described the scene they encountered at her Arizona home as “very concerning.” Homicide detectives were sent in, which is not standard practice in a missing person case, and Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said that the house is a crime scene. There were volunteers, search-and-rescue teams, dogs, Border Patrol agents, and helicopters deployed in the search on Sunday. They have now been sent home to rest. “We will call them in again if we need them, but right now we don’t see this as a search mission, but a crime scene,” Nanos said.
Appeasement Has Failed: Britain Must Finally

It is a grim indictment of European timidity that only the slaughter of thousands of innocent protesters on the streets of Iran finally forced the European Union to act. For decades, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has been the backbone of repression at home and terror abroad. Its crimes were never hidden. They were merely ignored. Now, quite belatedly, Brussels has moved and only one shameful outlier remains, the United Kingdom Britain’s refusal to fast-track proscribing the IRGC rests on a feeble and frankly ludicrous argument, that one cannot designate an “organ of a state” as a terrorist organisation.

The recent announcement that California led the nation in losing domestic migrants may seem like another nail in the Golden State’s coffin. It’s just another piece of bad news for a state that, despite having the most billionaires in the world, suffers the nation’s highest poverty rate, per recent Census data. The state’s young people are faring poorly: Among teenagers, the unemployment rate tops 21%, just short of twice the national average. And for those under 30, California’s jobless rate exceeds that of every other state except for Mississippi. So, is the onetime capital of the future finished? If it stays on the current path, with ever-expanding government,

The plan was put in place after Comer rejected requests for a closed-door deposition and written testimony. On Thursday, the former Secretary of State accused Comer of “moving the goalposts,”

The Benicia refinery began shutting down on Saturday, four months earlier than planned, a former Valero manager told the California Globe Tuesday. Thermal imaging showed the facility went cold as the Crimson Pipeline – which transports crude oil from Southern to Northern California – was also taken offline. “We are in an unprecedented oil crisis,” oil expert Mike Ariza told the publication. Valero Energy Corp. announced its plans last spring to pull the plug on its 145,000-barrel-per-day refinery by April,

Traditionally, New York City mayors are supposed to visit injured police officers in the hospital, but Mamdani being such a historical figure is instead visiting a man who tried to stab a police officer in the hospital. Mamdani visited the attempted stabber in the hospital using him as the poster stabber for his police defunding campaign. “This situation underscores just how urgently we need a different and more effective mental health response system,” Mamdani argued. “Jabez needs mental health treatment, not criminal prosecution by a district attorney.”

The Trump administration said Thursday that it has finalized a rule that creates a new government schedule that will make it easier for administrations to fire federal employees it views as hindering its agenda. The rule, dubbed Schedule Policy/Career, converts a wide range of federal policy-related employees into a status similar to that of political appointees who can be fired at will. The change is expected to impact up to 50,000 federal workers. Unions have opposed the change, arguing it politicizes the federal workforce, which previously was intended to be neutral and expertise-oriented, according to The Hill. “This is not about people’s views or ideas,"
