A Washington state mother captured on video the moment she confronted her 16-year-old son, who ditched class to join an anti-ICE protest, and his refusal to get into her vehicle, claiming that the protest was school-sanctioned.
The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows the frustrated mom, Rachel, pulling up to the protest site and ordering her son to get in the car, only for him to refuse, insisting it’s his “right” because the school permitted it.
In the footage, the mother can be heard saying, “You’re not skipping school for this (expletive). Get in the car.”
Her son retorts, “No, it is my right,” before walking away.

We would have been severely disciplined for even thinking such defiance!

I wonder if the parents can file suit against the district. Taking kids out of class without the parent’s knowledge and thereby denying instruction must be illegal and the school should not receive one dime for every day and every kid they allowed to walk out. The next Board of Ed meeting should be heavily attended by irate parents and heads should roll.

Ok, then it is the parents right to put that kid on the curb with a bag of clothing.

And, this is how he’s being set up for failure. A lack of good parenting and a false education. Unfortunately this is a nationwide problem. Where will he be in 10 years?

Maybe he didn't get in the car then but I bet he caught holy h*ll when he got home. That's mom's right.

Let's have a follow up story on what happened when he came home that night. If it is his right to protest and disobey mom, it is mom's right to remove his cell phone, video games, TV, and internet. And no driving either.

Bet that CPS would be backing that kid up and sueing the parents for violating his human rights.
Government owns those kids.

Yank the kid out of the government indoctrination center.
Explain to the kid that the school was using him as a political pawn.
Further explain to the kid that if he wants to live, he can never talk to his mom that way again.

My dad would've beat my azz to a pulp if I pulled some crap like this. I remember our h.s. principal telling us if we staged a walkout to protest the Vietnam War, everyone participating, would be suspended and your grades for the semester knocked down one letter. The walkout never happened.

THIS is why so many families are home schooling these days. Teachers have become community organizers.

What? Arguing in the street with a minor son?
At the 1st syllable from son Ma should have said, "Get in the car or in 1 hour you won't have a cell phone."
Then turn her attention to the principal and threatened to sue. She'd have more clout if Dad was there to flex some muscle.
Under no circumstances argue with idiot yute at volume in the open.

Teachers and the parents are to blame as is the principal. These kids should all be suspended from school and teachers should be fired for teaching the garbage they do.
You don't start disciplining a child when they are 12 , you start from early on. The wooden spoon works at age 3

Also, don't pay for college or any other support after he graduates from High School (if he does).
You can do what you want kid, but not on MY dime.
Life as a disrespectful jerk can be very hard.
Footnote: Watching your kid suffer for their mistakes can be even harder on the parent but you are not making things better for them by letting them do stupid stuff.

My how the world has changed in fifty years. My father would've whooped my *** AND kicked me out of the house for some such nonsense. Most of my friends would've received the same fate. Apparently not nowadays.

I remember a black mother finding her high school son who ditched school to attend a saint GF riot. She told him to get his you know what home. Tough guy immediately started walking towards home, and mom went back to work.
I would not be writing this post if when I was growing up, I spoke to my mom, grandmother, dad, one of my great aunties, or even a neighbor that way or didn't obey what they told me to do. Folks in my day pounced first then they followed up with details. And yes, they apologized when they got it wrong, but the message of the pouncing was clearly understood. That message was, "You better not, EVER!"

If I had smarted back at my mother like that, I would have been marching with no teeth and my mother's foot hanging out of my backside!! This kid should have been grabbed by his ear and thrown in the back of the car. Who is the parent and who is the kid???
