Republican Rep. Mike Lawler is breaking from the Trump administration on its deportation push, calling for leniency for some illegal immigrants in an essay for The New York Times. “The deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis this month were tragic and preventable,” Lawler, R-N.Y., writes in an essay published Tuesday. “No matter where you stand on immigration enforcement, the shootings show that what the country has been doing is not working.”
Lawler, who represents a district in New York’s Hudson Valley that favored Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris over now-President Donald Trump, argues in the essay that Congress must codify new immigration

The socialist government in Spain is set to give amnesty to half a million illegal migrants as part of a deal with the far-left.
According to Madrid’s ABC newspaper, over 500,000 illegals will be offered the chance to gain residency permits in Spain if they can prove they have been in the country before December 31, 2025, have no criminal record, and can demonstrate that they were in Spain for at least five months before their application.
The amnesty programme, which will run until June 30, is set to be implemented by Royal Decree, meaning the government will not need parliament’s approval to enact it.

The European Union has agreed to open its borders to mass immigration from India as it signed the bloc’s largest free trade agreement.
EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in a press conference in New Delhi alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday that the bloc has agreed to a “mobility” scheme to allow for the influx of “students, researchers, seasonal and highly skilled workers” from India into Europe.
The EU chief also said that Brussels will open a “Legal Gateway Office” in India to help facilitate migrants’ move to Europe.
“This is good for our economies. This is good for the friendship between our people. This openness benefits us all,”

Alex Pretti was “known” to federal law enforcement before he was fatally shot, and had broken a rib during a physical altercation with ICE agents a week before he was killed by a Border Patrol official on Saturday, sources say. Pretti “had a physical encounter with federal agents about a week before he was shot and killed by law enforcement,” CNN reported Tuesday. The incident unfolded after Pretti stopped his car upon observing ICE agents chasing a family on foot and got involved by “protesting their attempt to detain other individuals,” the outlet reported.
He was then tackled by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents —

An unhinged Virginia nurse who encouraged medical professionals to drug ICE agents with paralytic meds was swiftly canned.
Malinda Cook, a nurse anesthetist at Virginia Commonwealth University Health, was fired by the hospital on Tuesday after she spewed the disturbing remarks in a spate of TikTok videos.
Cook, who was identified by local media, blasted out her so-called “sabotage” tactics as anti-ICE riots exploded across the country. “Sabotage tactic, or at least scare tactic. All the medical providers, grab some syringes with needles on the end,” the nurse said on one clip spreading on social media.
“Have them full of saline or succinylcholine, you know, whatever. Whatever.

Federal court documents allege that anti-ICE agitators who disrupted a worship service at Cities Church blocked stairways to the childcare area, preventing parents from reaching their children amid the chaos.
According to an affidavit, one victim told investigators that parishioners attempted to retrieve their children from childcare but “the agitators were blocking the stairs, and the parents were unable to get to their children.” (snip) Other accounts include an agitator telling a child that their parents were “Nazis” who would “burn in hell.”

Enraged Palisades wildfire victims are slamming “Commiefornia” Democrats for dunking on President Trump’s executive order that would expedite the rebuilding process — and get them back home.
Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass were ripped Tuesday for their lackluster efforts to get the devastated enclave get back on its feet — and for then having the gall to pooh-pooh Trump’s generous plan.
“Totally deflecting and not even sitting on the topic,” one Palisades resident fumed. “I don’t understand why the state would [oppose the aid], other than they want to oppose anything that this current administration does.”
Comments:
Turns out there was good reason the liquid smelled “vinegary”. Apple cider vinegar does smell kinda vinegary.
