The Uncontainable Embers of Iran’s Uprising

The day of reckoning for Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and the cabal that has governed a proud nation through a deluge of blood may finally be at hand. What ignited on January 6 as a strike by Tehran’s Grand Bazaar merchants—born of a plummeting currency and a crushing economic malaise—has metastasized into a nationwide rebellion. What began as a desperate cry for livelihoods has evolved with startling speed into a fundamental challenge to the regime’s very existence. In the western reaches of Ilam Province, the "rebellious youth" of Abdanan and Malekshahi recently forced the regime’s Praetorian Guard —

Tehran Costco, I can see it in my mind's eye. Not too long now. Want to try the chicken and pizza. My card will work.

Just a matter of time before Khamenei and his thugs leave or are dispatched. Meanwhile, Putie Poot has his hands full killing off his military in Ukraine. I rather doubt he'll help out in Iran other than giving Khamenei free room and board in russkie land. And doubt he is willing to open a second front in Venezuela and the Americas in general.

I am wondering if the transition of Iran government would have already occurred if not for a palate of cash from Nobama.

Let's not get too far out over our skis on this. I distinctly remember Dan Rather saying, while watching the guy standing in front of the Chinese Army tank in 1989, 'They won't be able to put the genie back in the bottle'. He assumed there was no way the CCP could survive the general uprising of the Chinese people. Then came the Tiananmen Square massacre. They just killed the genie. It looks like the mullets can't stop this, but it is not a foregone conclusion. And the 'crown prince' Reza Pahlavi needs to shut his mouth and go away. Far away. He will NOT be reinstated to the Peacock Throne of Persia! All he is accomplishing by saying anything at this point is only helping the mullets.

There is a massive, unaddressed for decades water shortage. This leads to a food shortage. There is an electricity shortage, too. And the imams have been shoveling money to foreign terrorists by the truckload, while the country's infrastructure, fundamental to life in a desert climate, crumbles. This is as much about not enough water, not enough food and not enough electricity as it is anything else.

There is a battle across the Anglosphere on the Right side of the political spectrum. We see it in Britain between a ‘we mean business on immigration’ insurgent Reform Party riding high in the polls and the established Tory Party that really did nothing (and repeatedly broke manifesto promises) on that issue and a host of other issues for 14 years. We see it in Australia between a lifeless, Labour-lite dominated Liberal Party – that is unelectable – and the various conservative splinter parties, most noticeably One Nation. And we see it, in a different guise, even in the US.
Newsom Strains To Flip Script on California’s Failures 0 replies

It’s an odd predicament for a leading Democratic presidential contender. Gavin Newsom’s biggest strength—political spin and performance come almost second nature to him—could also be his biggest liability as he strains to remake the tarnished image of the state he has governed for the last seven years. Newsom, with his smooth-talking, rapid-fire responses and his attempt to out-Trump Trump on social media aggression, is everything Kamala Harris wasn’t in 2024. But neither Californian can easily shake the biggest millstone dragging down their White House ambitions. Their failed progressive policies have sullied the Golden State’s image, driving up prices, homelessness, and mismanagement.

The hospital lobby has shown its cards. In December, the American Hospital Association and several safety-net systems filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration in an effort to block a one-year pilot program created by the Health Resources and Services Administration to test reforms to the 340B drug discount program. They are not afraid that the pilot will fail. They are terrified that it will succeed and expose how much they rake in from a program that was supposed to serve vulnerable patients.

Woke colleges and universities across the country are being forced to do with less and are slashing thousands of jobs. This is a good thing. Higher education in America has become fat and bloated. At some schools, there are almost as many administrators as there are students. And people still wonder why tuition has gone up so much in recent decades. There is no need for an ‘assistant vice president of campus diversity’ yet many schools have them. Maybe they should start cutting those positions first. A new report from Inside Higher Education says the university system is bleeding jobs.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has a habit of taking to his childish social media accounts, and boasting about how great his state has fared under his leadership, especailly compared to red states like Texas and Florida, which he takes every opportunity to badmouth in the media as well. Oddly, he never mentions the statistics put out annually by U-Haul that have a predictable trend in recent years with blue states taking many of the prime spots, and California has once again garnered the top spot on it although it's hardly something any governor would boast about.

People in Iran’s capital shouted from their homes and rallied in the street Thursday night after a call by the country’s exiled crown prince for a mass demonstration, witnesses said, a new escalation in the protests that have spread nationwide across the Islamic Republic. Internet access and telephone lines in Iran cut out immediately after the protests began. The protest represented the first test of whether the Iranian public could be swayed by Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, whose fatally ill father fled Iran just before the country’s 1979 Islamic Revolution. Demonstrations have included cries in support of the shah, something that could bring a death sentence in the past —

The Russian Foreign Ministry on Thursday rejected the latest US-backed offering to end the Russia-Ukraine war, issuing a blistering rebuff that threatens to blow up President Trump’s peace plan. A terse statement from Moscow’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs slammed the US-European proposal for security assurances for Ukraine, saying the protection plan amounts to “a true axis of war.” “The document turned out to be extremely far from a peace settlement. The declaration is not aimed at achieving a lasting peace and security but rather at continuing the militarization, escalation and further conflict aggravation,” the ministry claimed.

The half-dozen billionaires made their moves before New Year’s Day — the cutoff date to avoid a potential one-time tax of 5% on fortunes exceeding $1 billion — which California residents will vote on in November, according to Bloomberg News. NBC News reported that a group of people began trying to block ICE agents as they were carrying out “targeted operations” in Minneapolis. In the course of this, a woman allegedly used her vehicle to attack agents. Homeland Security posted to X, “Today, ICE officers in Minneapolis were conducting targeted operations when rioters began blocking ICE officers and one of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them—an act of domestic terrorism.”

For days now, Democrats have been crying foul over Trump's capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro. Despite years of Democrats literally calling for Maduro’s ouster, the party has completely flip-flopped, calling it an illegal operation, a war crime, and, of course, an impeachable offense. Then, on Monday, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced that his department has launched formal disciplinary proceedings against Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) over the November 2025 video in which Kelly and five other Democrats urged service members to refuse what they portrayed as “illegal orders.” As PJ Media previously reported, the department has already issued a formal Letter of Censure for Kelly’s “pattern of reckless misconduct,”

Cuz we will bring it to you," Bilal said. In a dig at President Donald Trump she warned that "the criminal in the White House would not be able to keep" ICE agents from heading to jail.

Good, who moved to the city last year, linked up with the anti-ICE activists through her 6-year-old son’s woke charter school, which boasts that it puts “social justice first” and prioritizes “involving kids in political and social activism,” multiple local sources said. “She was a warrior. This afternoon, Tim Walz called a press conference in which he threatened civil war. It was one of the most extraordinary performances by an American political leader since the Confederates seceded in 1861 (snip)We have never seen anything like it, not just in Minnesota but anywhere in America, since the Civil War: a governor threatening to call out the National Guard to forcibly resist federal authority and prevent the enforcement of our national laws. George Wallace didn’t do that. Ross Barnett didn’t do that. Walz can’t seriously think that the Minnesota National Guard can militarily resist federal authority.

Minnesota’s state and local authorities — Governor Walz, Attorney General Ellison, and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, to take only the leading figures — have all but explictly called for resistance to federal law enforcement in Minnesota. Walz, for example, has referred to ICE as the Gestapo and called for “a firewall” against it in Minnesota. Walz and fellow Democrats support a form of what was called “massive resistance” when Senator Harry Byrd sought to block the integration of public schools in the era of Southern segregation.
