Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) will give students the option of learning from home through February 12 following the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent, according to local media citing the president of a teachers union. The school district, which has an enrolment of about 29,000 students, had previously said there would be no classes for the rest of the week “due to safety concerns” after Wednesday’s shooting. According to Fox 9, Marcia Howard, the president of the Minneapolis Federation of Educators (MFE), wrote on Facebook that students will be given the option to learn from home

Comments:

Take a whole month off! The teacher's union will milk this to the last drop.

Why not have a moratorium on paying state taxes in MN until Feb 12th? Don't taxpayers deserve a break since the state has been ripping them off to the tune of billions?

Their protests have been woefully under attended. Soros needs more boots on the ground and on the accelerators of vehicles. High school kids will pad the numbers and their attendance at the protests will exceed their school attendance. We need to have a crew of strong volunteers with pickup driving thru the demonstration areas to remove the pallets of bricks and propane tanks that will surely appear.

Just what Minneapolis needs - young energetic rioters with George Floyd/BLM experience. And of course they'll pay taxes on the cash money they will be paid by Soros and his friends. Face it - these teens aren't getting an real education in school anyway - so what will a month off matter?

Great plan Democrats. Instill maximum fear into the genreal population and make sure that everyone knows that it is too dangerous to go to school in person due to ICE enforcing the laws. The real reason for unrest and safety concerns are actiists and agitators interfering with federal law anforcement creating dangerous situations throughout the city. THe real danger to students and Minneapolis citizens are ILLEGAL alien criminals being allowed sanctuary stautus in the city/state. The real danger is from politicians like Walz and Frey who continually criticize and stir the pot, agitating the already volatile crowds of activist protestors. Federal law enforcement is not the problem. The people tring to stop federal law enforcement are the problem and real danger to the Minneapolis students and population in general.

Well that shoots this semester to hell. Home E schooling does not work. Can't go to school kiddies because of the big bad officers. Bad, bad officers. If FJB hadn't let all these lowlifes into America they would not have to be hunted down and deported. Of course the mayor and governor calling for riots (wink, wink) is not being discussed. I am sure many are disappointed that no one has set anything on fire, yet.

They'll use this stay home vacation, rock n' roll good time as an excuse that the kids missed out on learning (a la covid) and will need more tax dollars (a la covid and ESSR funding) to catch up. They'll pass all the dumb kids so the cycle of non educating students continues. Don't fall for it, parents. If you think your kids will get behind, demand they take their butts to school. It doesn't matter much if they're not learning, except you'll have to find childcare.
