America has a lot of secrets: the nuclear launch codes, what’s going on at Area 51, Bigfoot, why the Denver International Airport seems so odd, whatever happened to D. B. Cooper, and exactly what evidence convinced several U.S. government agencies that the most likely cause of the Covid-19 pandemic was a lab leak.
And over at the Democratic National Committee, they’re locking up the biggest secret of all: why the Democrats lost the 2024 election.
In a move that should unleash harsh criticism and recriminations,

Charlie Kirk assassin suspect Tyler Robinson made jokes about how conservative figures will “catch a bullet one day,” and mocked attempted Trump assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks for failing to “shoot straight.” Robinson, who once bragged about being able to hit a 400-yard shot, began openly adopting left-wing stances after getting into a relationship with his transgender roommate, whom he was seen physically coddling while the trans cried over politics, friends and former colleagues told the Washington Post.
The newspaper spoke with 21 people who knew Robinson and examined hundreds of messages the assassin suspect exchanged online, as well as in a Discord server

It's now into the fifth day since the shooting at Brown University, where someone killed two students and injured nine. Meanwhile, the press conferences have projected incompetence from the authorities, which hasn't given the public a lot of confidence that they're going to find the killer.
On Wednesday, they announced they had a second person they wanted to speak to, who they characterized as having been in the vicinity of the primary person of interest for whom they are looking.
They already released one "person of interest" who they had briefly detained.

When Donald Trump took the oath of office in January, he inherited an economic mess courtesy of Joe Biden — soaring inflation, record-high gas prices, and a cost-of-living crisis that had American families scrambling to make ends meet. As we close in on a full year of Trump being back in office, there’s no doubt that things are turning around. Inflation has been slashed by more than half, gas prices are plummeting, real wages are climbing, and the everyday expenses that crushed household budgets under Biden are finally moving in the right direction. Even job creation is happening for native born Americans, not foreign workers.

Inflation dropped in November, ending a monthslong acceleration of price increases and offering relief for households strained by cost hikes, government data on Thursday showed. The reading came in below economists' expectations.
Consumer prices rose 2.7% in November compared to a year earlier, marking a notable reduction from 3% year-over-year inflation in September, the most recent month for which complete data is available. Inflation stands at its lowest level since July. The report offered the first look at price increases in nearly two months, after the 43-day government shutdown impaired data collection.
Despite an overall reduction of inflation, some high-profile items like coffee and beef continued to soar in November.

The Washington Post published a deep dive on Tyler Robinson's life and political views prior to the shooting of Charlie Kirk. What they found is that Robinson seemed to have a fairly bland a pox on both their houses view of the two political parties for quite a while. That changed when he started dating his roommate, who was very vocal about trans rights and his disgust at the re-election of President Trump.
But because this is the Post, the story is framed as a rebuttal to Trump and Republicans.
This examination draws on interviews with 21 people who knew Robinson, as well as hundreds

Non-discrimination policies are funny things; in trying to carve out special rights or privileges for one group, another group often finds itself being discriminated against. Such is the case in deep-blue Massachusetts, where, up until very recently, Christian couples who refused to sign a so-called "LGBTQIA+ Non-Discrimination Policy" were forbidden from serving as foster parents.
On Tuesday, all that changed when the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF), which oversees the state's foster program, announced it would no longer require couples to sign the policy after learning from its federal regulator that the requirement was unconstitutional.

On Wednesday evening, President Donald Trump spoke from the White House on the economy, energy, foreign affairs, and more, in an address to the nation just over a week before Christmas. As RedState wrote earlier this afternoon, the president and War Secretary Pete Hegseth, along with First Lady Melania Trump, attended a formal dignified transfer ceremony at Dover AFB in Delaware. Then just before leaving Dover, Pres. Trump gave a teaser on "the message" of Wednesday night's address. He also shared a reminder on the speech tonight as he returned to the White House. Earlier in the day, WH Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt hinted that the speech

My father died tonight, December 16, a month shy of his 96th birthday. Norman Podhoretz passed peacefully and without pain, with a new translation of The Odyssey on his desk that had been sent to him by his friend Roger Hertog. It sat next to a copy of Alexander Pope’s legendary translation, which he had asked my sister Naomi to order for him so he could compare the two.
At the very end of his life, Norman Podhoretz was his truest self, a man of letters.

A federal judge said that he will not temporarily halt the construction of President Trump’s White House ballroom following a lawsuit from the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
U.S. District Judge Richard Leon said on Tuesday that the organization did not adequately show that “great and certain” harm would come if Trump did not temporarily halt construction, noting that below-ground work will not begin until January and above-ground work is scheduled for April, per the Hill.
Leon did, however, put the Trump administration on “fair notice” that it should be prepared to remove below-ground changes if it were to alter the above-ground structure.

As of Tuesday, his disapproval rating sits at 51.7 percent, per DDHQ. In mid-November, Trump’s disapproval peaked at 55.5 percent.
