Trump is wise to tackle Obamacare but
real answers mean a massive overhaul

President Donald Trump is reportedly preparing to take on Obamacare; good for him — but any lasting solution to this ongoing disaster will require major surgery. In the decade since it really got going, the Affordable Care Act has only made health care more expensive, even as it hid the soaring costs from most consumers — who’ve still had to deal with ever-narrower freedom of choice. It seems the White House has realized what a monster it faces; after news outlets reported some of the ideas under consideration, Team Trump put off announcing anything as it apparently takes another look under the hood.
Brad Lander’s departure as NYC comptroller

Brad Lander won’t be New York City comptroller much longer — and that’s good news for Gotham’s rank and file. It’s not just because Lander is a knee-jerk leftist who rivals Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani when it comes to his out-of-touch patter on economic policy. He’s also a dullard seemingly unaware of the core function of the job he’s held for the last four years. Lander, as the city’s chief fiscal officer, is the fiduciary, investment adviser and custodian of the city’s $300 billion pension fund system. He’s supposed to make sure the funds are invested in securities that grow in value so they can “fully fund” the retirement accounts of all the city’s police,

President Donald Trump late Thursday said that the United States may “almost completely” eliminate the income tax due to the rising tariff revenue. n the next couple of years, I think we’ll substantially be cutting, or maybe cutting out completely, but we’ll be cutting income tax,” Trump said during an event on Thursday. “Could be almost completely cutting it because the money we’re taking in is going to be so large,” he added. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) in June projected that the tariff increases will reduce the federal deficit by $2.8 trillion over the next decade. Last week US Vice President J.D. Vance pointed out a home truth about the politicians who have run Canada and Britain this last decade or so. They’ve made some terrible calls, especially as regards mass inwards immigration. To start, Vance pointed to my native Canada and noted that it now has the highest foreign-born share of the population of the entire G7. And its living standards have flatlined. Take the start of 2016 as your baseline for GDP per person. Remember, then ignore, that at that time the US was already noticeably wealthier than any other Anglosphere country.

President Trump suggested Thursday the United States will “very soon” take action against alleged Venezuelan drug traffickers on land after weeks of repeated strikes in Caribbean waters. “In recent weeks, you’ve been working to deter Venezuelan drug traffickers, of which there are many,” Trump told military personnel in remarks on Thanksgiving. “Of course, there aren’t too many coming in by sea anymore.” You probably noticed that people aren’t wanting to be delivering by sea, and we’ll be starting to stop them by land also,” he continued.

The first Thanksgiving in the New World was celebrated in 1621, nearly a year after the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. In 1789, George Washington became the first of many US presidents to formally proclaim a day of “public thanksgiving and prayer”: I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him -

Every one of those plans hires a Pharmacy Benefit Manager, or PBM, to run drug benefits. The search for peace in Ukraine continued to be elusive. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s political career flamed out. Six Democratic politicians encouraged service members to engage in insurrection. I almost took the week off, but there are things that I feel are important to mention before we head into the weekend... and December. Venezuela Venezuela is dominating the news cycle, and rightfully so.
