Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Mamdani

I stopped counting the massive numbers of articles — both before and after the election of November 4, 2025 — that predicted the complete devolution/collapse/implosion of New York City, a huge exodus of both Jews and Christians, as well as businesses and the Wall Street financial district to friendlier climes in what was anticipated to be the full-fledged conversion of the Big Apple from capitalism to communism, from law and order to a runaway crime wave, and from historical diversity to full-bore antisemitism and the passionate embrace of Islamism and sharia law if Zohran Mamdani was elected mayor.

She's right. The Jews can sit back and take punches for a long time but eventually they decide that enough is enough. The muslims saw soft targets all over europe and they made their move with a lot of success. It's not going to last either there or here.

Here's yet another "I'm-not-leaving-'cause-it's-gonna-be-all-right" delusional piece headed for the trash bin of history under the "Famous Last Words" label. The only rational/worthwhile point this lady makes is that the Jews will survive this one, which non-Jewish people like me who know their Bible and Israeli history, know well; Jews are around to stay, they have divine protection, so keep your powder dry. The problem with Swirsky is that she pontificates from a safe spot near NYC, and most likely has NEVER lived a life under hard-core communist/socialist rule. I have. Rather than attempt to respond to all her imaginary predictions, I will just warn her that, even if Mamdani survives one or more tenures, the damage he will leave behind will take a long time to correct, if ever ~ just listen to the insanity that proceeds from the mouths of Mamdani voters, they are true brainwashed believers, never forced to live out their convictions. But I digress -- and assure you, that long before the disaster unravels, Swirsky would have taken her (+ family's) baggage to an oceanfront somewhere in Florida.

We hear that there is a lot of conflict on the other side. Some call it generational, or reminiscent of “Wild in the Streets”, or that movie about not trusting anyone over 30. Others say it’s ideological, or a desperate battle between center-left Democrats and the crazy left. I am not sure what to call it, but they sure are angry over there. Well, we saw the first battle over the shutdown, and now get ready for the next episode over free buses. The New York City mayor-elect promised free buses, and the governor of New York responded with “we can’t afford it.”
Confronting Anti-Ellis Island Immigration 4 replies

Between 1892 and 1954, approximately 12 million immigrants arrived at the now-iconic Ellis Island to enter the U.S.—or nearly 200,000 legal entries per year. All were registered, documented, and given rudimentary health exams. They arrived as rich and poor, white and non-white, and, without exception, legally. With the gradual decline of such great influxes, Ellis Island finally ceased operating roughly 71 years ago. Yet Ellis Island’s successful tenure offers a sharp contrast to the failures of our recent open-border catastrophes. Americans will never know how many immigrants swarmed the southern border between 2021 and 2025,

More than 150 illegal migrant sexual predators have been nabbed in Florida as part of a massive sweep dubbed “Operation Dirtbag,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem revealed on Wednesday. The sex offenders were among more than 230 illegals rounded up in the Sunshine State after being wanted for crimes including drug offenses and even murder. Others who were arrested had prior convictions for child molestation and sexual assault, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

US President Donald J. Trump announced the latest addition to his remarkable Abraham Accords last week: China's and Russia's neighbor, Kazakhstan. One hopes that at some point, Azerbaijan, too, might join the Abraham Accords. Although Azerbaijan has enjoyed close relations with Turkey, relations between Turkey and Israel have now reached an all-time low. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan – after accusing Israel of genocide and crimes against humanity, and issuing arrest warrants for 37 Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu -- reportedly took Trump's assurance of a Turkish role in the future of Gaza, without consulting Israel, as a green light to assemble 2,000 special forces troops to occupy Gaza.

Our long national nightmare is over, but the Democratic psychodrama isn’t. The longest shutdown in US history — with increasing pain points across the country, whether among travelers or SNAP recipients — is ending, while the Democratic recriminations are just getting started. “It’s complete BS,” was a relatively mild take on the deal from one congressional progressive. As a rule of thumb, government shutdowns are bootless exercises. They rarely work because the party that causes the shutdown, thinking that it will provide leverage, invariably gets blamed for the shutdown and then — surprise! — ends up in a worse position than where it began.

The current economic indicators, at least those attributable to the 10-month Trump administration, are strong. Fourth-quarter GDP is estimated to grow between 2.7 and 4 percent, the robust latter figure according to the Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank. Inflation from June to August ranged from 2.7 to 2.9 percent, significantly lower than the 5 percent annual average during Biden’s 2021-2025 term.Gas prices now average $2.98 per gallon, compared to $3.46, the average cost during Biden’s four years. In less than a year, Trump has increased oil production by one million barrels per day. Unemployment in the second quarter of 2025 stayed steady at 4.2 percent,

As we've reported, the campaign for Maine Democrat Senate candidate Graham Platner got off to a promising start before two things happened: The entrance of Gov. Janet Mills (D) into the race and the discovery of some Reddit posts that included Platner boasting about being a communist and bashing law enforcement officers as "b**tards."There was also an unhealthy dose of self-loathing towards rural white Americans and racially insensitive posts about how black people tip, as well as some sexual assault victim-shaming. Adding to all of that was the disturbing revelation that Platner sported a Nazi-themed tattoo on his chest, a tattoo he recently had covered with something else.

This statement [by senior Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya that the group will "accumulate capabilities to move towards the liberation of Palestine"] contradicts recent remarks by White House Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, who said that Hamas officials told him and Jared Kushner that the terror group will disarm. If Hamas had any real intention of laying down its weapons, its leaders would not be participating in a conference that has come out in public against disarming terror groups in the Middle East. If Hamas were serious about implementing the Trump plan, it would not be participating in a conference that rejects it.

A key Atlantic current could be pushed to the brink of collapse within decades, supposedly ushering in a new ice age and dramatically raising sea levels, climate scientists have claimed in a controversial new study published in the journal Communications Earth & Environment. The apocalyptic predictions came as a result of a collaboration between researchers at the Institute of Oceanology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOCAS) and the University of California, San Diego — weeks after one-time climate alarmist Bill Gates publicly downplayed the impact of temperature fluctuations on the planet.

What kind of US president demolishes a cherished piece of American history in order to build a shrine to himself? That’s what many Chicagoans are asking — and they aren’t talking about President Trump’s East Wing demolition to make way for a White House ballroom. Locals are still trying to make sense of the $850 million Obama Presidential Center, dubbed “The Obamalisk,” which broke ground in Chicago’s historic Jackson Park in 2021 and will be finished next Spring. “Obama, of all people, should not be building a palace for himself, a fortress in the middle of a public park. Kamala Harris is back once again with an extremely interesting new angle on her 2024 election failure. Her memoir "107 Days" was released a couple of months ago, and she is about to wrap up her book tour (one that Democrats aren't too wild about, by the way) with a final stop on November 20. Not too terribly long ago, Harris told Stephen Colbert she was stepping away from politics because the "system is broken" — only to tease a 2028 run at the end of October.

Federal agents in Chicago are facing a nightmare most of us can’t imagine: a violent street gang has literally issued a “shoot-on-sight” order against them. According to Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Latin Kings have targeted immigration enforcement officers working in the city, leading the agency to warn its teams to use “extreme caution.” Shots were fired. Agents’ vehicles were rammed. Bricks and paint cans were thrown at Border Patrol trucks in the Little Village neighborhood during ongoing immigration operations. This isn’t happening in some failed foreign state. It’s happening on American streets.

Climate change does its damage in a lot of ways—birthing hurricanes, heat waves, floods, droughts, and wildfires. Now add to that list earthquakes, continental rifting—or breakup—and magma production. That’s the conclusion of a new paper in Scientific Reports, which adds to a growing agreement among scientists that the Earth’s atmospheric processes can affect its geological processes in surprising ways. “Ultimately, plate tectonic forces play the dominant role in driving continental rifting,” says geologist James Muirhead, senior lecturer at the University of Auckland in New Zealand and lead author of the paper. “However, our study shows that climate plays a key role in modulating the rate

With their caucus still reeling from their base turning on them for caving on the government shutdown, they needed a distraction, and they believed these emails would deliver one. They were wrong. The so-called bombshell consisted of three email exchanges. The crown jewel of their selective leak was a 2011 email between Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell in which Epstein described Trump as "the dog that hasn't barked." He noted that a victim had spent hours with Trump at Epstein’s house.
