One of the huge bonuses to having racked up a significant number of years in life is that one gets an amazing perspective on things. For example, I've been through a number of dire apocalyptic warnings. When I was a kid, global cooling and a new ice age were going to bring down the curtain on Mother Earth within 40 years. Before the ice had a chance to show up, fears of overpopulation were being spread. Widespread famine was going to do us in.
We're all aware of what happened next. When creeping glaciers and hunger hadn't brought about the end of humanity, apocalypse fetishists shifted their focus to

Long range weather forecasts recently came out with predictions of a harsh winter. So, as a result, you have opportunists coming out, preparing to watch the fun and then try to gain attention by shouting "See!? SEE!? I TOLD YOU so!!!"
Nothing like pretending to discover gravity while someone is falling off a cliff.

The weather is going to do what it wants without reading all the "white papers" the scientists have published. I lived through all the above. The new ice age, the population explosion and all the rest of the nonsense. Do we need to be good stewards, of course. Do not pour turpentine in the creek behind your house etc. But the sun will come up and the sun will go down with no help from us. The newest is that climate change causes earthquakes. Really? So much stupid nonsense. We have always had "weather" and nothing is going to change that.

I am in my 60s, and the author of this piece makes points that really resonate with me. When I was a young child, we had some years with very brutally cold, long snowy winters apparently, it was claimed that we really were coming out of a “little Ice Age.”
In the mid 80s, we had some very mild winters with almost no snow. That’s right about when all of the global warming stuff started. Well, in recent years, we’ve been back to normal winters, and they’ve had to change global warming to climate change, and now they’re talking about a new ice age. What a joke. Climate is always changing, it is extremely unlikely that humans are having any effect on the earths climate, and we probably all need to just chill.

Just watch any local or national weather news shows and the slightest uptick or downturn in a temperature from "the average" and they are immediately screaming CLIMATE CHANGE.

How can a cold era raise sea levels if a warm era rises sea levels? Which is it guys? I guess they just want to tell us we are all going to die, which is the truth but not because of this Climate Change nonsense. But, again there is a lot of money to be made by these climate hucksters.

I had a book from the University of Missouri meteorology department describing this exact idea 25 years ago when I was an undergrad. So this nonsense isn't new, and it isn't credible either. It didn't happen then, and it won't happen now.

They claim that the fresh meltwater will 'sink to the ocean floor' to disrupt the Gulf Stream.
But...their basic physics is completely backwards. These morons must have flunked HS physics.
Sea water density is 64 lbs per cubic foot. Fresh water density is 62.4 lbs per cubic foot. So this LIGHTER fresh water SINKS TO THE BOTTOM of the heavier sea water.....in their theory.
BULL. The lighter fresh water stays on the top of the sea water until they eventually mix and are a uniform density.
Their theory is so much bunk that any HS physics student who can get a "B" grade (legitimately) would easily see the wrong thinking of it.

Or in other words, you were a 100% wrong in you prediction that the earth would become catastrophically hot due to a trace of CO2 in our atmosphere.

If anyone is buying what the Chinese are telling us about climate, I have a recently opened, collapsed bridge in China that I can sell you, real cheap. There are numerous example of Chinese products that are built cheaply and shoddily. Their science products are no better.
More than yet another abandoned theory and pivot to something that might be more profitable through government grants to "study" it, it disturbs me greatly that Leftists in science, as Leftists in the government and media, are willing to obliterate the reputation of and believability about their professions. Leftists in government and media are now in collapse because their lies, incompetence, and stupidity have caught up with them.
Like a repair shop owned by an incompetent mechanic, eventually your bad practices catch up with you. The Left's solution seems to be to shift a new face forward with the same story or to pivot to a new tall tale.
After a while, the belief in the whole system collapses. There is little faith in government or media now. Yet these organizations provide important, even essential services and we need to be able to have confidence in them. Having a bad scientific structure, from the ground up, with universities awarding degrees to incompetents and government paying money to the same fools who are willing to deliver "proof" of government planning for a paycheck, devastates the reliability of scientific endeavors as a whole. That is very bad.
It's hard for the average person to know who in government, media, science, ... is going a good job and should be listened to. The baby, good science, gets thrown out with the bathwater, the corrupt scientific organizations dedicated to making money instead of seeking truth.

Im by no means an expert on climate, but I will say this. Its a cycle. Our climate cycle is tens if not hundreds of thousands of years long. Our climate cycles are affected by solar CYCLES, Orbital CYCLES, oceanic currents and their CYCLES, atmospherics, probably also affected by volcanic CYCLES, human activity and continental drift.
Earth has spend most of its history as a snowball, and yes, there will be another ice age. When? Who knows.

Well! That just shot the climate experts consensus all to he!!. Now the experts will be going back to add more fudge, finagle, and diddle factors to their math models. I hope all those 50,000 climate bureaucrats are enjoying the COP-30 party down in Brazil. I hear that Brazil is lovely this time of year.

In my 60+ years, I have managed to survive global cooling, overpopulation, mass starvation, acid rain, ozone holes, rising oceans, mass bee dying, polar bear and other animals mass extinction, and global warming. Now, I'm pretty sure we will all survive the latest doom and gloom, death and destruction predictions by scientists just looking for funding to keep themselves employed.

#21 and every second our solar system is in a new part of the universe. who knows what is out there. Suddenly we are discivering interstellar visitors like 3iAtlas. A soler flare could knock out our technology and we would be back to a medievel life or the stone age and billions would perish. Or we may intercept a gamma ray burst which would mercifully end all life instantly.
Ecclesiastes. There is nothing new...

First of all, the only thing CO2 is reputed to do is warm the atmosphere. We reached the saturation point on that long ago but it's what the warmists believe. The point is, if it is going to get colder, if we're going to have an Ice Age, we can stop flogging people and activities that produce CO2, RIGHT?
I recommend that you look up Watts Up With That website and search for 'A Review of Temperature Reconstructions' for starters. Yes, an ice age is coming. The reconstruction histories tell us that we are 12,000 years into an interglacial and those last between 10,000 and 15,000 years (and it's a natural cycle, not human made). This time around, we have the tech to survive and survive in style using, of course, coal, oil and nuclear (and not windmills or solar panels). Not 'existential' but a change and ... really, like anything else,... an opportunity. So, again, if history is any guide, sometime in the next 3,000 years. Beachfront property will be farther out from shore, again, if history is any guide.

The gulf stream does 'collapse' every several hundred years. In the 12th and 13th centuries, it was a 'warming period.' for a couple hundred years (did wonders for food production, by the way) followed by a 'little ice age' for several hundred years.

Don’t you know it’s a a progressive Democrat hoax. They and the media will all blame it on President Trump and claim only the Democrats can save from this existential threat by spending several trillions of dollars on experiments to prepare white papers to be presented at lavish conferences on how rich nations should double taxation to be given to poor nation dictators so the can stay warm.
