The map shows the contorted Congressional District in Louisiana that is at issue in the Supreme Court case that was argued yesterday.
You won’t see this map in most of the news reports on the case – not because it’s not newsworthy, but because it is. This picture speaks a thousand words about the absurdity at issue.
All parties to the case – and the Supreme Court Justices, as well – agree that this strange amalgamation was created for the express purpose of establishing a district that is supposedly Black* so that Blacks could be assured of electing Black representatives.

How about we draw the districts using established boundries, like counties and/or townships, and put an end to all this foolishness?

It is far past time to stop treating Black people like helpless babies or, as SC Justice KJB stated: disabled people. They are capable of running for office in any Congressional District and nothing is stopping them from voting. The Voting Rights Act guaranteed equal voting rights, not special voting rights.

What a crazy map.
Do they think the people in Shreveport and Lafayette have the same interest and concerns?
Are they actually obtaining similar help and assistance?
What about the 2020 census where they used differential privacy where they didn't use actual enumeration but a secret algorithm that added and subtracted a certain (secret) percentage from what's considered the typical block (105 people) used for apportioning districts. Thus, a block could be 95 or possibly 115 without anyone actually knowing what it is/was.
It was not until 2021 when the Census Bureau revealed it used an epsilon of 19.61.
Even with this acknowledgement they designed the system to prevent outsiders from verifying that was the actual number used.
Not even Congress could audit the process used. Cities, Counties and States weren't able to know either.
We can't verify that the current House districts across the entire United States are accurate and true.
Any wonder some House Democrat districts turned very late, usually after election day when counting continued for 10-14 days afterwards?
They likely had a higher number of people in the District that only a few seemed be aware of.

The map of the district in Louisiana looks exactly like the Sheila Jackson Lee district in Houston, Texas. I suspect the Al Green district has similarities.

My money says this has less to do with color than it does political party. If blacks were a reliable Republican vote this district in this configuration wouldn't exist.

Common sense will tell you that African-Americans who are US citizens should have the same right to vote like any other US citizens and should not be treated as “special” having their own voting districts in this day and age.

What happens if too many Blacks move to mostly White neighborhoods? We can't have that! How do you racially gerrymander districts if Blacks don't stay in Black neighborhoods?
Amazing how Democrats keep going back to their segregationist roots.

Nothing unusual about that district.
That is the Interstate 49 district with a little trickle over to Baton Rouge on I-10 to add a few more voters.
Those folks got lots in common. Geaux Tigers!

This is Louisiana, but every Democrat State has a place done the same way.

I live in the Baton Rouge part of this liberal concoction.
I see no point in voting at all, since they have rigged it to elect only black candidates.
In my opinion, they need to draw rectangles across the state with equal amounts of population in each rectangle. Let the chips fall where they live.

If we have separate Congressional Districts then why not separate schools and drinking fountains?? Very good question.

#8, Sam reason who don't have a good idea about how many Black fought in the Revolution -- only a handful of segregated units.
