Florida state officials announced on Thursday that they are monitoring how teachers are reacting to the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Educators could face consequences if they are caught celebrating or justifying Kirk’s death.
In a memo sent to school district superintendents, Florida’s commissioner of education Anastasios Kamoutsas wrote, “It has been brought to my attention that some Florida educators have posted despicable comments on social media regarding the horrific assassination of Charlie Kirk.”
“These few are not a reflection of the great, high-quality teachers who make up the vast majority of Florida’s educators,” Kamoutsas continued.

They’re the hordes of Mordor. That’s all that can be said about these people, many of whom teach your children, manage your health care, and maintain law and order. The list goes on—we have doctors, veterinarians, wealth managers, and nurses cheering the death of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, who was assassinated at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. And yes, some members of the media are in this ungodly horde of cretins.
The legions of unhinged progressives that infest the professional classes are startling, but also representative of the changes within the Democratic Party base, which has become whiter, wealthier, snobbier, and more insane.

A Secret Service Agent, in a Facebook post, said Charlie Kirk deserved to be assassinated.
TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk, 31, was brutally murdered in broad daylight on Wednesday during an event at Utah Valley University. A gunman climbed up onto a roof and shot Charlie Kirk from an elevated position.
Secret Service Agent Anthony Pough said Charlie Kirk, a Christian husband and father to two young children, deserved to be murdered in cold blood.
“If you are Mourning this guy… delete me. He spewed hate and racism on his show,” Anthony Pough wrote.

As we await the FBI briefing on the Charlie Kirk assassination, authorities revealed new pictures Thursday night of the suspect as well as a video taken from a neighborhood surveillance camera.
Chilling new photos of a 'person of interest' wanted in connection with Charlie Kirk's assassination have been released as the manhunt for the suspect continued.
The Utah Department of Public Safety released the new surveillance pictures Thursday night showing the unidentified suspect wearing a dark, long sleeved shirt with an American flag on the chest, a gray baseball cap and sunglasses.
He also carried a black backpack as he went up and down the stairs.

Rep. Ilhan Omar added another mark to her record as one of the most hateful, depraved members of Congress on Thursday. While speaking to pro-Hamas journalist Mehdi Hasan, the Minnesota congresswoman mocked Charlie Kirk and appeared to offer justification for his assassination.
Kirk was murdered while speaking on the campus of Utah Valley State on Wednesday, (Snip) Further exposing her lack of common decency and humanity, Omar cast that aside and instead joined with Hasan to essentially argue that Kirk deserved what he got because of his "words and actions."

It's about time!
On Thursday, Senate Republicans triggered the "nuclear option" that was holding back many of President Donald Trump's nominations. Now things can get moving.
Republicans triggered the "nuclear option" to change the rules of the Senate on a party-line basis Thursday, a move that will allow them to speed up confirmation of President Donald Trump's nominees for key executive branch positions.
The vote was 53-45 to establish a new rule that allows the Senate to confirm an unlimited number of nominees en bloc, rather than process each one individually.
The rule applies to executive branch nominees subject to two hours of Senate debate, including subcabinet picks and ambassadors.

Vice President JD Vance was among the countless politicians to offer prayers in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, but hours later, likely after processing Wednesday’s horrific events, the VP shared more personal details of his relationship with the late conservative firebrand and how influential he was in shaping the Trump administration today.
Vance begins by describing how the two met and explaining how instrumental he was in his political rise.
"A while ago, probably in 2017, I appeared on Tucker Carlson's Fox show to talk about God knows what. Afterwards a name I barely knew sent me a DM on twitter and told me I did a great job.

This may be the hardest column I’ve ever written, one where I’m so angry that it’s hard for me to put my words into a sequence that’s both coherent and not profane. They murdered Charlie Kirk today. They shot him dead because he dared to exercise his right as a human being to speak freely – contrary to what Democrat senators insist, our rights do not come from government but are endowed within us by our Creator. So, this was not merely a crime against one man, or against his beautiful family, but against both this country and our God.
And it will be righteously avenged.

Earlier, we told you about the beautifully moving tribute Vice President JD Vance posted on X in memory of his friend, Charlie Kirk. Vance credited Kirk with helping his political career take off, as well as with winning the 2024 election, calling Kirk his friend and "a good man."
Kirk was assassinated at the first stop on "The American Comeback Tour" in Orem, Utah.
Vice President Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance flew to Utah to meet with Charlie Kirk's family today. We also learned the Vances will escort Charlie Kirk's casket back to Phoenix, Arizona on Air Force Two.

We don't need to wait to find out "what motivated" the sniper who assassinated Charlie Kirk in Utah on Wednesday, as Barack Obama claimed within hours of the Turning Point USA founder's murder. We already know what the motive was. We know Charlie was shot to death by a nihilistic sniper from the rooftop of a Utah Valley University campus building because he was an effective messenger for turning hearts and minds away from the left and toward home, family, God, and life. Away from chaos and toward order. Away from evil and toward the good. [Tweet] And he was good at it. There's your motive.

“This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.”
—Winston Churchill, Nov. 10, 1942
You feel it, don’t you? That ugly, unsettling sense that everything’s different now. It’s no longer the same country.
This is the story of Charlie Kirk, the United States of America, and what the hell happens next. Today, on the 24th anniversary of 9/11, we stand before two paths.
And, as Americans, the choice is entirely ours.
The first path leads somewhere darker and bloodier, replete with reprisals, escalations, vengeance, and fury. Those on the right who crave retribution will pursue it;

Charlie Kirk is dead. The world is a much poorer place without him, but the conservative movement he founded will go on, stronger than ever.
I am not blaming anyone for his assassination because we don't know who shot him or why. Duh. The obvious answer is a left-winger, but I'll hold off on what's "obvious" until the facts are in. This caution is born out of 20 years of being wrong in these situations often enough that I got sick of being embarrassed about it.
I was always half-amused at the jumping to conclusions by both sides when a high-profile death occurs in a political context.
