Fired MSNBC political analyst Matthew Dowd said on Friday that he was “naive” to state on national television that Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk brought his assassination on himself.
MSNBC fired Dowd on Wednesday evening after he said that Kirk’s so-called “hate speech” led to his assassination, which sparked intense backlash among conservatives and mourners. The political analyst wrote in a Substack post that he did not expect people to be outraged by him bringing up that Kirk is a “divisive and polarizing figure.”

Only an evil person would make a negative comment about anyone who was just assassinated, especially a comment that is so wrong, misinformed and full of projection.

Connecting Charlie Kirk to 'hateful words' shows extreme ignorance of Kirk's views, or a bizarre, warped, lunatic definition of "hateful words".
Probably ANY words that say things like "trans people are mentally ill" would be hate speech to these crazies, when in the purest scientific fact it is absolutely factual, and not even slightly hateful.
Warped, obnoxious, inflexible leftists who just live on pure hate for anyone who disagrees with their political views.....and turns things upside down, calling political disagreement "hateful words". No, they
are just POLITICAL DISAGREEMENT>

He said it because it is what he thinks. He said it because he believed that is what MSNBC thinks and espouses. So to him there was no problem. If Charlie was basing a lot of his beliefs on Christian teachings then every Christian is fair and open game.

I'd wager that he never once watched one of Charlie's speeches or podcasts. He drank the leftist Kool-Aid and accepted SPLC propaganda that Charlie Kirk was "hateful" without once questioning its veracity. Then, he mouthed off and tried to justify the assassination of a young man in front of his wife, two children, and parents. Now he's upset that he's been held accountable and has lost his overpaid gig with MSNBC. Well, here's a truth pill: free speech does not mean speech without consequences.

What a career Matthew Dowd had:
A Democrat, then a Republican and chief strategist for Bush/Cheney's re-election, then an Independent, then back to Democrat and commentary on MSNBC.
Twice divorced and his current partner is Maria Shriver
Doesn't have a history of firm beliefs or good judgment

No, you are evil. You are one that could easily man the concentration camps and death camps based on your 'opinion' that those that don't agree with you are not worthy of life. And no, this is not 1930 Nazi Germany. And the main reason is that the population is armed. Not unarmed sheep. When a group of people are threatened, and feel unsafe, they defend themselves. When that group feels that their lives and existence are at risk, they do what it takes to stay alive. On occasions, it manifest as revolution. And we don't want that. Mathew should crawl into a podcast that his hard core leftist will follow and fade into oblivion of history. He has proven that he has absolutely no role in civil society. But he seems eager for a revolution. Sad mean, hateful soulless creature.

Even with time to compose a thoughtful reply he chose to say he was naive, to state it on national television. Not WRONG to think it or WRONG to say it....just naive not to anticipate the negative response!

The leftists are now spouting the "hate speech" excuse for the murder of a great, kind young man. I never saw Charlie debate someone without using polite, gentlemanly language. Hate speech? I doubt that most who spout this never saw more than a few of Charlie's debates if any. If you want hate speech look at all the media types, professors, ugly purple-haired women celebrating Charlie's death and implying that he "had it coming". The real hate is theirs for anyone who simply disagrees with them.

The left has succeeded in raising generations of Americans who live outside of history. Otherwise, they could never persuade so many people into believing that someone like Charlie Kirk is divisive and extreme. Charlie Kirk spouse, traditional, American values, very similar to those held by John F. Kennedy, a Democrat. The liberals are the ones pushing radical agenda, and who are intentionally dividing America.

When I read this mealy-mouth explanation of why he thinks he was misunderstood, it reminds me of James Comey. No one believes anything that either of them has to say. Just because Dowd hears extreme woke-ism on MSNBC all the time doesn't make it true and doesn't justify what he had to say. He obviously knew nothing about Charlie Kirk except the lies told on leftist media.

FTA —- “He then doubled down on his remark that the shot was perhaps someone firing a gun in celebration because Kirk was a “diehard advocate of the 2nd Amendment.”
More specifically, Dowd suggested that a follower of Charlie Kirk fired a shot in celebration. So let me get this straight, Dowd thinks a follower risked a criminal charge by firing a gun in public? Dowd is a condescending leftist who has contempt for conservatives and individual liberties.

‘hateful thoughts lead to hateful words which ultimately lead to hateful actions’. I thought to myself how could anyone disagree with this. I guess I was naive.”
Noooo...you should have been saying that into a mirror...your own hateful thoughts about people to the right of you being "Existential threats, fascists and Nazi's", let to YOU saying that to others...and those others took actions, of hate towards those YOU dishonestly besmirched.
"“He then doubled down on his remark that the shot was perhaps someone firing a gun in celebration "...Name ONE instance where ANYONE at ANY right wing event(not held at a shooting range) fired a single shot of ANY kind, for any reason....you act as if it is somehow as common as cowboys shooting up saloons in western movies(which seldom happened in actual history either)...The ONLY shots fired at Right Wing Events have been fired by Lefties, shooting at those on the Right, and there have been many of those, not just at politicians either, also at people walking on the streets near those events, there have been numerous stabbings and beatings as well...but NONE by the right wingers, only targeting right wingers. The ONLY violence involving right wing folks has been via the "Proud Boys" who formed and showed up to FIGHT BACK against the mobs that had been viciously attacking elderly and female raly participants on a regular basis...and they NEVER threw the "First Punch"

So sick of liberals labeling anything that questions perversion, crime, lies, and rat propaganda, as hate. Reinforcing their puppet media lies about trans special treatment, illegal aliens having citizen rights, and the trillions of dollars they robbed from working Americans and their children and grandchildren. It is not hate to call that evil out and resist all of it, it is the moral high ground and common sense. You are slime, and like so many liberals, willfully ignorant.

No, Matthew Dowd, it is not you being naive. It is during the Obama-Biden administration and the Biden-Harris administrations that the mainstream media was given power and authority. You just thought you were in a comfortable environment where you could give your opinion. You forgot that you are in an institution where facts should be stated.
Most of the media shut out the murder of Iryna Zarutska which emphasizes my point how comfortable the mainstream media became with their power and authority.
Matthew Dowd naive? No. Matthew Dowd arrogant? Yes.
