Why Arizona's Sen. Ruben Gallego is 2028
presidential longshot as he heads to Iowa

As Sen. Ruben Gallego heads to Iowa this weekend openly musing about a possible presidential run, he does so from near the back of the potential Democratic pack. He ranks among the worst-funded and rarest names mentioned in the mix for the White House. But going to Iowa, a state with a history of outsized importance in picking presidential nominees, can raise Gallego’s national profile and kindle interest in a place where it might matter if he does run. Later this month, the freshman senator from Arizona is planning a swing through New Hampshire, historically home to the nation’s first

Every Dem with a heartbeat thinks they are presidential material.

Ruben has what we call "Delusions of Competence". But maybe if he converts to islam and 'transitions to female' he might gain some popular momentum.

Longshot indeed. The fry cook at our local McDonalds has an equal likelihood of becoming president, but at least she is good at what she does.

Gallego includes his Marine Corps service in his resumé. He was in for 4 years, spent a year in Iraq. He was a lance corporal (equivalent to a Pfc in the Army) and never advanced to Corporal, which in the Marines is an Nco - a rank requiring leadership ability.

Considering the two incompetent doofuses that ran on their 2024 ticket and the cognitively impared President they foisted on us in 2020, well, the bar is set pretty low for 2028.

Gallego is an obscure politician locally, so there has to be something else going on that we haven't figured out yet. The Iowa State Fair trip is much more likely to be about 2026 than 2028. Gallego is Harvard-educated but was one of the few liberals who connected well with the working class in the last election. The Democrats may have just unintentionally revealed their strategy for winning back Congress---perhaps by using Gallego's trip as a test to see how steadfast the Trump working-class voters are and how accommodating they may be to potential future Hispanic candidates (NOT Gallego). As usual, the Dems don't do ANYTHING spontaneously. .

NEW YORK — Affordability was at the center of Zohran Mamdani’s winning primary campaign for New York City mayor. President Donald Trump has become the focus of his general election bid. The Democratic nominee launched a five-borough tour “against Trump” on Monday to amplify how he believes the president will harm New York City — and why Mamdani thinks he should be elected to lead the vanguard. He’s also tying opponents Andrew Cuomo, Eric Adams and Curtis Sliwa closely to Trump, adopting a classic Democratic general election playbook by casting two fellow Democrats and the GOP nominee as the president’s

Seattle is on track to elect one of the farthest left candidates in its history as the city suffers severe homelessness, violent crime waves and budget crises. Katie Wilson, 43, a former union leader who has pledged to 'Trump-proof' the Democrat-led city in Washington state, holds a narrow lead in her primary showdown with incumbent mayor Bruce Harrell. (Snip) She has also vowed to establish an 'Asylum Seeker Rapid Rehousing voucher program' that would provide migrants with two years of free housing subsidies, and instate a number of climate change policies. It’s the heart of summer, and the days are long and toasty. Beaches on the coasts (or Lake Michigan, closer to where I live) are packed and clothing is minimal. Some people look good showing extra skin. Most of them don’t. (Snip) If you’re fit and enjoy working out (or even sport a tan), chances are there’s a progressive who will eye you with suspicion of being MAGA. It's an extreme example of the “if-Trump-is-for-it, we-must-be-adamantly-against-it” mentality that has infected the left. It’s a steel. Progressive Sen. Warren, who appeared alongside Mamdani at the DC37 union building to support his universal childcare proposal, said he kick-started that conversation in the right place – and has Wall Street fat cats and billionaires running scared. “For me, New York City is the place to start the conversation for Democrats on how affordability is the central issue, the central reason to be a Democrat, and that

CANBERRA - Several towns in eastern Australia were blanketed with their thickest layer of snow in decades as wild weather swept the area this weekend, causing floods, stranding vehicles and cutting power to thousands of homes, authorities said. A cold air front dropped as much as 40 cm (16 inches) of snow on parts of northern New South Wales on Saturday, the most since the mid-1980s, said Miriam Bradbury, a meteorologist at Australia's weather bureau. Snow also settled in areas of the neighbouring state of Queensland for the first time in 10 years, she said. Bradbury said climate change has made

The US military is preparing to activate hundreds of National Guard troops to Washington, DC as a part of President Trump’s sweeping federal crackdown on crime in the nation’s capital, according to authorities. Trump has yet to make a final decision about the activation of federal troops, but the National Guard is currently readying to deploy them, two US officials with knowledge of the operation confirmed to Reuters. The preparation comes as 120 FBI agents from across the country have already begun patrolling DC streets overnight and backing up area cops at carjacking hot spots, despite many lacking local patrol work training, The Washington Post reported.

Leftist protesters formed a “human chain” to lament deported illegal aliens and social media can’t stop talking about it. By moving the portrait, Trump delivers a quiet but clear verdict on one of the most corrupt

Instead, they attribute their ills to malevolent forces threatening “our democracy” and see themselves as its saviors. How will they rescue the republic? Former Clinton advisor James Carville laid out a blueprint last Wednesday.
