A pair of Texas friends died less than three months apart after ingesting pills laced with a dangerous new synthetic opioid, and now their mothers are begging US officials to sound the alarm on the little-known drug that’s up to 43 times more lethal than fentanyl.
The young men both died this year after swallowing different pills secretly tainted with the deadly, often Narcan-resistant opioids known as nitazenes, which have begun seeping into the US at an alarming rate.
Lucci Reyes-McCallister, 22, died January 26 near Houston, Texas, after taking a pill labeled as Xanax that was actually laced with N-pyrrolidino protonitazene, an emerging form of nitazene.

Who creates products designed to kill their users? The product developer has no incentive to kill their customer base. Fewer people spending money on their product!

Being an older person who does not drink alcohol or use illegal drugs I do not understand how people pop a pill that they have bought on a street corner, from someone in a bar, or on the internet from a random stranger. And like #1 why would you lace your product with a poison designed to kill the user? I watched as alcohol destroyed my grandparents, aunt, father and brother. I assume alcoholism galloped through my family and would never touch any alcohol in any form. The use of drugs is no different. I just don't get it. I am sorry this happened and continues to happen. I know the hearts of their parents are broken. I am hoping something can be done. Maybe it is time to dig up those "this is your brain on drugs" commercials.

FTA: “Nitazenes are produced in clandestine Chinese labs and may have made their way to the cartels in Mexico using “their existing relationships” with “suppliers” in China, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration.”
Clandestine, my foot! Chinese drug labs exist with the knowledge and approval of the chicom party.

Does it kill people who don't take it?
That would really scare me if it does. Otherwise - - I really have nothing to worry about. Only people who voluntarily ingest things which they receive from disreputable strangers have a problem.

Reaper Drones on their various sites. If Mexico complains, ask them what they plan to do about it. Half their law enforcement is on the take and the other half is too scared to go against the murderous thugs in the cartels. Death is all they know about and let’s give it to them. Enough is enough.

Some, if not all, these deadly nitazenes are coming from (drum roll) China. Our good friends. Trump might be able to do something about this, make Chairman Xi an offer he can't refuse. This sounds like some horrible stuff. Buying pills from street dealers is like playing Russian roulette. Bottom level stupid. Only fools do that. The apothecary (you legal neighborhood pharmacy) is the only truly safe source of any kind of prescription medicine.

I'm still having trouble with this. Fentanyl is supposedly the most deadly drug ever invented. The numbers keep rising, but the amount you could put in a thimble they say will kill all of North America. Yet, it can still be bought in a pharmacy with a doctor's note.
Now there is this. 43 times more deadly than fentanyl. The amount left on the counter after sitting one down would wipe out the whole world. I'm really calling probable BS. Someone has a vested interest in keeping us all in a panic state. It worked for a while with second hand smoke, till people realized it was BS. Then the world was going to end with global warming, until it wasn't. I refuse to get all worked up over more pop culture silliness.

The older I get, the more I wonder why we put Narcan in public spaces. We should be discouraging drug abuse, not putting a safety net under it where abusers believe they can rely on people to use narcan to revive them from the consequences of their bad decisions.

And we can be certain that this BIOWEAPON was developed and made by China as part of their ongoing bioware against ys.
And we don't even acknowledge that they are in an active bioware against us.

This is OT, but I am confused. I hear that a grain of Fentanyl will kill ____ people. Cops get sick from sniffing it at an arrest. Yet people take it probably many times a day. How does this happen? Is this new one any more dangerous than the medicine used on large animals that people are using that is eating their bodies up from the inside out? Agree, why are they putting Narcan on street corners to take care of OD's?

Re #12, the problem is that a person who has never taken opiod drugs can be killed by X amount of a particular drug. Say fentanyl....XX milligrams is a fatal dose to you or me. But a long term abuser, like George Floyd can take many times the "fatal dosage" without dying because their body becomes accustomed to the drug, and they take more and more.
This is why a cop touching a package can get ill from fentanyl traces absorbed through the skin, so that all police are trained now to never search a vehicle or person without gloves. Touching a package can be a serious problem, potentially even fatal. But drug addicts can take huge doses and survive.
China is in an active biowar against us and we do NOTHING to their factories. We need to send in spies and blow up these factories, or drop cruise missiles on them. This is a HOT WAR. Perhaps we need to poison their water supplies in retaliation. SOMETHING.....rather than the talk that is all we do now.

Poster #2, Your story is almost identical to my upbringing. Father, his parents, his brother, two nephews, his aunt and two of my brothers. I have had alcohol, but I've never been drunk or had a hangover. Never have taken an illegal drug. I tell people I come from a long line of dedicated, professional drunks, we weren't rich enough to be alcoholics. And like the rest of us here simply cannot understand why anyone of normal intelligence would take a pill that they know might kill them.

Is China the narcan producer too? Sounds like a familiar marketing structure; release a virus & produce the "cure".

Jim, a friend of a friend and zoo veterinarian who sometimes has to deal with really huge animals such as elephants and rhinocerouses, injected them with carfentanyl (by dart, I think), which is many times more potent than fentanyl. In the package with the powerful anesthetic is a human antidote in case the veterinarian accidentally comes into contact with the product. If needed, it must be administered immediately. Chemists can make opioids pretty much as strong as they want. In 1960, Scottish chemists who discovered Etorphine (one thousand to three thousand times stronger than morphine) stirred their coffee with a glass rod that had touched the powerful drug, and several of them went intro comas (from which they recovered). On at least two live police shows, I have seen officers who touch or breathe in fentanyl OD on it, and have to be resuscitated with Narcan.
The only people who ought to handle these drugs are anesthesiologists and veterinarians. (In three spinal fusion operations in 2018 and 2020, I asked the anesthesiologist what he was going to use to put me under. All three times, it was fentanyl, which, administered by a competent doctor, is as safe as anything used for general anesthesia.)

It's so stupid to take any pills unless they came across the counter at a pharmacy, unless you want to die. I'm beginning to think that Darwin's Law is the only answer to our drug problem.

I have had fentanyl twice for surgery. It's a good drug used properly by an anesthesiologist. Less drug hangover or nausea, at least in my case. More and more, I think China's leaders are evil and trying to emasculate and destroy the US as we know it. I also think Covid, first produced in Wuhan, China, was a biological weapon that inadvertently escaped their lab. Now they are trying to flood the country with lethal drugs and an inundation of cheap products, hurting our producers and businesses and infiltrating our universities, corporations and buying our politicians like Biden. They are playing the long game. This country had better wake up and DJT needs the best security on the planet. He is a threat to their plan.
