French Prime Minister François Bayrou is criticizing the trade deal struck by President Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen as an act of “submission” by the European Union (EU).
“It is a dark day when an alliance of free peoples, united to affirm their values and defend their interests, resolves to submission,” Bayrou said in a post on social platform X early Monday. The agreement sets tariffs at 15 percent for European imports, including automobiles. That’s lower than the 30 percent tariff Trump had threatened to impose on the EU but higher than some European officials would have liked to see —

The last time America paid attention to what France had to say, we got involved in their disastrous entanglement in Viet Nam. Screw you, Frenchie.

Oh no! The French don't like it that Trump is protecting US interests! What ever will we do?
Thanks so much to that patriotic media outlet known as "The Hill" for its undying allegiance to everything American!

Unbalanced? What about the past decades of high tariffs on US made goos by France but only single digit tariffs on French goods by the US? Talk about unbalanced! The French whiners are worried about paying for their generous social programs. They are used to unquestioned US support. Those days are done. Time for France and the EU to become self supporting and stop being so self righteous.

France imagines itself as the leader of the EU. They also think they are a major power on the world stage. OK,that is a nice dream for them, but in the meantime while we wait for proof that their First Lady isn't a man, let's go with 30% tariff just for France. Cause they are such a major player and stuff.

As part of the trade deal - - the USA has agreed to buy all French army rifles.
You know - - the ones which were never fired - - and dropped once.

The EU Deal isn't really giving the US anything besides equal access to their markets as well as equal tarriffs. It's how it should have always been and our country should never have accepted anything different. That said, interesting that The Hill had to go all the way to France to find criticism for it. It's never been harder to ampliphy Democrat talking points...

Funny thing about this to me is that France pushed the entire continent of Europe to *create* the EU, and now they decry a trade deal that's not optimum for them and that they will have to live with. Well, boo freaking hoo. BTW, most readers here may not know this, but accession to the EU early on required a nation-wide plebiscite, and the French electorate voted NO. However, their elite betters decided, on behalf of the country, to ignore the electorate and inform the EU that they had voted YES. So maybe we can now get a a FREXIT and see the EU pee yew go away. Citizens of European countries don't need a federal yoke on them emanating from Brussels.
