Stephen Colbert wants you to believe he's some kind of martyred truth-teller, canceled by the evil corporate overlords for daring to speak truth to power about Donald Trump.
He’s not.
It's a compelling narrative, if you're the type who still thinks late-night comedy hosts are brave crusaders rather than overpaid establishment mouthpieces. But, rather than accept reality, he’s leaning into the preferred narrative that he’s being silenced and that it’s President Trump’s fault.

The higher ups just might yank him off the air
before next May. This just shows you what an ugly,, hatefilled and entitled jerk he really is. Has anyone explained to him the show is losing millions of dollars? He wouldn’t believe and he doesn’t care. Stevie had a temper tantrum.

It was dumb to give this cretin a 10-month advance warning. If CBS had any sense they would hang a 'Close for Business' sign on the studio door and replace the show with re-runs of Gilligan's Island. Ratings would probably be higher.

Just stop paying attention to this evil twerp. Compared to CBS, Colbert has no skin left in the game. Bye, Felicia.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Colbert thinks he was fired because he constantly carped about POTUS. The fact that he was making $15 million a year, had a staff of 200 (for what?), and the show was losing $40 million per year apparently never occurred to him. He should have been canned a couple of years ago.

He's throwing a fit, standard for those on the left. Another jerk that believed his own hype. And flew to close to the sun.

His show sucks and so do the ratings. I guess since his program is all about blaming Trump and making fun of Trump, it is Trump'a fault. Insulting over half of America, the potential audience, isn't a good business practice in the US.

"it’s subsidized vanity"
Isn't this the tagline for ALL liberal media?
Colbert "got the axe because he stopped being worth the cost". The media's inflated salaries have reinforced their massive egos. AND his show stopped making sufficient earnings because Colbert is obnoxious and his TDS makes him an unfunny harpy.
The amusing thing is, shows fail all the time. Almost all of them have a limited shelf life, some VERY short. Colbert had a 10 year run. That's pretty good. He poisoned the pond he lived in and now he moans that everything died.
If the cancellation IS about Trump, it is because Colbert chose to make it that way. He completely owns the result. Meanwhile, Trump has DONE nothing to Colbert beyond dismissing him. Since Colbert's stock in trade is being dismissive of people, he has a VERY thin skin, not surprising for a liberal who likes to dish it out but can't take it and whines and swears when he gets it.

Here's an idea....Steve and Keith O. can team up and and create a podcast. "Whinefest with Steve and Keith." I imagine M0 and Craig could give them a lot of guidance along the way. They could guest on each other's podcasts. Seriously, it would be the ideal way to fade into oblivion. The world would be grateful.

Coal-berttt......is an arrogant ass, with his faux French pronunciation of his name when the rest of his family says --BERT, not :"bear"
And he's an angry leftist propagandist who feels entitled to have a platform, and gets all hysterical like a three year old when he loses.
LOSER.....losing on TV.

Over nine more months more of the punk acting out, then he can be a regular on Kimmel or The Daily Show. FWIW Colbert has always looked suicidal to me, there's something not right going on there.

Colbert decided to demonstrate further why his show is being cancelled as he stumbles and fumbles his so called comedy opening.

Stephen Colbert can think and say whatever he likes. He's an American, and that's his right. But it was once considered highly inappropriate to curse the President of the United States in public. Civilized people just didn't do it.
It takes nothing but the cheapest and easiest kind of courage is to swear at a President--any President. They are constrained from harming you by our Constitution and our laws. Would Colbert have this kind of courage if it he was cursing Putin in Russia? Of course not.

Always thought he was an untalented little pr*ck. Never watched. Hopefully CBS will just kick him to the curb and the local stations can go back to running classic movies in the wee hours of the morning. Seriously, this guy is a dope. Speaking of dope maybe he and Hunter can do a podcast together. They both speak the same foul language and believe they are the most important mouthpieces for the dems. Feel sorry for those who do not know who Johnny Carson was. Now that was a talent to enjoy. Just go away, go visit Rosie. She might have an extra room for you to rent.

I'm proud to say that I have never watched one Colbert show. Just looking at the various clips shown on other TV shows, I always wondered how he managed to even have a TV show. Butt ugly, no talent, foul mouth, full of himself, sissy boy. People would have to be desperate to go to or watch one of his shows.

That's what liberals do, they use profanity. Hunter, Colbert, the rest. Profanity is the last refuge of the inarticulate. When you pepper your conversation with profanity, you admit you've got nothing of value to offer.

Having grown up watching Johnny Carson interview Jack Benny, Bob Newhart, Bob Hope and many others, I would never associate this guy with late-night comedy hosts. He's about as funny as a flat tire.
