That’s it, Big Bird — time for you,
and PBS, to get off the Washington gravy train

Big Bird deserves to lose this time. In the past, whenever Republicans have tried to cut federal funding for public broadcasting, the eight-foot-two-inch-tall yellow bird has been trotted out as an exemplar of all that is good and necessary about PBS, and the federal dollars have been preserved. (snip) a Trump-backed recissions bill represents the best chance to defund public broadcasting in decades, if not ever. The bill, clawing back previously appropriated funding, has already passed the House and is now being considered in the Senate, where the filibuster doesn’t apply. The measure targets $9.4 billion in federal spending, including funds for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

Sesame Street has brought in $Billions on the sale of their products. You pay for it. They should be treated like any other station. Run commercials. 50, 60 years ago when Sesame was presenting numbers and the alphabet and manners and colors it was great. I can remember watching it everyday with my son while we had lunch. Now, not so much. With a thousand different way to become informed PBS really isn't needed for "news". They do have other interesting programming but I am willing to watch some commercials if need be. Soros seems to be throwing money around maybe he'll fork over some to Big Bird.

Once upon a time PBS had some value. I would listen to the Classical Music station but now it is just a forum for left-wing ideology. To add insult to injury, they want us to pay to watch the television programs.

PBS and NPR have been operating as private corporations, including ads, political activity, for almost 5 decades. 50 years times $500 million is 25 Billion of subsidies. And no income taxes. The nonprofit status of these corporations should be removed. They are for profit for all those employed there, and for the Democrat Party.

That's great news. When I occasionally land on the PBS stations, the only interesting and worthwhile programming seems to be coming from Britain. Cartoons, gay/trans nonsense, DEI garbage and anything by Henry Lewis Gates will not be missed. David Attenborough has passed away so the Climate Change nonsense is minimal.

Many people surmise the Trump administration is unaware of the ongoing MAGA backlash to the DOJ and FBI position on matter of Jeffrey Epstein. For a significant -albeit unknown- portion of President Trump’s support base, the case against Jeffrey Epstein was/is a strong part of how they positioned their MAGA support. That coalition is now furious and threatening to withdraw support for President Trump on all other policy areas. Attorney General Pam Bondi, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino are all telling the same story. There is trouble afoot. June 1 marked the 100th anniversary of Pierce v. Society of Sisters. This landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision struck down an Oregon law that prohibited parents from educating their children in private and religious schools and required public school attendance. Justice James McReynolds wrote, “The child is not the mere creature of the state,” which summed up the majority opinion in the decision. A century later, however, the battle continues. On June 27, SCOTUS ruled 6–3 that Maryland parents who have religious objections can pull their children from public school lessons using “LGBTQ+ inclusive” storybooks. The Mahmoud v. Taylor decision maintains that parents have a fundamental right to direct

. That Democrats cloak their prioritization of party over country in sanctimonious hypocrisy only salts the wound of a public clamoring for sane and safe immigration policies. What then drives the Democrats’ venal support of open borders and sanctuary states and cities? It is not principle but power: behind the vainglorious virtue-signaling are the sordid motives of votes and money, both of which are based on population figures found in the census. The vote motive has been well discussed, if not resolved.

The departments of Health and Human Services (HHS), Education, Agriculture, Labor, and Justice are ending illegal aliens’ abilities to leech off the American taxpayer by taking advantage of federal programs. The departments announced on Thursday that illegals will no longer be able to access the government programs, as they have been able to do since the Clinton administration. The Trump administration made the move to “ensure that taxpayer-funded program benefits intended for the American people are not diverted to subsidize illegal aliens,” HHS said in its announcement.

Furious that Trump is finally getting around to keeping his wildly popular promises on immigration, The New York Times has decided to take out its frustration on his wunderkind adviser, Stephen Miller. Before I describe the opening of the hit piece, let’s review some relevant polls. Since Trump’s election, Americans have consistently, overwhelmingly told pollsters that they want mass deportation of all illegals. An Axios poll in January, for example, showed an astonishing 66% in favor. Even at the mendacious Times, a poll that same month put it at 55%. (With the NYT wind chill factor, that makes it 63%.)
