Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson unloaded on her Supreme Court colleagues Friday in a series of sharp dissents, castigating what she called a "pure textualism" approach to interpreting laws, which she said had become a pretext for securing their desired outcomes, and implying the conservative justices have strayed from their oath by showing favoritism to "moneyed interests."
The attack on the court's conservative majority by the junior justice and member of the liberal wing is notably pointed and aggressive but stopped short of getting personal. It laid bare the stark divisions on the court and pent-up frustration in the minority over what Jackson described as inconsistent and unfair application of precedent

Perhaps a frothy bubble bath, a spot of tea, and a cushy robe would help poor Michelle Obama work through her past traumas, like being married to former president Barack Obama and having to pay for food while living at the White House.
Instead, she has been working out her imagined hardships in public interviews and podcasts, like a public therapy session nobody asked for.
Michelle lashed out at her husband in the cruelest way on this week’s podcast that she shares with her brother(snip), basically saying she would not want a child that turned out like him. Is there a higher insult one can give a spouse?

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), one of the most vocal Republicans pushing against American intervention in Iran, posted on X that President Trump’s bombing of Iranian nuclear sites is unconstitutional. *snip)Massie wanted to introduce a war powers resolution in the House on Tuesday that would prohibit American involvement in Iran.
“This is not our war. But if it were, Congress must decide such matters according to our constitution,”(snip) the president also has war powers dictated in Article II of the Constitution.
As commander-in-chief of the armed forces, these two articles are a big source of constitutional debate. Also, there has been no declaration of war.

Representative Gregory Meeks (D-NY) said Friday on MSNBC’s “Ana Cabrera Reports” that the Trump administration’s blocking Congress from ICE facilities heightened suspicions that there was “something going on that should not be going on.”
Meeks said, “This is my concern about this administration. He has continuously tried to go around Congress and block Congress from doing its constitutionally responsible duties. We are and have oversight and should be let into these facilities without notice. Because if you have notice, then they can try to, you know, fix something up that’s not actual. The way that you find out what actually is taking place,

She might be the She-Wolf of Wall Street.
Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-California) raked in between $7.8 and $42.5 million in 2024 — meaning her estimated net worth with venture capitalist hubby Paul Pelosi could now top out at $413 million, new financial disclosures showed.
The staggering sum is an eye-popping jump from 2023, when financial disclosures showed the couple’s net worth topping out at a possible $370 million.
Pelosi’s exact net worth is not known because lawmakers are only required to disclose ranges.
Market research firm Quiver Quantitative, which estimates a single figure based on daily stock values it tracks, placed the pair’s 2024 worth at $257 million

This is madness. Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sends a twitter message as if he’s ordering coffee from the guy down the street, telling NATO members not to forget to send him his $40 billion in “budgetary support.”
Budgetary support means we pay for the operational cost of Ukraine government, including govt payrolls, pensions, healthcare services, welfare and social services for the people in Ukraine.)snip)
The crazy thing is, unless Trump stops it, our congress will give it to him. And even if Trump tries to stop it, congress will demand the payment as part of their appropriations process.
As if we don’t have important priorities here at home

Washington State Democratic Party Chair Shasti Conrad won the Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) second open vice chair position Friday after members voted to redo the election amid significant inner turmoil over David Hogg’s role within the party. Conrad won the spot with almost 56 percent of the vote over DNC member Kalyn Free in a runoff election that took place from Wednesday to Friday. Kansas Democratic Party Chair Jeanna Repass had initially been eliminated from contention for the seat in the first round of voting after no candidate received a majority of DNC members’ votes. Conrad finished the first round

On Friday, Vice President JD Vance visited Los Angeles in light of the city allowing for anti-ICE, pro-illegal immigration, and even pro-terror raids to get out of control. It turns out Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA), who has been spending far too much time on social media ranting and raving against the Trump administration, has a message for Vance, as the governor looks to challenge the vice president to a debate. [Tweet, video]
On Friday afternoon, Newsom put out a video message about Vance's visit, which he called "important" as he referenced the "devastating" wildfires that hit California in January, when the Biden-Harris administration was still in office.

California Senator Alex Padilla recently crashed a press conference by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. He deliberately wore no identification. He gave no advance warning that he would disrupt her briefing.
Instead, Padilla barged forward to the podium, shouting about the deportation of illegal aliens.
Immediately, Padilla got his media moment wish -- once Secret Service agents, who had no idea who Padilla was, forcibly removed him. Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., recently attempted a pseudo-filibuster, speaking nonstop for 25 hours straight -- not to delay legislation, but to fixate on President Donald Trump.

Have you wondered why the story of the Minnesota assassin Vance Boelter has suddenly vanished from the news? Now we have a pretty good idea why.
Boelter, who murdered State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband while also shooting State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, unleashed terror that sparked a massive manhunt before his capture late Sunday. Initial media coverage was rife with speculation, with left-leaning outlets eager to cast Boelter as a MAGA Republican, hastily blaming the GOP and even President Donald Trump for inciting his shooting spree.
Yet the letter found in Boelter’s abandoned vehicle tells a radically different story

An Obama judge on Tuesday held Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier in civil contempt of court for not following her orders.
In early April, U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams issued a 14-day restraining order blocking Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ new law, signed in February, making it a state crime for illegal aliens to enter his state. [Tweet, video]
Williams issued the temporary restraining order (TRO) in response to a suit filed by the Florida Immigrant Coalition, according to Fox News.
After discovering that the Florida Highway Patrol had, despite her TRO, arrested over a dozen people, including a citizen, using the new law,

Shortly after sunrise, Iran launched a barrage of 20-30 missiles in three waves, according to Israel’s Army Radio. Sirens were sounded in the north, and then throughout the entire country. Most of the missiles were intercepted by Israel’s air defenses; the missile that hit the port city of Haifa, where Arabs and Jews live side-by-side, was the only one that caused injuries on the ground.
It turns out that one of the damaged buildings was the Al-Jreena Mosque, one of the most important Muslim houses of worship in the city.
Muslim clerics, or imams, were in the mosque, presumably ahead of weekly juma’ah services held on Fridays.
Comments:
I don't think any western leader, including Donald Trump, has a grasp on what radical Islamism means, and how true to the Koran its adherents are. When the Koran tells them to kill all the Jews and then conquer and kill all the infidels, they do the best they can to obey. Does Trump know that, or does he think he can make a deal with anyone with the force of his personality?
