Others have noted that Gergen was essentially a hack talking head who wormed himself into the power centers of both Democrat and Republican administrations. That's not what I'll remember him for, however. What I will forever remember him for was his bleating on behalf of Democrat entitlement that Scott Brown had no business running for the "Ted Kennedy" seat in the Senate. Gergen did this as he "moderated" a debate on PBS between Brown and Martha Coakley for the seat vacated by the death of Sen. Kennedy. Brown, possibly at the top of his intellectual game in his public life, rebuked Gergen by making it clear to him that the seat did not belong to the Kennedy family, or to the Democrats, but to the people of the state of Massachusetts. Gergen appeared visibly shaken that his planned zinger had completely boomeranged on him. Brown went on to win the election and become an early leader of the Tea Party movement.

He masqueraded as a conservative but I never once heard him say anything I recognized as a conservative value. He was a shill for the left and allowed them to claim the bi-partisan high ground on a false premise. Real conservatives were never fooled, only the sheeple of the left.

Re #9 I just spoke at the funeral of an old friend who had Lewy-Body dementia. He was a scholarship football offensive guard in college. I know dementia is common as people age (it used to just be ascribed to "senility). I am no doctor but that's the fourth friend to die of dementia in the last few years and they all played college football. One went on to play in the NFL. I know how so many of us love to watch pro and college football but this is becoming a serious problem. The saying about boxers was "punch drunk" when they had taken too many shots to the head. Maybe technology will help solve this one day but I am just glad neither of my sons played serious football. One was a high school wrestler and the other a college golfer. Much better than being hit in the head every day.

Michael Kelly neatly summed up Gergen: ''To be Gergenized is to be spun by the velveteen hum of this soothing man’s soothing voice into a state of such vertigo that the sense of what is real disappears into a blur.''

Iran, the world's foremost state sponsor of terrorism, despite having its nuclear weapons program disassembled by Israeli and American explosives, is still run by the mullahs. And those mullah's mouths are still writing checks their butts can't cash. In the latest, Iran has now placed a $40+ million bounty on President Trump. An Iranian movement has reportedly raised more than $40 million for the assassination of President Donald Trump, as the country’s senior religious clerics make clear that "every cell of the resistance in the West is charged with carrying out this sentence." Iranian leaders recently issued two death warrants, or fatwas,

The report from NBC News also includes removal and deportation figures, but does not distinguish between the two. According to the ICE data, more than 18,000 illegal aliens were either deported by ICE agents from the interior

The Friday news cycle was dominated by reports that FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino skipped work and is considering resigning because of disagreements with Attorney General Pam Bondi over the Jeffrey Epstein files and the way their release was handled. Many pundits felt that the AG had overpromised but then under-delivered on possible new revelations in the investigation of the convicted pedophile. The Department of Justice announced Monday that there was no Epstein “client list” and that it was confirmed that he died by suicide in his Rikers Island jail cell and was not murdered. It was a conclusion that left many observers dissatisfied, including, reportedly, Bongino.

Investigators were able to get data out of the black boxes, including 49 hours of flight data and two hours of cockpit audio, including the crash.

It doesn't seem like there are sane Democrats left at this point. With so many of them embracing extremism from New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani to the demonizing of ICE, they are off the rails, bat guano nuts at this point. That's also given license to the bad actors — the anti-ICE people who have been targeting agents in despicable attacks, such as the shootings in Texas at a detention center and a Border Patrol facility. Fetterman called the demonizing of ICE agents "absolutely unacceptable, terrible, awful." He said, "ICE agents are just doing their job, and, um, I fully support that."

Director James Gunn is suddenly the Mario Mendoza of action filmmaking, and his Superman denotes the Mendoza Line, the trough of superhero futility.
