An awkward on-air silence occurred during ESPN’s broadcast of the Indiana Fever-Las Vegas Aces game on Sunday after analyst Rebecca Lobo said, “That’s what makes America great.” Lobo’s comment was in reference to saying she disagreed with officials making a foul call in the final minute of the Aces’ 89-81 win over the Fever. “They disagree with you,” play-by-play announcer Pam Ward said to her partner Lobo. “They do, and I disagree with them,” Lobo responded. “And that’s fine. That’s what makes America great, right Pam Ward?”

A freed Israeli hostage revealed his Hamas tormentors “immediately” treated him better when President Trump was elected — and claimed the group of terrorists wanted Kamala Harris to win the 2024 election.
Omer Shem Tov, 22, provided insight into Hamas’ political calculations as he detailed the hellish conditions he endured for more than 500 days after he was kidnapped during the Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel. “As soon as Donald Trump was elected, they understood that he wants to bring the hostages back home,” he told CNN in a new interview published Wednesday.

A pair of suspects wanted in the hit-and-run jet ski death of a teenage Air Force recruit on a Texas lake have been arrested — and both are believed to be illegal immigrants.
Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez and a man she allegedly fled from Grapevine Lake with were arrested Tuesday after a standoff with police at their Dallas-area home, according to Fox 4. Gonzalez is suspected of fatally striking 18-year-old Ava Moore with a jet ski as she kayaked on the lake Sunday evening, and then fleeing from the scene in the man’s car as bystanders tried in vain to save the teen.

Ousted Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) argued in a letter addressed just to “White People” on Tuesday that “white supremacy” is the reason Daniel Penny was acquitted in the subway chokehold death of Jordan Neely.
In the bizarre rant, posted on X, the departing “Squad” lawmaker further suggested that he doesn’t understand why he feels the need to “keep talking” to white people.
“Dear White People,” Bowman’s manifesto begins.
“I don’t know why I feel the need to keep talking to you. I don’t know why part of me still has hope for you and for us. Some of you are too far gone."

An unusually cold weather system from the Gulf of Alaska interrupted summer along the West Coast on Saturday, bringing snow to mountains in California and the Pacific Northwest and prompting the closure of part of a highway that runs through a national park. Parts of Highway 89 through Lassen Volcanic National Park in California were shut down after an estimated 3 inches of snow fell overnight, according to the National Weather Service.

An online petition to have the Chiefs part ways with kicker Harrison Butker in the wake of his viral commencement speech has exceeded 180,000 signatures. “The harmful remarks made by Harrison Butker, kicker of the Kansas City Chiefs, during his commencement address at Benedictine College were unacceptable,” the petition’s organizer wrote. “His comments were sexist, homophobic, anti-trans, anti-abortion and racist.” There also is a place online for people to show their support for Butker. It’s a site called “From Field Goals To Family Goals: Harrison Butker Wins,” and apparently has ties to former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz.

The UK’s first transgender national news anchor has reported “Harry Potter” author JK Rowling to the police for “misgendering” her as a “man” on social media. India Willoughby, 58, reported having “contacted Northumbria Constabulary” over a series of X posts Sunday by the outspoken author. Rowling, also 58, called Willoughby “just a man reveling in his misogynistic performance of what he thinks ‘woman’ means: narcissistic, shallow and exhibitionist.”

First son Hunter Biden made a surprise appearance Wednesday at a House Oversight Committee hearing where members were debating a resolution holding him in contempt of Congress. Hunter, 53, ignored the requests from the Oversight and Judiciary committees to sit for interviews Dec. 13 and instead gave a speech ripping Republicans leading an impeachment investigation of his father. The first son showed up with his lawyer Abbe Lowell and “sugar brother” Kevin Morris and sat in the front row of the hearing room. Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) tore into Hunter Biden for being the “epitome of white privilege”

A prominent Tennessee businessman was shot and killed by a man with 66 prior arrests while on his way to attend his high school class’s 20th-anniversary reunion, authorities said.
Christopher Wright, 38, was in downtown Chattanooga on Thursday night to meet up with fellow Baylor School alumni when he got into an argument with Darryl Roberts, a career criminal known as “Too Tall,” Chattanoogan.com reports.
Surveillance of the incident shows Wright, a father of three, including an 8-week-old baby, talking to Roberts, 57, and another man before walking away.

Eleven-time NBA champion coach Phil Jackson has lost interest in the basketball league because it’s simply gotten too political.
The former coach of the Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers appeared on the “Tetragrammaton with Rick Rubin” podcast earlier this month and said he didn’t stop watching the game immediately after stepping away from coaching—it was the league’s woke messaging during the 2020 COVID lockdowns that turned him off.
Comments:
leave it to ESPN and the WNBA to apologize for saying something good about America.
