It looks like it's going to be a busy weekend. We saw things get started early with anti-ICE protests in a variety of locations, including at the Delaney Hall ICE facility in Newark on Thursday and Friday. Also on Friday, there was action at the U.S. Capitol. People were protesting at the Supreme Court. A long list of Hollywood celebrities took to the streets Saturday as tens of thousands of mostly white, older Americans joined the “No Kings” protests in many big, deep-blue cities.
Celebs including Mark Ruffalo, Ellen Pompeo, Kerry Washington, Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Cryer, and more were seen mixing with the hoi polloi in places like New York City and Los Angeles.
For instance, Disney and Marvel Studios star Mark Ruffalo, who was seen parading with actress Susan Sarandon, turned out on the streets of New York City to join the anti-Trump crowds.
“We see a president who has made himself a king and a dictator,” Ruffalo absurdly declared at the rally.
Intraparty fighting is threatening to stall the Democratic Party’s efforts to rebuild seven months after President Trump’s sweeping general election victory.
The party has also been roiled by revelations and questions about the last months of former President Biden’s administration and whether he was in the midst of a cognitive decline.
They also will have to contend with a number of high-profile primaries in the year ahead.
And ousted Democratic National Committee Vice Chair David Hogg has been at the center of controversy, using his political group to challenge incumbent House Democrats.
In a Sunday evening Truth Social post, President Donald Trump ordered ICE officers to "do all in their power to achieve the very important goal of delivering the single largest Mass Deportation Program in History," first focusing on "our crime ridden and deadly Inner Cities, and those places where Sanctuary Cities play such a big role."

A Minnesota state representative and her husband were shot and killed in a brutal attack at their home on Saturday morning. A state senator and his wife were also attacked and shot multiple times in their homes about an hour before the attack on the representative.
Democrat State Representative Melissa Hortman is dead after a person allegedly wearing a police uniform shot her and her husband. The man, believed to be a police impersonator, fired on police officers who arrived at the home to conduct a safety check, CNN reported. The gunman got into what appeared to be a police vehicle and fled the scene.

The manhunt for Vance Boelter, 57, the suspect in the Minnesota shootings that left two lawmakers shot and two others dead, took a new turn Saturday as law enforcement detained several of his relatives—including his wife Jennifer—during a traffic stop in Mille Lacs County.
Tom Hauser of ABC 5 Eyewitness News reported that the stop occurred between 10 and 11 a.m. Saturday near a convenience store outside Onamia, roughly 90 minutes north of the Twin Cities. “Law enforcement made a traffic stop involving a vehicle carrying several relatives of Vance Boelter, including his wife,” Hauser said.
