President Donald Trump’s Department of Justice started investigating former President Joe Biden’s pardons, specifically the preemptive pardons he gave his family and clemency for 37 prisoners on federal death row. Biden pardoned: Hunter Biden Brother James and his wife Sara Brother Francis Sister Valerie and her husband John Owens The preemptive pardon for Hunter infuriated numerous people, especially since it covers charges he faced or might have faced from January 1, 2014, through December 1, 2024. In February, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem terminated Venezuela’s 2023 designation for Temporary Protected Status (TPS), a temporary immigration status granted when foreign nationals cannot return to their home countries because of safety concerns, such as ongoing armed conflict, environmental disasters, or epidemics.
A TPS designation protects individuals from deportation and allows them to apply for authorization to work in the United States.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy threatened Wednesday to pull federal grants for California’s High-Speed Rail Authority after it spent nearly $7 billion in taxpayer funds over a decade and a half without laying a single foot of track.
In a more than 300-page report, Duffy detailed the missed deadlines and stretched budget for the long-running project — and gave the Golden State’s high-speed rail office 37 days to respond or lose out on around $4 billion in grants.
