Illinois Bill Would Let Failing School
System Send Homeschooling Parents To Jail

Original Article

Homeschool parents would face fines, misdemeanor charges and even jail time if they do not report themselves to local public school officials, under a new proposal from Illinois Democrats.  Parents also would be required to provide public school officials with a “portfolio” of their children’s work at any time, at any interval and frequency, until that portfolio meets the public school’s satisfaction. The bill, dubbed the“HomeschoolAct,” requires  parents to report themselves in writing to local school officials starting in 2026. Parents who do not will be considered truant.

No, no, no. There are more failing kids in the public school system. Teachers and the Dept of Education need to go to jail. Not all home schooling is perfect but it's better than the public system.

I have a better idea. How about each year Illinois has a "Battle of the Aptitude Tests"? In one corner, you have the homeschooled kids, the charter school kids, and the private school kids. In the other corner, the unionized teacher public school kids. And loudly publish the results every year for the gigantic feather in the cap of public schools we all know it will be.

Most parents who home-school are 'aware enough' to be in a group of home-schooling parents. Neighborhoods, churches, etc. I've seen some successful clusters of home schoolers in the two cities most familiar to me. Even if a student has only one or two grade levels of home schooling, it make a great difference in their successful high school achievement.

Home schooling has several benefits and one major non-benefit. The child is safe from bullies and general discipline in the public school, it doesn't receive the teachers liberal bias, it is in an environment where it can learn, the bad thing is it does not get to intermingle with it's peers.
