President Donald Trump will sign an executive order making English the official language of the United States.
Despite English being the predominant language, the U.S. has never had a national language at the federal level...
The summary of the order said the goal of making English the national language is to promote unity, establish efficiency in the government and provide a pathway to civic engagement.

It is so crazy how all these formerly common sense things now have to be made into laws. That is how deranged and far off course the corrupt left wing has taken us.

#1 Having spent some time in Memphis, I can confirm many already can not.
Right on OP, long long overdue. I don't care what you speak at home but the language of business, government, and education should be English.

Does this mean we won't have to "press 1 for English" anymore?

Tax forms come in English and Spanish.
Applications for food stamps come in 27 languages.
Anyone see a problem?

30 years or more ago when Dr. S. I. Hayakawa--a brilliant man--was a Senator he introduced just such a bill that was shot down by the leftoids and RINOs.

This is extremely overdue. During WWI, the military was shocked at how many recruits did not speak English. Folks from PA were speaking German variations, those from the Plain states were speaking various Scandinavian languages, recruits from various cities only spoke Italian, etc. These weren't first-generation Americans, either. The local schools were teaching in the language of where the immigrants came from and never switched to English over the generations. That prompted the requirement that all public schools teach in English.

The US Constitution was written in the English language. That alone should indicate that the people who created the USA fully considered that the English language was to be the official language of the United States. To back that up, along with the Trump just signed Executive Order, the US Congress now should pass Federal legislation naming the English language as the official language of the USA.

I have been royally pi**ed off getting voter instruction forms with Spanish. What business do you have voting here if you don’t understand English? Just printing them should be treasonous.

When people come here they sure learn how to count money fast. Learn the language!
I was told that enforcing the English only law will be impossible to enforce. A liberal. Of course!

#5, if only. Maybe down the road but private businesses still see an advantage in multilingualism in obtaining new customers. #14, that is interesting.

- What language was the U.S. Constitution written in?
- What's the only language spoken in the House or Senate of Congress?
- What language is spoken in the U.S. Supreme Court and every lower Court to Municipal level?
By virtue of the examples given, English is the official language of the United States.
The President will EO the matter, now you lazy Congress, CODIFY IT!
