Federal workers in Washington, fired from their jobs as part of the Trump administration’s ongoing cuts, are being kept from getting unemployment checks, U.S. Sen. Patty Murray said Wednesday during a virtual press conference.
“We are hearing from literally hundreds of people … that they got this letter that said they were being fired for poor performance,” Murray said. “That has impacts beyond just the emotional ones you’re hearing and the fact that they’ve lost a job — but in many of those who are trying to collect unemployment, it is hampering them from collecting unemployment.” Three recently laid-off federal workers local to Washington

You'd think bureaucrats would know how to deal with government paperwork.
Obviously these fired bureaucrats weren't very good bureaucrats.

FTA: “There’s going to be fewer park rangers at entrance stations and visitor centers to warn you that ‘Hey, this trail that you were planning on going on is dangerous,'” he said. “There’s going to be fewer park rangers to rove around a campground and tell you, ‘By the way, we’ve seen a black bear or a Grizzly bear’ or whatever.” Look, if you're in bear territory, you don't need a park ranger--he's not there; he'll be there later to identify your remains--you need something like a Glock 20, a 10mm pistol with a 15+1 capacity. Bear spray is iffy. So is a 140 db blast from an air horn. Bells just wind up tinkling in the bear scat a day later. Hardcast, not hollowpoint, ammo is best.
Don't try to run away. Only three modern sprinters have exceeded 27 mph (Usain Bolt fastest at 27.8). Bear can run over 30, and can keep it up for miles. Bears (I hear) are good eating, and their fur is worth tanning and keeping. Better the bear than you. But you can't lick him without a gun. Or, if you're lucky, a Ka-bar combat knife in his chest.

It has happened to the best of us. I remember in January 1991 I was laid off at the airplane manufacturer in St. Louis, along with 10,000 others when the A-12 contract was cancelled. Didn't find work for 8 months. DH had just started a construction company two months prior to my layoff and didn't get his first bid job until a month after I found work. We survived. They can too. Most of us have been there and done that.

Lots of assertions but the blonde in tennis shoes shows no proof of hardship. WA is a deep blue state and should have plenty of government workers on hand.

A 10 mm vs an adult bear?
Lol, no. You'll just p*ss it off before it eats you.
12g shot gun or several 7.62 rifle rounds to be sure. You don't want some 1 shot rifle when a grizzle is charging you.

Nothing says you can't get unemployment compensation if you are fired for cause. That only means your previous employer isn't surcharged for your benefits. I have a suspicion benefits (if they are in fact) denied are because there is another significant source of income, such as a 2nd full time job involved? Great thing about living in today's technology is the truth always comes out.

I went through my share of layoffs in the mining industry back in the 1980s and 1990s. All due to dim ignorance in where the nation's minerals come from and the dims' strong disdain for America's mining companies. Hence, the NIMBY narrative - Not In My Back Yard.
Folks in the federal workforce, your job security is no longer guaranteed. The federal Government is broke and is currently hemorrhaging cash at a rate of over $4 Billion per day. Chairman Powell of the Federal Reserve has recently said that the days of uncontrolled government spending is no longer sustainable and that a fiscal crisis within the federal government and survival of the US Dollar looms. Your day of reckoning is here. It's tough but deal with it best you can.

Are the government unemployment forms too hard for the ex federal government employees to fill out properly? They need to say they were laid off as a part of a large lay off. If denied, they need to follow the appeals process. I'm sure these people aren't used to actually having to work to get things, but they are a part of the real world now. They should all apply for State government jobs so that they can be useless government bureaucrats there.

The statement in the headline is not supported by any facts in the article. It merely states that the way the law reads it might be difficult for these laid off federal workers to receive unemployment compensation. At no point does it give an example of someone who had such difficulty.

Re #11: If one is hunting the bear rather than hiking in bear territory, a large caliber rifle is best. (.338 Lapua Magnum or .375 H&H works well. A .416 Rigby is also effective.) A 12 gauge shotgun with slugs--not buckshot!--is effective, too, although at much shorter than rifle range. The problem is capacity if the bear is close by and the first shot isn't mortal. If one is surprised by a bear, I would suggest that it might be better to have sixteen shots of hard cast 10mm than six shots of .44 Magnum. Much more muzzle climb on the big revolvers. With the 10mm, one has a chance to get all the rounds on target. 10mm is also effective against moose, which can kill grizzly bears with its rack of furniture.

Hospitals and universities are always hiring. No, won't be a corner office with windows but it would be a paycheck. If this isn't something you want to do, do it anyway and keep looking in the field you want to work in.

When I was fired from my job in 2011, I signed with several local temp agencies. They had me fully employed in no time. There are always temp agencies looking to place people in jobs, especially if you are hard working, reliable and good at what you do, but an absolute muck at interviewing, like me. I loved working for temp agencies and actually gained a reputation with the various clients as someone who learned quickly and did the required job efficiently. I was fully aware that not only was I representing myself and my work ethic, I was also representing the temp agency and THEIR reputation. In the end, my bosses knew that they could send me anywhere and I could be relied on to do a good job.
These whiners need to sign up with temp agencies. Either that or learn to code!!

FTA - "We are hearing from literally hundreds . . ."
Something I've noticed is the how frequently progressives use the word "literally". Apparently they think it lends some sort of credibility to their claim. Like they literally had no idea that Joe Biden had dementia.

IIRC, unemployment benefits are paid by the State, Washington. Feds reimburse, but it’s still a state matter. Patty’s just as rational as ever.

When your job can be accomplished by a warning sign, maybe just maybe you should "learn to code."
Truth is our government, federal, state, and local, is chock full of "make work" jobs for the stupid, weak, lazy, and otherwise unemployable. And sadly our military has become big daddy to a great many "baby mommas" who couldn't pass a real physical stress test if their lives depended on it.

Patty Murray is reportedly the dumbest member of the US Senate. (Although I find that hard to believe in a world where Maisie Hirono still exists).
And bear is very greasy.... doubtless an acquired taste at best. YMMV
