Texas attorney general Ken Paxton is suing a New York doctor for prescribing abortion pills to a Texas resident, despite not having a medical license in the Lone Star State.
The civil lawsuit, filed Thursday and announced Friday, alleges Dr. Margaret Carpenter provided abortion-inducing drugs to a 20-year-old woman in Collin County, Texas. State law forbids a physician or medical provider from mailing abortion pills and prescribing drugs through telemedicine without being licensed in that state. The out-of-state doctor is not being served criminal charges.

WASHINGTON — Reps. Cori Bush, D-Mo., and Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., the two departing members of the progressive congressional "Squad," delivered emotional farewell addresses on the House floor Thursday ahead of their final days as members of Congress.
Both congressmembers lost their Democratic primary races earlier this year, meaning they will not join the 119th Congress. The House website shows representatives will soon be away from Washington, D.C., on “district work periods” until the new Congress convenes on Jan. 3.
Rep. Bush appeared to shed tears while acknowledging the conclusion of her time spent representing St. Louis.

President Biden on Thursday commuted the prison sentence of Michael Conahan, a former judge who pleaded guilty to sending juvenile defendants to two private, for-profit detention centers in exchange for $2.1 million in kickbacks.
The 72-year-old judge pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy charges in 2011 and was sentenced to 17.5 years in prison for the “Kids-for-Cash” scheme.
He has been in home confinement in Florida under federal supervision since June 2020, when he requested a “compassionate release”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the Iranian people in a speech Thursday in which he urged them to rise up against their government, and promised them a future of peace and prosperity when Iran is free.
The speech, Netanyahu’s third in recent months, came as Israel reportedly considered plans to attack Iran’s nuclear program, which is vulnerable after Israel destroyed almost 90% Syria’s air defenses after the fall of the Assad regime this week.
Israel also destroyed Iran’s air defenses in an attack in October, which was a response to a massive ballistic missile attack by Iran earlier that month. Iran also attacked

The horrific murder of a healthcare CEO on the streets of New York City in early December has captivated the nation—and appalled all decent folk.
After a days-long manhunt, police nabbed the suspect, 26-year-old University of Pennsylvania graduate Luigi Mangione, at a McDonald’s in Altoona, PA, after he allegedly gunned down UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside of his midtown Manhattan hotel. Now it turns out the San Francisco police department had ID’d him days before his capture and had contacted the FBI:
Four days before the man who allegedly shot and killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City was arrested in Pennsylvania,

This is almost too ghastly to check.
I know the old vegetable - or at least the people who change his diapers - has been on a pardoning tear today. I mean, fixin' to eclipse every presidential pardon number ever. And, as always with this White House, it's a skeevey, sleazy day at the office. The one guy is a real peach. You read what this Jin did and you have to think, really?
THIS GUY? ...During Jin’s trial in Texas, an FBI special agent testified that his family was “connected to influential members of the Communist party in China”, according to court records. Local police investigators reported that an IP address

McALLEN — SpaceX’s goal is to colonize Mars. But first, it wants to create an official city in Texas.
Employees living on the site of SpaceX's operations in South Texas are requesting a special election to determine whether the site can be incorporated into a city.
Current residents of Starbase, the company’s South Texas headquarters and launch site, submitted a petition to Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño Thursday, according to a SpaceX spokesperson.
"We are investing billions in infrastructure and generating hundreds of millions in income and taxes for local businesses and government, all with the goal of making South Texas the Gateway to Mars,"

A U.S. appeals court on Wednesday ruled that Nasdaq could not impose rules designed to increase diversity in corporate America by requiring companies listed on the exchange to have women and minority directors on their boards or explain why they do not.
The 9-8 ruling by the conservative-majority New Orleans-based 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found that the rules approved by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission ran afoul of federal securities law.
The decision is a significant legal victory for opponents of policies meant to boost racial and gender diversity in corporations.

The Israeli Air Force is continuing its readiness and preparations for potential strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities, following the weakening of Tehran’s proxy groups in the Middle East and the fall of the Assad regime in Syria, Israeli military officials.
The military believes that an isolated Iran may push further with its nuclear program.
Due to the dramatic changes in the Middle East, especially the fall of Assad which allowed the IAF to take out the vast majority of Syria’s air defenses, the Israeli military believes there is now an opportunity to strike Iran’s nuclear sites.

The House Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump released its final report on Tuesday. The report covers the July 13 wounding of President-elect Trump at Butler, Pennsylvania, and the September 15 assassination attempt in West Palm Beach, Florida. The report paints a picture with which we are sadly familiar. The Secret Service's actions in Butler, in particular, reek of complacency and privilege. Basic principles, like "communication" and "unity of command," were totally absent. The elementary principles of tactical operations — reconnaissance, planning, control, and security — were tossed to the winds.
The Task Force found that the tragic and shocking events

President-elect Donald Trump is gaining further recognition from the establishment press for mounting arguably the greatest political comeback in American history.
Time Magazine named Trump its Person of the Year for 2024 after he convincingly won the presidential election in November against Vice President Kamala Harris, overcoming multiple assassination attempts and criminal proceedings in the process.
“This is someone who made an historic comeback, who reshaped the American presidency and who’s reordering American politics,”
