The Supreme Court upended gun laws nationwide.
Mass confusion has followed.

Semiautomatic weapons. Large-capacity magazines. Guns with scratched-off serial numbers. Ghost guns. Guns in bars and restaurants. Guns in the hands of people who have threatened to kill themselves or someone else. Which firearms are legal and who can have them all expanded in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark decision two years ago in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, which strengthened Second Amendment rights in America and launched hundreds of lawsuits challenging gun restrictions nationwide. This summer, the Supreme Court said it had been misunderstood: Courts were taking too far Bruen’s guidance that gun laws must align with U.S. “history and tradition.”

Written from an anti-gun rights perspective, of course, from Washington Post, but still a useful look at the situation. Infortunately, Rimini, the person, is a rotten guy, and the dysfunctional law enforcement system in his locale let him get away with WAY too much violence without any legal consequences.
Old saying: Bad cases make bad law. This was a bad case, but that is exactly why the anti-gunners brought it.

IMO, pretty much ALL gun laws are going to be found unconstitutional under Bruen. But it will take a lot of cases, and time. 500 cases pending under Brue now.

Not much of an article, but the comments were illuminating. Coward after coward trying to come off as tough guys. The saddest part is that a few of them are straight and reproduce.

How can 2nd Amendment rights be 'strengthened?' It's a nonsensical proposition. Rights are rights. They are atomic ie they exist or they do not. Which is why discussion of 'how much' speech should be free is fatuous. Dangerous, but fatuous. Same with 4th, 5th Amendments. Rights may be upheld but it obvious that many courts and governments seek the opposite outcome. Beyond that, the hackneyed 'cold open' is ridiculous. As we never tire of pointing out, semiautomatic weapons are merely weapons that can fire one shot after another without reloading. They are not 'machine guns.' Legal gun owners don't scratch off serial numbers. Ghost guns are media paranoia. And most guns in the hands of people who make threats are a) illegally obtained and b) in the hands of leftists, especially the psycho 'trans' people.

Government, in all places, at all times, is a snarling attack dog. All claw and fang. It is not your friend. It is not on your side. The Bill of Rights is the only chain We the People have on it. Governments don't like chains and constantly try to increase their circle of power. At the expense of your Liberty. It is a zero sum game, as they say. Constant vigilance is the price of Freedom.

I'd like to add to what Poster #5 said... yes, semi-automatic means one shot per one pull of the trigger. Isn't that the same for a revolver? Of course it is. The difference is that to reload a revolver, one has to free up the cylinder and shake out or push out spent shells. With most semi-auto weapons, one merely replaces the magazine. (I inherited my dad's plinking rifle what has a barrel magazine that holds 14 cartridges... semi auto but not the same.) And, of course, cylinders only have space for 5 or six cartridges.

Who needs U.S. citizenship, or for that matter, legal authorization to live in the U.S. when you've got Joe Biden's open borders? That looks like the story with illegals receiving Social Security benefits, a lifetime benefit that until recently had been perceived as nominally reserved for U.S. citizens, not illegal border crossers, and which Democrats are now trying to debunk. At the debate, NewsNation reported that Trump said: “Social Security … he’s destroying it because millions of people are pouring into our country and they’re putting them onto Social Security,” Trump said. “They’re putting ‘em onto Medicare and Medicaid. Putting them into hospitals.

Actor Mike Heslin, best known for his role on Taylor Sheridan’s Special Ops: Lioness, has died after an “unexpected cardiac event.” He was 30. The Independent reports Heslin was admitted to hospital for a week-long stay after the medical episode before he died on 2 July. The death was announced by the actor’s partner, Nicolas James Wilson, who goes by the name of Scotty Dynamo on social media. “Michael was young, in perfect health, and the doctors have no explanation for what happened,” Wilson wrote alongside images of himself and Heslin, including photographs from their wedding in November last year.

We now have a trend on the left: confusion. Leftists have fallen into an abyss. They are in the middle of full-throated chaos. Couldn’t happen to a nicer group. There has been this idea the left never makes mistakes, never falls into the whirlpools of self-destruction. Some on the right had begun to think of leftists as infallible. That’s one reason we are so feckless in countering their nonsense. They make themselves appear smarter and more powerful than they really are. And here they are, caught. Their timing couldn’t be worse.

According to journalist Carl Bernstein, several people “very close” to President Biden have related that the president has had 15-to-20 episodes of cognitive decline — similar to what happened during the presidential debate the other evening — during the past year and a half. Bernstein told CNN that these Biden supporters said, “There have been numerous instances where the president has lost his train of thought, can’t pick it up again.” The New York Post editorialized that Democrats and their “media enablers” have attempted to hide Biden’s cognitive decline.

The main headline out of the UK is that the Conservative party was stunningly defeated. Not only was Prime Minister Sunak given the boot, but Labour swept the board. What also happened is that Reform UK, which is the MAGA party of the United Kingdom, won a large share of the popular vote (although that didn’t move the Parliamentary needle much). Still, I suspect that the UK is on the glide path to what we’ve already seen in Italy, France, and the Netherlands—namely, unhappy people of all races but shared values giving the boot to open borders and Islamism.

Nudity warning, but this video perfectly sums up the utter stupidity that’s apparently a shared trait between leftist women in the West: They’ve got their bare boobs out, doing “housework” in a skirt and heels, looking cute enough with their makeup, all without the financial stability and safety net of a provider husband because…they’re mad about electoral results. Seriously, if you’re going to become a cliché male fantasy, at least get the serious benefits that a man brings to the table as a partner. Why give all that up for nothing in exchange? If the relationship between men and women is all so gross and transactional, as leftist feminism routinely implies

The Supreme Court made it official: no more bureaucrats guessing what the law is. Justice Gorsuch & Roberts got it right: “Chevron is overruled,” Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in his majority opinion. “Courts must exercise their independent judgment in deciding whether an agency has acted within its statutory authority.” Justice Neil Gorsuch, the son of a former Environmental Protection Agency administrator, wrote separately to call Chevron Deference “a grave anomaly when viewed against the sweep of historic judicial practice.” The 1984 decision, he said, “undermines core rule-of-law values ranging from the promise of fair notice to the promise of a fair hearing,”

How low Australia has fallen -- our once-great BHP now has a “Vice President for Climate,” the number of Australian students choosing physics at high school is collapsing, and our government opposes nuclear energy while pretending we can build and operate nuclear submarines. Our Green politicians want: “No Coal, No Gas, No Nuclear” while Our ABC, Our CSIRO and Our Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) are telling us that wind and solar energy plus a bit of standby gas, heaps of batteries, and new power lines can power our homes, industries, and the mass electrification of our vehicle fleet. This sounds like Australia’s very own great leap backwards.

For the first time in 30 years, Argentina experienced a zero-percent increase in the inflation rates of food and drinks during the third week of June, President Javier Milei confirmed on Monday morning. A study published on Sunday by Econométrica, a private Argentine consulting firm, first reported the no-inflation week. In its study, Econométrica analyzed 8,000 prices in local online supermarkets and found no change when compared to the preceding week — something that has not happened in Argentina in three decades. In addition to the lack of variation in prices in one week,

To preface, for the sake of clarity, I’m of course speaking in generalities and not definitives—overwhelming generalizations but generalizations nonetheless—and third world Muslim migrants, particularly the imports from Afghanistan, have no intention of assimilating and adopting the culture of the West; here’s the latest case illustrating exactly that, from Amy Mek’s new report at the RAIR Foundation: In a heartbreaking ‘honor killing’ in Worms, Germany, the police have arrested the Islamic parents of a 15-year-old Muslim girl after her body was found along the Rhine River.

In 2022, the Washington Examiner's Becket Adams reported that the Marine Corps Band was instructed to compose an entrance theme for First Lady Jill Biden. The song, Fanfare for the First Lady, was intended to be a counterpoint to the president's Hail to the Chief. But of course, the president is the elected commander in chief, and the First Lady is more of an honorary post. Many of those in the Marine Corps Band said they'd never been asked to do an exclusive First Lady entrance theme before. The Hollywood megastar, who has hosted fundraisers for the 81-year-old, said Biden can't win the 'battle against time' in a scathing op-ed for the New York Times on Wednesday morning. The actor also condemned Democratic party leaders for ignoring 'every warning sign' of Biden's declining physical and mental health and for trying to defend his car-crash performance against Donald Trump.

Jill hungrily appears to want to cling to the White House more tenaciously than Mr. Biden. She clearly loves the public spotlight and the perks of the office too much to let them go.

WASHINGTON — Liberal US Rep. The effort stands no chance of advancing in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives. To remove an official through this process, the House must vote to impeach and the Senate then must vote to convict. (Photo) Democrats for years have criticized the court, which has a 6-3 conservative majority, over rulings that advanced causes popular on the right. These have included rolling back abortion rights, expanding gun rights, rejecting race-conscious collegiate admissions and ruling that former presidents have broad immunity from prosecution
