MANILA, Philippines — Secretary of State Antony Blinken will underscore Washington’s “ironclad commitment” to its alliance with the Philippines on Tuesday, as clashes between Chinese and Filipino forces in the disputed South China Sea turn more hostile, the U.S. State Department said.
Blinken, the latest high-level official to visit the U.S. treaty ally, met his Philippine counterpart, Enrique Manalo Tuesday, before planned meetings with Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and other top officials in Manila.
Next month, President Joe Biden will host Marcos and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in a White House summit amid growing concerns over increasingly aggressive Chinese actions in the South China Sea and

I've read China is looking for some provocation so they can blame hostilities on the U.S., and so it seems China may be creating avenues for such a conflict. They way they took Hong Kong tells you Xi is not afraid to go elsewhere.

Wake up and smell the coffee, Tony. The bad guys are challenging us and our allies all over the world. They want to spread us so thin that we are useless.

An "ironclad commitment" from Blinken, the Philippines should check the small print.

Is that anything like a red line drawn in sand? Isn't water even less enduring than sand?

John McCain was a reliable pain in the neck. However, he went out of his way to express contempt for Blinken. McCain warned that Blinken was “dangerous to America.”

We'll see how long "ironclad support" lasts once Big Daddy China starts leaning on Slow Joe.

History is showing that so-called “Ironclad Commitments” made by Biden and his leftist Democrat crew are like “rubber bands” depending on domestic US politics especially during the political “funny season” leading up to the November election.

Unfortunately, Joe's "ironclad support" is worth exactly nothing.
It's useless, just like the ironclad guarantees of territorial integrity that the USA provided to Ukraine when our crooked, lying leaders (IIRC, it was Bush) swore to protect Ukraine from Russia if Ukraine would give up the hundreds of nukes that they had.
THAT "guarantee" was written in the air, and now Ukraine is being destroyed, and we give them damned little.
Thirty tanks, and not enough artillery shells to defend themselves. Just enough arms to make a decent fight, but never enough to actually drive the Russians out.
US guarantees are worthless, untrustworthy. If Ukraine had kept their nukes, Putin would have never invaded.

It's "Interesting" that America's Iron Clad Commitment voiced to a Marcos family heir is taking place at the same time Letitia James and the US Courts are trying to seize Trumps 40WallStreet Tower...Just as they Govt seized the same building when it was owned by the Marcos Family, a confiscation that took place through the same courts, after the US Govt withdrew it's "Ironclad support" for the Philippine Govt under the Marcos family.
