With only 19.5 million viewers, Sunday night’s Academy Awards bombed with the fourth-lowest viewership in Oscar history.
Naturally, the sycophants in the corporate media who need Hollywood’s ad dollars and refuse to admit America will never embrace their fascist Woke Revolution are spinning this failure with these howler headlines: “Oscars 2024 Hit 4-Year Viewership High With 19.5 Million” and “TV Ratings: Oscars Score Post-Pandemic Highs” and “‘Barbenheimer,’ and an Early Start, Boost Oscar Ratings to 4-Year High.”

Huh. They managed to get 19.5 million to waste their time on it?

Ha! That's like saying that Biden is the best president we've had since 2022. The woke and broke correlation in hollywood is something that even Paul Krugman can understand.

Of those 19.5 million viewers, what was the average length of time the viewer actually watched the Oscars? I'm guessing less than ten minutes. Most of which were commercials.

Reminds me of the old joke of when USSR and America decided to have one athletic contest to see which country produced better athletes so they settled on the 1500-meter race and when the American bested the Soviet, the headline in Pravda was: “Russian comes in second, American finishes next to last.”

I didn't even know they were happening until I saw some of the red carpet pictures in the Daily Mail. Then, I kept up my unbroken streak of not watching them since the early 90s.

Their self congratulatory butt kissing party is a non starter for me. Besides, I have seen two movies in the past 20 years. I am not their target audience but they hate me anyway. So I hate them right back

WGAF about a bunch of actors gathered to aggrandize themselves. After all they are better than us peons, just ask them. With AI coming around the bend, actors can be created and there will no longer be a need for humans to act. As Gervais said to them, no one GAF about you.

I must confess that I didn't watch the Oscars or Oppenheim. Never mentioned is the fact that it is well recognized the Oppenheim gave atom bomb secrets to the Russians. He was a spy! He is no hero in my book.

Watched the Oscars once in my lifetime only to be harangued by Whoopi Goldberg on, "How come there aren't any black hobbits?" Knew it right then, I'll never watch this slop again.

Why would anyone want to watch actors and actresses stumble onto a stage with dresses on that obviously didn't fit or were made to show their fake boobs and read cue cards that tried to make them sound funny. I for one can't stand Jimmy Kimble so that is a big reason not to watch.

I happily report that I haven't watched since fat boy Michael Moron tried to shame my then C-in-C now disappointing dimwit GWB onstage due to the Iraq War. It used to be fun to watch the Oscars. I still remember the last one I watched from beginning to end was when Titanic took home 14 awards. Billy Crystal was funny, and it was a good show. I still had my VCR and recorded it. Now I just don't care about movies that much anymore. Which is sad because I was a huge movie buff as a kid and a younger man. Now that I'm over 50 I doubt I'll get that magic back. Tanks for nothing Hollywood.

I can see that some people might tune in for the first few minutes at least to check out the red carpet to see how outlandish the "fashions" are. Many of them are usually truly awful but entertaining.

Didn't watch. Not boycotting....its just not very interesting to me anymore. I understand Oppenheimer cleaned up which is probably well-deserved. Mrs. Holliday likes to see the stars' outfits but that's about it. They won't ask me for my opinion but it needs to be politics-free, a couple of nice song or dance numbers, give out the awards then go home. I blame Brando and Sacheem Littlefeather for starting that virtue-signaling krep. I haven't seen "Oppie" yet but will in the next few days. The development of the bomb has always fascinated me.

Many movies, now, no longer try to please us, their audience, by truly reflecting both the good and bad in human existence; instead, they mostly lecture to us on what Hollywood sees as our failings, And then the actors strut around spending money in a drug daze and looking down their noses at humanity.

I haven’t watched the Oscars in decades and have only seen a tiny percentage of the nominated movies in all those years. I did see Oppenheimer and I have a feeling that it won all those awards due to the gratuitous nudity in the film.

Remember when Hollywood was filled with actors and directors who desperately wanted to freely express themselves without big corporate interests telling them what to do, being accused of holding Communist sympathies, or Washington DC bureaucrats threatening to censor their "art?"
In today's "brave new world" actors and directors beg for corporate involvement, product placement, and filthy lucre, while gladly bowing down to government censorship demands, not only from DC, but even those coming from foreign governments, including hostile Communist ones. The entire industry has been devolved into a perverse, Goebbelesque propaganda operation for hire, sans allegiance to "arts."
Artificial Intelligence will destroy the movie industry and grossly overpaid actors will be lucky to find low paid work doing "summer-stock."

The big news from the tv show was a declining number of younger viewers.
Realize the baby boomers are 60+ now, and likely never saw any of the movies nominated except possibly Oppenheimer (which is 3 hours+).
They are an industry in decline, less glamorous than previously, and they don't represent most of society.
