Freshman Alabama Sen. Katie Britt has been chosen by Republicans to deliver the rebuttal to President Biden's State of the Union address next week. The GOP's rising star won her Senate seat in 2022 after serving as a long-time staffer of outgoing Alabama Sen. Richard Shelby. Britt is the first woman to hold an Alabama Senate seat and at 42, the youngest Republican woman to be elected to the Senate. Trump had endorsed Britt in her 2022 primary after flipping on former Rep. Mo Brooks, who he'd first endorsed. (Photo) The president will address a joint session of Congress before her rebuttal

Donald Trump should have been the choice. Drive-by media whores are choosing ti block his access to the American people through delayed or "fact-checked" commentary during his remarks. At least in this case they'd have to carry it.

I always hated that and rarely watch. It is the President's duty to give that SOTU by whatever vehicle he chooses. usually it s an overhyped speech loaded with applause lines and complete BS. There is never a word of truth in them and its no secret. The other side does not need to give a counter speech and it really looks pathetic when they do.

#4, a cross and Bible (and frequently, the family praying) are prerequisites when running political ads in Alabama. There were excellent candidates for Shelby’s seat. But the National Uniparty, in conjunction with the Alabama grand poobahs, chose Kkkkkkkatie to run as the “Republican” candidate. I suspect she’s found the money trail already.

Just when the White House thought the worst had passed regarding The New York Times' disastrous poll for Joe Biden, Sunday morning brought us the second half of the equation. In the first release, the survey showed Donald Trump leading the current president by five points. That led to a bout of cross-tab "truther-ism" in which liberals showed they have no idea how polling works. Whatever penchant Republicans had for dismissing or trying to "un-skew" polls in past cycles, Democrats have firmly taken up that mantle, and it's hilarious to see.

Many of us have experienced people in our lives who build a certain narrative which we accept despite evidence before our eyes. Sometimes it’s easier to accept the narrative, sometimes the benefit of the relationship outweighs the cost of facing the facts. Very often, there comes a time when the dam we built to hold the facts away from our consciousness breaks. That is usually a critical moment. The same holds for our relationship with government. We all have accepted a certain narrative about our government. The less informed talk about a “democracy.”
