Lately, I have written and focused on the history of Watergate because I find it helpful in understanding American politics and power today. After living through Watergate, President Donald Trump has the benefit of having watched how the establishment’s legal-political-money-media lynch mob operates — a perspective that has allowed him to navigate through its attacks in ways Nixon simply couldn’t. But Watergate is only one data point in mapping out how the establishment tries to destroy its enemies. One of the most amazing things about Watergate is that Nixon’s predecessors, Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson, had done far more illegal things. The allegations Nixon was charged with

I just finished reading Nixon's White House Wars by Pat Buchannan. It cataloged the unfair, unjust ways the media and elites treated Nixon and, as I read it, I was struck by how eerily similar the headlines of today are in their treatment of Trump. It is an immoral disgrace.

Nixon was no hero, but he didn't anything close to deserve this DC assassination job. I will never forget that Nixon was the total idiot who froze wages and prices during inflation. He was the fool that let the Arab oil embargo cause far more disruption than it needed to cause if we had just, as Sarah said..."Drill, baby drill". Nixon was the guy who created the EPA by executive order. Why can't Trump delete the EPA by executive order? Nixon was no hero, never be fooled. But he was not a Demonrat, either. And he knew how to get us out of the Vietnam war by bombing Hanoi flat and putting aerial-installed sea mines in Haiphong harbor. Nixon did some things right, but a lot wrong. I was there, I remember. But Watergate was a total travesty, just like the whole deal against Trump. And in both cases the Enemedia did a lot of the work to destroy the president.

I wonder how many people today realize that Kennedy stole the election from Nixon in 1960. It was well-known back in the 60’s and 70’s, and astonishingly no one ever seemed to deny it. The mafia and Richard Daley delivered the vote for JFK’s dad.

Please fight to keep Biden as the Democratic nominee. Please push for both Kennedy and Manchin to run as independent candidates. In this scenario, Trump is unbeatable.

Biden’s border blackmail 8 replies

One week after Senate Republicans rejected White House-backed legislation that would have sent $3.7 billion to bail out sanctuary cities while also mandating the catch and release of all migrants arrested for illegally entering America from Mexico, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials threatened to release thousands more migrants into the U.S. by slashing capacity to detain them at the border. This unveiled threat by President Joe Biden is despicable, but is also laughably empty, for the cuts he is threatening are to the exact levels his administration sought in his last budget. Biden’s plan to deal with budget shortfalls at ICE, caused entirely by his misgovernment of the border,

In laying the foundation for his sweeping decision against former President Donald Trump, Judge Arthur Engoron observed that “this is a venial sin, not a mortal sin.” Yet, at $355 million, one would think that Engoron had found Trump to be the source of Original Sin. The judgment against Trump (and his family and associates) was met with a level of unrestrained celebration by many in New York that bordered on the indecent. Attorney General Letitia James declared not only that Trump would be barred from doing business in New York for three years, but that the damages would come to roughly $460 million once interest was included.

The mayor of London is under fire from critics for allegedly snubbing an art installation memorializing Queen Elizabeth II in Trafalgar Square in favor of an art piece showcasing hundreds of transgender prostitutes, local media reports show. Labour Party Mayor Sadiq Khan approved £1 million, roughly $1.2 million, to fund Fourth Plinth installations in the city’s famed Trafalgar Square for 2026 and 2028, according to Express. The plinth has long been used to showcase contemporary art installations, and Londoners had anticipated a statue of the late queen to be installed following her death in 2022.
What do Democrats do with a problem like Biden? 9 replies

President Biden will again be the Democratic nominee for president of the United States of America. Even after a special prosecutor in his own Department of Justice described the 46th president as a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” the only path to a replacement is Mr. Biden himself stepping down. That’s not going to happen. Sure, it’s fun to speculate. For months, pundits on social media have been promoting the theory that California Gov. Gavin Newsom would sweep in at the last minute and save his party. Those rumors seemed to die down after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Fox News host Sean Hannity provided Mr. Newsom

Describing a 2018 House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) report on the subject, Aaron wrote: The March 2018 House report found that the production of the ICA “deviated from established CIA practice.” And the core judgment that Putin

President Biden's administration and liberal supporters in Washington are bracing for a possible Donald Trump victory in November by installing "roadblocks" to limit the latter's ability to fire thousands of government workers, according to a new report. The Associated Press reported that a cabal of left-leaning experts, legal advisers and others are confident Biden will be re-elected but are urging him to prepare for the worst: another Trump presidency beginning in 2025. "My impression is the Biden administration is taking very seriously that potential threat and is trying to do things now," Michael Linden, former executive associate director of the White House Office of Management and Budget

A new survey found that two-thirds of full-time American workers say their income has not kept up with the rate of inflation. Rasmussen Reports released new survey results on Feb. 15 showing that 66% of American adults with full-time jobs have incomes outpaced by the rate of inflation, which continues to increase (though allegedly at a slower rate). Less than a third, or 29%, responded that their incomes did keep pace with the inflation rate. These numbers have worsened since October, according to Rasmussen, when 55% of full-time U.S. workers reported not having the income to keep pace with inflation.

President Joe Biden’s cascading confusion means Democrats have a problem similar to the one America faces as it slides ever deeper into debt. The crisis clearly requires action. You can pretend it isn’t real in the short term, but it won’t get better and won’t go away. It will only get worse. And the longer you delay, the harder and more painful fixing it will be. Just as continued overspending means more interest payments on mounting debt, so obdurate allegiance to Biden means his blue surrogates spend more time denying what’s increasingly obvious — that the guy is going gaga. In politics, it’s understood that if you’re explaining, you’re losing.

When Ronald Reagan challenged a sitting president, he famously asked his fellow countrymen: are you better off now than you were four years ago? This perfectly illustrates what is called the referendum hypothesis, meaning that elections with an incumbent are foremost a referendum on the incumbent. Decades later, when comedian Volodymyr Zelensky challenged incumbent president Petro Poroshenko in Ukraine, he told the latter in the same spirit during the debates: I’m not your opponent, I’m your verdict. Ukrainian voters rendered the verdict, elevating the outsider and first-time candidate Zelensky to the presidency with a whopping 73%.

Donald Trump's cognitive decline is 'more apparent' than Joe Biden's with 'slurred speech and gross, repeated errors' but both are concerning, a professor has warned. Politics professor Paul Quirk from the University of British Columbia assessed both the presidential front runners' cognitive functioning - after a series of gaffes raised questions about their fitness to hold office. He told Newsweek that 77-year-old Trump's cognitive deterioration is more obvious, but Biden's 'cognitive failure' could result in him refusing to relinquish control if needed during his second term.

I'm writing about the undeniable possibility that Michelle uses her husband's notoriety to launch her own political career. Rumors that Mrs. Obama might run for president have plagued the Washington political scene for years. But she has always denied that she wants the job. 'I've never expressed any interest in politics.
