At least three people have died in the historic flooding battering California, as multi-million-dollar mansions are trashed by rivers of flowing mud and boulders - while forecasters predict more rain is still to come.
The Pineapple Express, a weather system lingering over much of the Golden State, is causing chaos over several regions including the star-studded Beverly Hills, Malibu and Montecito neighborhoods.
The severe weather system has killed three Californians so far and 38 million people remain under flood alerts, as the National Weather Service forecasts additional rainfall of up to six inches into Tuesday.

Glad I moved.
No big deal. They'll just raise taxes permanently to pay for repairs.

I put Los Angeles County and the previously Golden State in my rear view over eight years ago. Good move, no?

Perhaps if they spent some of their billions on flood control dams, and held the water for irrigation and drinking?
But, no, they spend it on illegals and other bums.

Although no fan of Harry and Meghan, it is unfortunate that the severe weather threatening Montecito will complicate Harry’s plans to race to his father’s bedside after learning of his father’s cancer diagnosis as he needs to make arrangements to keep his wife, two children and mother-in-law out of harm’s way.

It seems like those who stayed deserve what they get for not having the foresight to flee like the rest. We I mean they were foolish enough to keep trying to fight.

Having lived in California, I was amused how they allowed homes to be build in floodplains, inches from ocean and cantilevered on the sides of mountains. Smug in their objective as in their mind's eye it 'never rains' so why can't I build there? They would sue the city to put their homes there! Then came the once-every-five-years rains and their houses came tumbling down and flooded out. To which the sued for letting them build in on the sides of mountains, flood plains and inches away from the ocean.
To the media, enough with #%&@ sensationalism & dramatics re California. ....and your love affair with celebrities.

Let me guess. Gavin is already on the phone with Biden demanding aid.
He won't ask him to declare CA a disaster area, it already is one.

"The chief operating officer of California utility Pacific Gas & Electric said Sunday was one of the most damaging single-day storms on record in terms of outages."
Wonder how thrilled all those EV drivers are now with no way to charge their vehicles, particularly if those same dead vehicles are their only means of transportation???!!

I feel terrible for anyone who has lost their home or community to something like this. Why, there could have been thousands of bums and illegals washed into the ocean.
But fear not. California has some of the wisest lawmakers in the country. No doubt they are already pushing laws through to raise taxes and deny their citizens their gun rights. Thattl make it all better.

California is supposed to be in the midst of a permanent drought. I guess the climate experts got it wrong, again.

Looking at the map of those celebritards, other than Mel Gibson, it'd be no loss to me if they all washed out to sea along with their homes. And the battery operated toy car failure is hilarious.

But - - but - - the drought - - the drought - - the Gullible Warming Permanent Drought.
All of this rain is destroying the Permanent Drought. Leftists don't want to live in a world which isn't being destroyed - - - - or something.

The way those houses are built in the hills they won't hold and start sliding down. When I visited there a few years ago and for the fun of it went house hunting. I went into a place on the side of a hill and asked the realtor how deep the pilings were and he said that they don't build that way. Amazing.

After reading all the gleeful comments rained
upon Californians devastated by floods and mudslides I wonder whether it is okay for me to mock the residents of Florida when their lives are ruined by the hurricanes that will sooner or later hit their low lying cities. Naw, I think I am better than that.

The 'cliffside homes falling into the sea' thing has been going on for a long time. If you ever visited those southern California coastal areas, the cliffs are DIRT with tiny pebbles mixed in. When the dirt is dry, they are hard and fairly strong. I've climbed up and down paths on them many times going down to various beaches below the beaches, like at Torrey Pines. Malibu is fairly similar kind of dirt cliffs.
Dirt...when wet, is just mud, and mud slides. So, building right on a dirt cliff by the ocean - great views, and in a desert climate you can get away with this stupidity for many years, perhaps even decades....but eventually, a big rain WILL come, and the dirt cliff will become a mud cliff, and slide into the sea.
Absolutely certain to happen, but the "when" isn't known.

As a kid, I saw the movie Don't Make Waves (Tony Curtis, Claudia Cardinale, Sharon Tate) about a man who finds himself on the beach in Malibu, and has some weird adventures. Claudia and Ms. Tate in bikinis were worth the price of admission.
The movie features some houses sliding into the ocean. As a kid on the East Coast, I was amazed that that could happen, and who would be senseless enuf to build there??
