Gay, 53, resigned on Tuesday and is now revealing she has been threatened and attacked with hate speech. For weeks, both I and the institution to which I’ve devoted my professional life have been under attack.'

If the same circumstances, with regards to her plagiarism, was a white male, who happened to also be a Republican, how would she, and the media, have reacted? Would they have said it was no big deal, and that person should remain as president of the university? Or, are they simply looking to make rationalizations, justifications and excuses?

She seems unfamiliar (and quite upset) with the concept of adult accountability. She knowingly committed plagiarism dozens of times, avoided meaningful consequences, and took a position for which she was unqualified due to her own lack of integrity. Harvard could invite Dr. Carol Swain, whose work Gay lifted without attribution, to speak at Harvard, and make the attendance mandatory. It would be helpful for students to hear about the harms of plagiarism from the perspective of a real academic who was a victim. Bigotry is another form of distorted thinking. Dr. Swain could challenge students to examine their hostile treatment of fellow students who have done nothing to deserve it.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott appears set for a huge victory on the border crisis, as President Joe Biden and Washington Democrats look likely to cave on Republican demands for a crackdown on migrants. The Republican posted to X on Tuesday, announcing the success of his program to bus illegal migrants to Democrat-led cities. He said his initiative has amounted to the transfer of nearly 100,000 migrants to cities such as New York, Boston, Denver, and Chicago - where leaders are being forced to find accommodation for them. Those Democrat-led areas bill themselves as 'sanctuary cities' that welcome migrants. But the New York Times reported that their mayors are so perturbed

Virginia Roberts-Giuffre claimed that Bill Clinton marched into the offices of Vanity Fair and demanded the magazine halt planned publication of a story about Jeffrey Epstein, newly-released court documents show. Roberts-Giuffre's claim was made in a May 2011 email discussing an interview to promote her planned book. She said Clinton 'walked into VF and threatened them not to write sex-trafficking articles about his good friend JE'. There is no evidence for her wild claim, and it seems highly unlikely that the former president would intervene in such a public way. If 2024 is set to be tumultuous and unpredictable, just wait until 2025 if Donald Trump wins the presidency again this year. His adversaries don’t have a history of accepting his victories with equanimity. Trump’s unexpected victory in 2016 launched conspiracy theories about how Russia had helped him win; catalyzed a years-long law enforcement investigation into him and his campaign based on those theories; and set off protests in the streets. All that was mild, given what may yet be in the offing.

We've seen a lot of anti-Israel freakouts at this point. I think it's safe to say these activists live in their own world, one that doesn't have a lot to do with reality. They think that everyone should bend the knee to them and accede to all their demands however unworkable or bad those demands might be. If they scream loud enough, they think they can succeed by bullying people. We've seen things from the crazy or concerning to the dangerous. But I have to say, this new video I just saw is pretty funny. Think anti-Israel Karen, and then you get where this video is going.

Mayorkas: (snip) "We have the effects of climate change, poverty, increasing level of authoritarianism, the very many challenges that are at the root cause of the displacement of people around the world.” The dude listed climate change before anything else. Climate change shouldn’t even be on the list, my man.

A mob of over 100 looters fresh off a street takeover smashed a Kia Soul through the door of a 48-year-old Compton bakery around 3 a.m. Tuesday and proceeded to rob just about anything they could get their hands on and vandalize the place. Street takeovers have become a serious problem in recent years in Los Angeles County, which Compton is a part of. At least six people died during or near street takeovers in 2022. The Kia had been involved in a pursuit earlier in the day. The mob, which mostly seemed to consist of young people, showed zero concern for the owners of the bakery
