“Are you a Trump supporter now?” is the question my friends, acquaintances, and colleagues sometimes ask me. (snip) What the Democrats and Never Trumpers want now is to push Trump and MAGA back into the danger zone. They want more violence. They want riots. They want an uprising that they can then bring in the military, weaponize dissent, speech, and ideology, and have the full backing of the American public. We’re almost there now.
But don’t take the bait, MAGA. You can defeat them by being the calm, reasonable side. Make them the crazy ones.

Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom criticized a proposal to kick former President Donald Trump off the ballot in California days after the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that the former president could not be on the ballot in the Centennial State.
Newsom claimed on Friday that Trump was a threat to democracy, but indicated that he did not support Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis’ request to California’s secretary of state to follow Colorado and move to kick Trump off the ballot. (snip)
“There is no doubt that Donald Trump is a threat to our liberties and even to our democracy,” Newsom said. “But in California, we defeat candidates at the polls."

The outgoing governor of Louisiana has pardoned 56 inmates since October of this year, including dozens of convicted murderers. (snip) "For as long as I can remember, Louisiana reflexively responded to an increase in crime by putting more people in prison and keeping them there longer," Edwards told Louisiana news outlet NOLA.com this week. "We've never been made safer as a result of that," Edwards said. "There is no data to suggest that an increase in crime here was because of the reforms."
Others released by Edwards include inmates convicted of arson, robbery, and drug dealing, according to a complete list compiled by local outlet Fox 8.

Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana, has reportedly rescinded a policy to consider accepting male applicants who “identify as women,” admitting that (the) school “lost people’s trust and unintentionally created division” when it made the decision last month to consider transgender applicants. (snip) Conboy had initially claimed that the decision to consider admitting male applicants to the women’s college was viewed as a “reflection of our College’s commitment to live our Catholic values as a loving and just community,” but noted that it became “increasingly clear” that “the position we took is not shared by all members of our community.”

Former Chicago Alderman Ed Burke, one of the most powerful and longest-serving politicians in the Windy City, was found guilty Thursday of racketeering, bribery and attempted extortion after a six-week-long federal corruption trial.
The 79-year-old Democrat was convicted on 13 of the 14 charges leveled against him in a 2019 federal indictment accusing the veteran Chicago City Council member of using his position to steer business from private developers to his law firm. Prosecutors also alleged that Burke threatened to block a measure raising admission fees at Chicago’s famed Field Museum over its failure to grant an internship to the daughter of a former alderman, whom he had recommended.

Republican candidate Steve Garvey, a former baseball star, took over the second place spot in California’s 2024 Senate race, surpassing two high-profile House Democrats in the running.
California Democratic Reps. Katie Porter, Barbara Lee, and Adam Schiff are vying to fill the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s (D-CA) seat. Garvey launched a Republican bid for the Senate in October, a bold move for a political outsider in a state dominated by Democrats.

Shelitha Robertson, an attorney and former Atlanta police officer who once ran for office as a Democrat to become a superior court judge, was found guilty by a federal jury in Georgia on Tuesday of fraudulently obtaining over $7 million in Paycheck Protection Program loans.
According to prosecutors, Robertson used the money to buy a Rolls-Royce, a motorcycle, and even a $148,000 10-carat diamond ring, among other things. Robertson received PPP loans for her multiple companies even though only one was operational at the time, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

In what is being blasted as the “height of hypocrisy” for Democrats, a progressive congressman is under fire for requesting police patrols at his home after previously calling to defund the same department.
Just days after Rep. Gregorio “Greg” Casar of Texas openly criticized the Austin Police Department, and following his stint on the city council where he called to defund the same department, Casar reportedly “requested enhanced patrols around his house,” according to the Austin Police Retired Officers Association.
