A patriotic new logo has been unveiled that will be used to celebrate the United States' 250th birthday on July 4, 2026.
The semiquincentennial - which celebrates the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence - is set to be part of an attempt to unite America around the landmark.
The logo uses the number 250 with red, white and blue outlines in a ribbon type font, alongside the word 'America' in a classic black typeface. Sagi Haviv, one of the designers of the new logo, said coming up with the right symbol for the semiquincentennial has been tough,

I guess it's okay but sort of vague. Surely they could have done better.

More appropriate would be a shredded Constitution or a giant eye looking at everyone. Or maybe a huge boot smashing the US map.

Colors, schmolors, the ONLY way this event will be any kind of patriotic is if President Trump is in office.

Yes, I remember the 200th birthday and our country was a much more enjoyable place to live in. They think everyone is going to unite around a logo for a year? Not hardly. And as another poster says, 2026 is a long way away. We may not even make it. Our country is filled with millions of illegals who could be Zippy's private army.

I'm just relieved that they stuck with red white and blue rather than using the full spectrum if you get my drift.

I'm not particularly fond of it, and it does sort of resemble arabic writing, but at least it doesn't have those damned pride colors embedded in it....

What would we expect when a Sagi Haviv is one of the creators?

Well, when I look at it, I see a stylized 250, not a "Middle East vibe" or vaguely Arabic writing. A ribbon motif is suddenly subversive?
I'm just as concerned about certain malign and foreign influences in this country, but these comments are just plain silly.
Just so you know, the designer is an Israeli-American with a stellar design career.

I like it. And I especially like in comparison to the Bicentennial logo.
#1, I'd consider it "subtle" instead of "vague."

I fear this very cool logo will be dead on arrival, because Haviv was born in Israel. From wikipedia entry: Sagi Haviv (/səˌɡiː həˈviːv/ sə-GHEE hə-VEEV;[1] born 1974 in Israel) is an Israeli-American graphic designer and a partner in the design firm Chermayeff & Geismar & Haviv.[2] Called a "logo prodigy" by The New Yorker,[3] and a "wunderkind" by Out magazine,[4] he is best known for having designed the trademarks and visual identities for brands and institutions such as Discovery, Inc.'s online streaming service Discovery+,[5] the United States Olympic & Paralympic Museum,[6] the US Open tennis tournament,[7] Conservation International,[8] Harvard University Press,[9] and L.A. Reid's Hitco Entertainment, and tech and electric car company Togg.[10

I agree with #8, and I think instead of just “America” it should read “the united States”, as it was written in the Constitution, or “the united States of America” as it is written in the Declaration of Independence”. And it should have the flag of thirteen stars and the flag of fifty stars on it.

it doesn't inspire me
- what would inspire me would be the John Trumbull "Signing of the Declaration of Independence" painting or
"Washington Crossing the Delaware" by Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze or Donald Trumps mug shot

I worked on the Bicentennial and loved every minute of it. It is frightening how much the country has changed since then. I doubt it will ever be the same.

Sorry to be posting a reply the second time, but learning that the designer of the approved (?) 250th anniversary logo is a immigrant born in Israel and chose “America” rather than “United States” or “United States of America” as the text, made me realize that “America” as the name of our country is pretty much the name that immigrants, past and present, used. For the population as a whole, “United States”, “United States of America” and even “USA” should be the name to be used for the 250th anniversary. Think of the words of the Pledge of Allegiance: “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America... .” Granted, “America” calls up memories of Kate Smith belting out a song written by an immigrant. My own great grandparents were immigrants, and came to “America” and might have never heard of “the United States of America” until they became citizens or joined the armed forces.
