Los Angeles—Norman Lear, the writer, director and producer who revolutionized prime time television with “All in the Family,” “The Jeffersons” and “Maude,” propelling political and social turmoil into the once-insulated world of TV sitcoms, has died. He was 101. Lear died Tuesday night in his sleep, surrounded by family at his home in Los Angeles, said Lara Bergthold, a spokesperson for his family. A liberal activist with an eye for mainstream entertainment, Lear fashioned bold and controversial comedies that were embraced by viewers who had to watch the evening news to find out what was going on in the world.

While many may not agree with his politics we should all take a lesson from his habit of communicating with elected officials, which he did from an early age. It's always been easy and cheap to do, it's far easier and cheaper than ever before.

Back when All in the Family was made, liberalism was amusing and an object of ridicule. Now it is recognized as the utterly stupid philosophy that it is. Rob Reiner certainly took it seriously.

Lear infused "All in the Family" with progressive propaganda and was lauded as "cutting edge" by fellow travelers in the entertainment media, soon followed by their compatriots in the lamestream. He satirized on the small screen the societal turmoil already being played out during the late '60s and '70s in almost every living room across America. The program made a deeper and different impact than Lear, and many others, expected. They thought Rob Reiner's "Meathead" was going to be the breakout character; the banner bearer of the radical left giving it to "The Man!". Instead, the breakout character and hero was Archie himself. The irascible, embattled and battered patriarch veteran, fighting to hold on to values and principles, won the hearts of the viewing public. As a "hometown" girl, I can tell you that Carroll O'Connor hated playing Archie Bunker. But he liked the money, and he liked his fans and appreciated them. He was a really nice man. My father knew him. It will warm your hearts that Rob Reiner absolutely hates being being called "Meathead", and it is not unknown in Los Angeles for him to be out in public for someone in a crowd to shout out, "Hey, Meathead!" LOL!!!!

Please indulge a second post. I think one of his funniest shows was the late night soap opera spoof, "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman!" I still use my favorite line from the show. Mary Hartman's mother's wise words of advise, "Things are never so bad, that they cannot get worse."

I was in the room when one of his shows was playing on the TV. I could feel my brain cells dying from exposure to the stupidity on the screen. I left immediately and refused to be in the room when one of his shows was playing. Ever.

Norman Lear may have been liberal, but many of his shows and scripts would have liberal heads spinning today. The things Archie Bunker got to say would never ever be shown on TV today.

House Oversight Committee Chair Rep. Comer said, “What he got charged with, with that indictment last night, that had nothing to do with all of the so-called loans that the Bidens have taken. We’ve identified, it appears, with the president’s son and brother, over $14 million in loans where it doesn’t look like they made any payments on, principal or interest. United Nations— The United States vetoed a United Nations resolution Friday backed by almost all other Security Council members and dozens of other nations demanding an immediate humanitarian cease-fire in Gaza. Supporters called it a terrible day and warned of more civilian deaths and destruction as the war goes into its third month. The vote in the 15-member council was 13-1, with the United Kingdom abstaining. The United States’ isolated stand reflected a growing fracture between Washington and some of its closest allies over Israel’s monthslong bombardment of Gaza. France and Japan were among those supporting the call for a cease-fire.

The signs have appeared around the Texas border city in the last few days on roadside announcements and on the sides of trucks. A member of 'Concerned Americans,' the group behind the billboards, explained the messages are meant to let border crossers know New York, Chicago and San Francisco are open to having them in their community.

In 1983, the Reagan administration published a report titled “A Nation at Risk: The Imperative of Education Reform.” The report warned that the decay of American schools was threatening the country’s very survival. But the powerful amalgamation of teachers’ unions, state bureaucracies, and the Democrat establishment defeated the initiative. Committed to preserving the status quo, this special interest group became the guardian of American education, maintaining complete control of the education curriculum and using its position to subvert innovation in education. No surprise, this group enjoys the systematic support of the Democratic Party and the Biden administration.

There is nothing these schools would love more than for this public relations nightmare to end and fade into history but this investigation ensures that isn’t going to happen. The public is going to learn even more about what is happening at these schools.

Former President Donald Trump is urging supporters to “guard the vote” during next year’s election, a phrase that has set off alarm bells among pro-democracy advocates who say it signals permission to take extreme measures that could intimidate voters and threaten election workers. The phrase is a relatively novel one for Trump, though activists in the far-right movement have been setting the groundwork for it to be deployed more widely. Former national security adviser Michael Flynn has spent months repeating the phrase in posts, speeches and interviews.
